firpo carr argues that while many white apostates claim to highlight so-called 'racist' remarks and terminology in the watchtower literature, most such apostates are in fact white and have little real interest in black issues.
they are only interested in the issue in so far as they can use it to promote white anti-witness propaganda, whereas a high percentage of loyal witnesses are black.
i know that all the terms of my topic are debatable: apostacy is a witness term of derogation; apostates probably are mostly liberal and not racist (essentially); and they are not a 'movement' in any case.
Who the hell is Firpo Carr? Is it me, or is he missing a few marbles? Out of all the stupid threads I've read on several boards, this is a true waste of time & energy. Someone has entirely way too much time on his hands, and is in much need of a reality check or a mental ward!!!
And what brainless twit came up with white apostates have an agenda against black witnesses????Did someone not take their much needed daily medication?!!! To me it sounds like someone has their own agenda. And my personal, white-ass opinion is I sure don't want to hear anymore hot air about some made-up racist movement.
As for me, I smell fried chicken and see the watermelon. Mrs. Jones, can I join ya'll.

.
i read this article and this church so puts the jws to shame.
read on...
It's nice to see certain churches taking care of their own, or at least someone in need. Not expecting a big rucus to be made.!!!Shows up the JWs in a pretty big way!!
If ya'll will indulge me, since this is the topic. I'm going to mention the following until some "lurker" gets the hint, or until I can find names and address/phone # for the Columbia, MO congregation. Don't you remember how the dubs pride themselves on "taking care of the widows and fatherless children"? My JW mom is older, still working, barely can make ends meet. Yes, I am put out with her right now, but doesn't mean I don't care. She lives in an older mobile home. It has holes in it. She stuffs newspapers in the cracks. My sister said it was so bad, her computer froze for a couple days.Plus, there are a couple other things that need some attention. We are talking a couple hours. She, of course, is sooo brainwashed she doesn't see a problem. "Oh, it's ok, I'm sure they are busy out in service blah, blah, blah"
I've just been in the mood to rattle some cages.Oh, and in case anyone lurking should know anyone in that area, her initials are B.H. I guess I won't give her name. If she found out she was mentioned on an apostate site, she may have a coronary. Anyone got any suggestions how to find out who the elders are there?
what do ya'all think about this...'somewherelse' inquired as to whether my froggy avitar was in fact a tattoo that i'd had done, and it's got me thinking about it!
i'm normally fairly opposed to body art, well for myself anyway.
if you are going to get a tatt, i believe it should be something very personal, and very well thought out over a long period of time.
Froglett-Gotta do it! It seems to be meant for you!! Be neat to put in on your lower back, so that it looks like its jumping out of your pants! (Just a suggestion)
You always hear that people wait till their drunk/smashed to get a tatoo. For my 40th birthday and 6 month clean date, I talked myself into getting one. Since the guys were buddies with my dad, I got it free. I have a barb-wire around my right ankle, with yellow roses intertwined, and the state flag of Texas on the inside, and on the outside. Right above my ankles.
My 20 yr old thought I was crazy. I made her wait till she was 18 to get one. I had never really considered it before. She said she could understand if I would have done it when I was in an altered state of mind. Couldn't believe I'd get one "when I got so old"!!! She hasn't figured out that I'm not getting old, and she has a long way to go to keep up with me!!! Have been toying with the idea of having "100% USA Grade A" on my boob. Since thinking that one out.
The needles weren't bad. Mainly felt like alot of pricks, was tender a little above the ankle bone!

If you got to read my reply on the thread before this one I got to get the ball rolling very quickly on a 4 yr. old that needed blood. Because I knew what the pompous buttheads were pressuring the parents to do, the court order came before the elders even knew one was being obtained. The parents were ssoo grateful. Because of that and one other similar incident ALOT of nurses in the Dallas area have been very educated about what needs to be done in that situation. Before I left, if they got a young JW, they were foaming at the mouth to make sure the patient got the proper treatment. They had heard tales of this kind of thing. After they witnessed it and the way the elders were trying to throw their pompous attitude around, I pity the foolish elder that tries to go up against the nursing staff. It got to be pretty standard to put up "Visitors must check with nurse before entering" sign. And it was enforced by staff that was just waiting....
It makes my heart glad to hear stories like this one!!! And I could ramble on and on about this topic. Personally, I think if I can find out the exact hospital, I'm going to drop an appreciation card to the nursing supervisor for the staff! That'll get their attention in the event this should happen again.

this sort of follows on from another thread about having kids.. is there anyone else out there coping with raising a child from an unplanned pregnancy?
i got pregnant about 18 months after i left the borg & i sure as hell blame my lack of experience/knowledge!
it has been a pretty rough ride ...
JW83-
Wow, talk about flashback! I found myself pregnant about a year and 1/2 after I had myself DF'd. I was 19 and had just found the real world. I had alot of female problems growing up and was told by 2 doctors I couldn't get pregnant. OOPS, were they wrong! I kinda forgot to tell Kelli's dad I was pregnant. During that time I really missed my siblings, who I had raised till I left. I missed them so badly, I got reinstated. My JW parents talked me into moving back home. I soon realized, after taking a long look at how we were raised, there was no way I was going to raise my child as a JW. After several attempts by the elders to counsel me because of my attitude, it was very easy to be df'd again. I knew it would be hard, but my child was going to have a real life in the real world. Complete with every 'pagan' holiday I could find.
Even though she was very unplanned, she's been my saving grace. what I did to deserve such a wonderful daughter i'll never know. A couple months after I had her, I had to have a hysterectomy. In her 21 years, she's never been considered unplanned. Some higher power planned her for me. Now, she's a new mom with my angel, who was also a surprise.
It's hard, especially if you are on your own. Make your own support system. If you are unsure how to meet other moms, call the hospital labor and delivery staff. They are a great resource. Even though it's hard, make time for yourself. Cause if momma ain't happy, no one else is!!
If your parents are JW, prepare yourself for the guilt trip from hell. Parents will try and use the baby. "if you don't come back to jah, your baby will also die at "A". Nip it in the bud, soon.
and know that any of us are here for you, too. Let us know how you are!! Like was already said, cherish every moment. They will be gone before you now it.

when i first became a father over 17 years ago i was so 'dedicated' to the truth' that i just know i'd have followed the society's policy on blood to the letter.
fortunately it never came up.
however, having kids was also something of a watershed.
It just really pisses me off that children (and yes, adults) are put on display to make the elders/parents look like perfect JWs. When my sister was 5 she was playing on the yoke of one of those old utility trailers. It feel on her, tearing her eyeball and cratering her head. Back then, they could not find a Dr. to operate on her. They were willing to let her bleed to death!!!! Finally an older dr agreed to operate. She made it with flying colors. They had to wire her eyeball in 3 places. She has perfect vision. They displayed her around like a fread show.
Some of you may have read about this. If so, please ignore. When I became a nurse, I VOWED that if it were within my powers, that would never happen if I could help it.
To make a long story short, I was working trauma in a large hospital in Dallas. My patient was 4 yrs old and required blood to live. The elders showed up all pompous acting, trying to throw their weight around. I knew that they were putting pressure on the young parents. Within 30 minutes the surgeon and I met with the ethics committe. Within 90 minutes the hospital had guardianship. The elders were trying to get the parents to run with the child. I had security up there by their door, no visitors posted. But what was priceless, I can't even describe how it felt to have 3 elders escorted from the hospital and banned from the property. Later the mom thanked me for taking the burden off them. She asked me how I knew what to expect from the elders before they even knew. I told her I grew up as a JW. It was left at that. I guess they mentioned it to an elder. They tried to have me removed as her nurse, then tried to have me fired. The hospital stood firm behind me!!
I was also able to intervene in another case, with the same results. I always think of my little sister.

let's say, in a child custody case, or something of that nature.. do they ask for the nwt?.
if they use the standard bible, because it's not the one they believe in, does that give them reason to lie in court?
(in their own minds).. hubert
Would it really matter in the long run. If it'll help their case, they'd lie and swear they only have to answer to Jah. Whatever will help them at the time.

my sister wrote me a letter telling me how she's going to all her meetings.
she has two personal bible studies a week, goes to two book studies a week plus all the other meetings.
first of all my sister was a drug addict.
I'll finally have a year clean next month. If I had to choose between the JWs or my drug of choice (meth)--I'd take the meth anytime. At least for me, recovery from drugs was easier (and yes, it was difficult), recovery from something that as been pounded into your head for YEARS, the head games, guilt, destorying lives, and all it involves for me, has been harder. Using NA, firing my old higher power and getting a new one, having a support group that loves you until you can love yourself--unconditionally made a huge difference.
It's so easy to replace an addiction with another one and not even realize it. Until she can find what she's missing, the pattern goes on and on. I really feel your pain. sorry---I seem to be doing alot of rambling!!!

i went to the post office this morning, to pickup the mail of course.
on the way out i encountered a jw.
he is a rather nice quiet kind of guy.
You know if one of us apostates actually touched a JW, they'd think we were trying to pass on some of those demons that we are infected with! LOL
