  A feeling of community

  for bettor or worse -- and it definitely seems it was worse for some here -- the witness religion provides a sense of community for it's members.

  humans are social creatures; we evolved to be part of a community.

  there are practical, emotional, intellectual and, if you want to use the word, spiritual, benefits to having some sense of group belonging.

  In todays world, I would rather be alone in my thoughts then to be associated with those that see no need of self-discipline. Oneness of mind in discipline nets better friends then those you cannot trust. A person not in trust does not care who they hurt along their walk in life.

  I would rather be with a man content with simplicity and the necessities of life, then to be with a person that wants everything in the world. This type of person does not care whose feet they step on in the process of finding, or attaining their material wealth. In other words, it takes a long time to put trust in anyone you can truly call your friend. It is better to associate with ones of like mindedness IMO

  A challege for Bible scholars

  can anyone find any scriptures in either old or new testaments which contain the following phrases, or word combinations?

  Only God has the Truth, is this not true?

  You'd think so, but it turns out that only the dozen or so men holed up in Brooklyn have "The Truth". God himself is somewhat excluded in the deal, since it is his word they keep using as a basis for their "Truth", even when it contradicts the "Truth" of yesteryear.

  (Dude, I'm being facetious. JW's are as truthless as a religion comes. Most people on this board are ex-JW's.)

  What happens to the 144K in the new system?

  quick question that i just pondered...isn't the teaching of the wts that at the end of this system, the 144k will get transferred to heaven to manage things from up there there with christ?

  and that this will happen by a creation of "spiritual bodies" in heaven that will somehow be a recreation of "them"?

  what happens to their bodies on earth?

  If a body dies, does it not decompose? Who puts it back together again when it is resurrected? I think there is too much thinking into this. Where does it say that humans become spirits in the bible?

  Drawing unfair comparisions-Convention talk on Tues night

  tuesdays meeting had a part about the upcoming summer convention.

  alot of q n a about how to dress, to wear your lapel at all times, to be clean, to not eat out bec the worldly vendors would be upset that they are not allowed to sell food inside the arena, to watch your language, conduct at the motels, to walk quietly, to not be in the halls during the sessions, informal witness at every opportunity etc.

  then this man comments and says, "what other religion would clean up the arena before and after a convention?

  It has been speculated that money spent on purchasing food from vendors would be money not put into the contribution box. If the convention attendees all bring their lunches rather than eat out then the Vendors can't say that business is being taken away from them. In the Orwellian scheme of things this all seems logical.

  I hate paying $ 5.50 at a ball game for one beer, when you can get at least 6 for the same price. Perhaps they get a discount. Also it is better to pay less than more for the same thing. IMO

  over the course of my three year 'fade' from the borg, i have done a lot of additional reading of all those books that we were told in the hall to avoid.

  you know... they are in libraries, the local book store... even on-line!

  what do you believe.i am a christian and i am not going to have a go at you and hope that i dont get banned from this forum.but you see i have questions.. 1.

  1915 and 1975 you proclaimed the end of the world was comeing.in 1915 you lost 3 quarters of your following.explain if this is true.. 2. you do not allow blood transfusions i understand.this is written in the watchtower magazine i suppose.where in the bible does it say this.. 3. if someone leaves you.why do you try to break all contact with this person.i have known families splitting up over there beliefs.. 4. who makes translations of your bibles.. i am not claiming you are a cult.but i would like to clear up these questions please
