What are the shunning policies regarding children?
by hubert ini guess "twinkletoes" and i are on the same wave length.
i just came up with these thoughts...... if a baptized mother or father d'a themselves, what effect does that have on their unbaptized children?
are they automatically shunned?

Flu "Epidemic" at School
by Scully inone of my kids was sent home from school last thursday with symptoms of headache, fever, chills, aching joints.
the next day, still not feeling well, she asks to go to the doctor, so i know this is not your typical kid-wanting-to-get-out-of-school thing.. i get a call from the school principal, and it turns out that out of about 400 students, almost 25% of the kids have come down with the same symptoms.
the public health department is notified.

Cheap Looking Bibles
by annalice ini have not been to a kingdom hall for several years now.
just the other day my inlaws sent my husband a new watchtower society bible .
it has the cheapest plastic cover i have ever seen.

Dune
I think they're still making hard covers but they are only for baptized witnesses.
Its funny how the WTBS are cutting all of these corners with the Monthly Awake and the cheap bibles but they are still a billion dollar company.

Watchtower 2005 CD library - can anyone help me??
by Super_Becka inok, so in my efforts to get some research done and learn more about the wts rather than relying solely on everyone else here for help, i decided to download the 2005 wt library to do my own searches and such.
after all, how else would a non-jw like myself have access to past publications and such??
and i'm dying of curiosity here, i want to do some of my own research, just to see what i can come up with.. so i download the iso file and then i don't know what to do with it.. i tried downloading an iso-burning tool, but that won't work for me.

Just how hyped was 1975?
by MuadDib inaight.
i was raised in the jws, but i'm still young (22) and all my life what i've been told is that the society never really promoted 1975 as the definitive year for the coming of armageddon.
what i was always told is that some overzealous witnesses took certain things out of context and developed a very extreme reaction - ie selling their houses, quitting their jobs, dropping out of school, etc.
-
Dune
Depends on who you ask. Anyone in this site, and they'll show you awakes, watchtowers and public talks which show the emphasis of 1975. Ask any witness from that time (who is still one today) and they'll say that it was individual witnesses who hyped it...

The Ori of Stargate
by Balsam inhave any of you been following the true path of the ori on the stargate show on scifi channel.
how the ori intend to destroy all the unbelievers through out all the universe's.
fundamentalist type religions like jw's, muslims, and other such fanantical religious ideas certainly are represented by such science fiction stories.
-
Dune
Well at least the Ori have something to show that they have some kind of power. What do JW's have? If a guy came from another planet and resurrected people who were burnted to a crisp, i sure as hell would follow him :-D. (Maybe this is why i'm the position i'm in right now...hmm)
