Where I grew up (in the heart of Misery, gee, I meant Missouri), my parents asked the elder's if I could even go with an aunt to the cemetary--which was of course, a big no. They did everything else BUT go to there. But they were always complaining their territories didn't get covered well enought, anyhow. To me, that's disrespectful. But what do I know??!!

Way to go. I've been posting a bit here and there. I figure I've been treated like dirt for so Iong it feels good to be an "apostate"!!!
Oh, I'm Shelley. I grew up in Moberly, MO. I'm now in SW Oklahoma, by way of Texas!!! I guess I made a wrong turn somewhere when I had a few too many shot of tequilia. I'm still trying to figure out the avatar deal to download. I'm computer stupid!!!
Thanks to all on the site. I really feel more welcome and at home here! Especially compared to being at the KH!!

Have you a POSITIVE JW experience??
by ScoobySnax inok sometimes i feel it's good to maybe not redress the balance, but at least can you say something positive that you gained from your jw experience.
so thats what i want you to do, if you so feel inclined.
can you say or mention something that had a positive effect on you when you were a witness?

My positive experience was that I POSITIVELY made the elders work for their titles. I took alot of joy in doing that for quite a while!

What did you want to be when you grew up?
by whyamihere inas a child, what did you want to be, when you became an adult?
if you could, would you want to go back in time, and become what you wanted to be in the first place?.
as a child, i wanted to be a florist.

For a long time I just wanted to be a "wordly" normal teenager, instead of mom to my siblings. Then when I figured out there was NO way I was going to be a submissive JW, muchless be forced to marry young to some dweeb. I always wanted to be a nurse. Until 2 years ago I've been an ER nurse in Dallas. Kinda went off the deep end and lost my license. BUT- I do get to request it back in 3 months, after a year of clean time.
I just hated seeing all those ggoooddd drugs being put down the sink!!! yeh, right!!
Over the past 5 years I have been able to intervene in a couple cases that resulted in very quick action by the hospital to get a temporary court order that allowed life-saving blood. Those elders had those papers in their hands before they ever knew what hit them. Both instances police were there to make sure no one could take them out.
I will say that intervening both times was great!!

Graduation is okay?
by Oxnard Hamster inas you all know, jws avoid celebrating all major holidays because they are "worldly" and "worldly" things displease jehovah.
however, i remember some jws talking about celebrating certain kids' high school graduations.
so it's not okay to celebrate christmas, thanksgiving, easter, birthdays, etc, but it is okay to celebrate someone's graduation?

My parent's allowed me to have an 8th grade graduation. I know they ok'd this with the elder's cause they didn't allow us to do anything without getting their "expert approval". Some even brought me gifts, imagine that!! Also, my stepdad bought me a large Sears pool, and built a room around it for a graduation gift. Plus we allows celebrated their wedding anniversary. As oxy-moron as the elders were, it surprised me I was allowed the party.

I know of 2. I was molested by my stepdad who was a MS. My friend was molested by an elder. A couple of weeks ago I emailed my stepdad. First communication in 10 years. I told him I had forgiven him, but not forgotten. The bitterness was comsuming me. He emailed me back, thanking me for the forgiveness. (etc.) Any ideas on what I could do with the email? Now I just pity him.

Were you caught, did you confess, or did you run?
by sass_my_frass inhi, fyi: d'f'd a month ago, and glad you're all here.
i'm just assessing the sum of the madness that happened since my parents guilt-tripped me into confessing what got me disfellowshipped.
i do very sharply recall that at the moment i decided to do so i had an overwhelming feeling of relief which at the time i thought was me hating the lying about what i'd done and wanting to come clean about that and clear my conscience as a witness, but have since thought might have been me hating the lying about how i feel about the organisation and wanting to come clean about that as a human, ie, whether i'd turned the corner as a witness or i was glad to be getting away from it.

I remember the exact moment I snapped, and "saw the light". Another teenager in the cong. and I went riding around with 2 boys from school. We agreed not ever to tell. The next week I found out her conscience got her and she went to the elders. Keep in mind all we did was ride around on the "drag" for 30 minutes. I had been raised living in elders meetings. I was the one that made them earn their titles! My stepdad, who was a MS had been molesting me for years--but I was the bad one. I snapped and decided there would be NO MORE elder's meetings. I ran away from home and went to my real dad's--and never looked back. At the moment I made that decision, the weight of the world was lifted!

They have been doing that in a Missouri cong. for at least 25 years. They feel it was their duty to help families that have lost loved ones!!!!!!!!

In need of any information on White Witches
by kls in.
what they do , what they believe and if they have physic powers.
.

white witches, some known as wiccan, would never act like you described. The first law we live by is "to harm none", or it will return three-fold. If bad forces are thought to be about, there is a right way to handle it, and that's NOT how it is handled. Sounds like she's a 3rd generation wacko that is a want-to be. But wiccan or white witch she is not.
