I disassocated by sending them a letter some 21 years ago. With hindsight, I agree with the folks who suggest that you just fade away, unless you have no other family or close friends that you want to maintain a relationship with.

I too would heed the advice of Elder-Schmelder. When I left the Witnesses I too just assumed the Bible was correct and the Winesses just had the wrong interpretation of it. I eventually realized that all of these so called "words of God" were just the writings and musings of Bronze aged men who were trying to keep folks under some kind of law and order. When you can't physically police them all, just make up a sky daddy who can see, hear everything as well as read your heart and mind. It was a pretty convenient setup and it worked for a while.

Are You Interested In Religion Of Any Sort At This Point In Your Life?
by minimus inpersonally, i respect that everyone has choices to believe whatever they want to believe.
i have no interest in joining another religion....what about you?.

No I am not. I did try the "traditional Christianity" route for a couple of years after leaving but then realized that all religion is a product of the active imagination of a creature called man.

Can this logic be refuted?
by notsurewheretogo ini was an elder until march 2012 until i resigned.
i then stopped going to meetings in october 2012 and have enjoyed 9 months of freedom that i have found to be jouful!
i loved learning ttatt and sites like this and jwfacts.com have been excellent.. i told the elders that i needed a break and that they should not contact me unless it was a social visit and true to their word they have done that.

What piece of WT literature is worth holding onto, or have you kept? Why?
by losingit ini have basically thrown away all of my bound volumes and loose wt and awake magazines.
i kept some bpoks, the insight to the scriptures, god's love, the reasoning book, and daniel's prophecies (this was my favorite) .
i held onto insight to the scriptures after reading some of ray franz's book, crisis of conscience.

I kept my Revelation book because of all the marking and notes I put in it. It reminds me how jacked up I was at the time.

Children of God Cult
by EmptyInside ini was listening to an interview on public radio of chris owens, formerly of the band,girls.. anyway, they touched on briefly how he was raised in the children of god cult.
he mentioned how isolated he felt, and when he left at 16,he accepted the fact that he would lose communication with his mother.
since that is the way of groups like that.

Why does god kill children?
by Comatose ini was thinking about all the accounts in the bible that indicate god kills children as a punishment or teaching experience.
1. kills all of egypts firstborn sons, who were innocent kids who did nothing to him or his people, who had no control over the decisions pharoah made.
how many times have you read that account or thought about it without realizing the devastating pain dealt to all those parents, and remembered those were innocent kids?.

One of my favorite passages of the God of Love is found at 1 Samuel 15:3.
"Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy all that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys.'"
I always enjoy listening to various apologists try to justify this command. So much for "You should not murder."
And Psalm 137:9 is truly inspiring. "Happy is the one who seizes your infants and dashes them against the rocks."

Accused of thinking too much
by biometrics ini've been officially accused of "thinking too much".. i've tried to quit thinking, but i'm hoplessly addicted to it.i just can't seem to turn my brain off.. at times duing my school years i was accused of not thinking enough.
now i'm guilty of thinking too much!.
the brother even went on to say "could you imagine what the witness organisation if everyone was thinking independently like you do"?

What they are really telling you is that if you continue to think in rational terms, you will realize that the truth is not so truthful after all.

Rumor: April 3, 2015 start of Great Tribulation?
by Londo111 inon another forum, somebody mentioned that there is a growing belief with those high up in watchtower hierarchy that the great tribulation will begin april 3, 2015. evidently, one has to check the skycharts for that date and compare with 33 ceand also compare with the history of jws for past 40, 80, 120 years.
dont ask me to verify the rumor...these things come and go.
im sure lots of people in hq believe all sorts of things.. .

If the Society were to set another date, I would not think it would be one so close to the present. I figured they would at least give themselves the better part of a decade like they did with the 1975 fiasco.
