" i asked a couple what the money was going to be used for--" building halls in africa."
Im glad you said that too Stan, I had same thing said to me (but wasn't sure if the JW made it up), looks like it's a common excuse fed to the R&F
according to the org's website, various congregations will be moving in with other congregations, effective january 1st 2017.
(i've only highlighted a couple) in all probability, their own k.h.
is/has been sold.

Well, well, well...while I was perusing the Estate Agents site for my old hall, looks like they are marketing another one...
The one shared by Halesowen and Blackheath Congregations..

Apologies...these aren't in London, but looks like they're taking the money in all over...

Well...it's been a long time since I've been on this site (I'm soooo very angry at the moment, as it seems all the JW related crap has come back and overwhelmed me)...anyway...
My old Kingdom Hall is up for sale at £250,000, lol (it was a quick build on the site of a 'pre-fab' KH), the two congregations which shared it are now sharing with another local one...so (at least) three congregations in one hall. One JW told me it was being sold so more could be built in poorer countries...absolutely stupid.
I will try and find estate agent's link...
i may not have put this in the correct spot, but i do think it's scandalous the way time gets counted now.
i've seen a cart at the edge of our farmer's market, never anyone close enough to talk.
yesterday was a drizzly day and there were two carts set up, covered in plastic, "witnessing" on their own.
I have noticed they tend to set up where there isn't much foot traffic...
...on one of my infrequent visits to Birmingham (England), they used to park their trolleys along New Street (the main pedestrianised shopping street), but the last time I went into the city, they were underneath the bypass - directly opposite a homeless man sitting about three yards away and facing them. Talk about irony. Four JW 'Christians' standing there, laughing and chatting amongst themselves, dressed to the nines, and a man, down on his luck, homeless, sitting on cardboard on the pavement.
I was running late for an appointment, otherwise I would have engaged these 'Christians' about Faith and Works...next time I need to go in, I'm going in early.

Just commented on this on another thread - it is in The Daily Mail (UK newspaper) today..
i am just posting the article link because i saw it today trolling through yahoo.
wow!
a billion, with a "b" is a big chunk of change.. http://news.yahoo.com/jehovahs-witnesses-could-1-billion-nyc-properties-161102417.html.
Just read same article in Daily Mail (UK newspaper)
last night our congregation read a letter for the global assistance arrangement combined with the traveling overseer assistance arrangement.
the "recommended" amount was $15 per publisher, which was well over $1000 for our hall.. it seemed steep.
our congregation does not have this type of money.
I have heard so many times, the boasting about how they "never ask for donations!"
They can't actually see it! Last time I went into a KH, there were two collection boxes at back..one being for 'worldwide work'...anything changed? Their interpretation of not asking for donations is not 'passing a plate' as the church does (or did)
october 2015 awake article writes:.
this experiment led jeffrey h. schwartz, a professor of anthropology, to conclude that while adaptation may help a species survive under changing circumstances, it is not creating anything new.. email response from scientist to reddit user myxomatosis_.
reddit user u/opinionmill pointed out in another thread that they've used the quote before:.

freemindfadean hour agoI have already prophesied they will tithe under the guise of another name. Sounds like tithing.
I haven't been around for a while, but I thought this had been broached a few years ago?
