1st Time in 3 Years JW's call at our Door - Two 30 yr. long Time JW's
by flipper ini thought i was back on the jw radar after my jw daughter had a local elder call on me back in 2011 - but apparently not.
he obviously didn't let his elders know i lived here, no record was kept for posterity and just called my daughter telling her that her " dad has differences with the organization " because he never called back on me as he promised to talk again.
as i'm just inactive for 10 years.. so these two older jw ladys come knocking yesterday - one lady about 57 and the other lady older about 71 yrs.old ( i asked how long they had been jw's and told me they both have been in 30 years.

Stand For Pure Worship, what convinces you that the governing body is being used by Jehovah? Thanks.
by The Quiet One ini struggled with this question before i got baptised.
what helped you to overcome any doubts?.

JW's are basically just like Catholics except their College of Cardinals (Governing Body) claims that their teachings are solely based on the Bible. JW's don't really follow the Bible. They follow what the GB says the Bible says which, strangely, many Witnesses refuse to admit.

ELDERS STEPPING DOWN
by ADJUSTMENTS inbetween two congregations that i know of four elders have stepped down in the last two months!
there is something really going on in this mandmade organization!
it's busting at the seams!.

Do they now make a distingtion between stepping down and removed via the announcement? When I stepped down as a MS for about a year, they announced that "Brother Donny has been deleted as a Ministerial Servant." That irked me since it sounded like I had been removed without my consent.

I used to believe in God. After leaving the Witnesses I tried the "traditional" Christian route but soon discovered it was full of evidentiary data. I also realized that we humans seemed to always find a way to fit God into any situation. If someone was in a serious accident and suffered no harm, then God protected them. If they were seriously injured but survived then God was "not ready for them yet." If they died as a result of the accident then "God took them."
The more I looked at things objectively the more it showed that the world operates as it should if no supreme deity existed.

Terry's book: I WEPT BY THE RIVERS OF BABYLON
by tec ini just finished reading this book, by our terry, and i thorougly enjoyed it.
terry has an amazing gift for words and expression - as most of you already know - and he lured me in from the very start.
reading this book is an actual experience... and i don't want to say much more than that, because i don't want to color your experience as you read for yourself.. .

I think you do the signing. I have ordered the book and am eagerly awaiting its arrival.

Just think. In the pic posted by Kurtbethel you have JW's laughing and admiring God who is murdering billions as they watch. Get down Jehovah!

Is skepticism genetic?
by donny inis skepticism genetic?.
a few days ago i was listening to seth andrews podcast the thinking atheist , in particular the episode entitled clash from the past in which seth debated his former boss from seths christian radio host days.

Thanks for the replies all. For the record, I am not suggesting that those who believe are less intelligent. One of the smartest guys I know is still in the JW's. He is a high ranking manager in a tech company and questions just about everything except his religion.

Thanks for the comments adamah. I too have thought about the issue of parenting but my parents are believer and my sister does not believe the way I do. Take the issue of Seth Andrews listed above. He was raised in a tight Christian enviroment by parents who are theologans and yet he began thinking logically and eventually left the faith. I am not sure why some of us began questioning in this manner while others who are raised in similar enviroments never consider the "no God" option.
