is anyone else reading this book?
it is extremely interesting, and while it is fiction, has a lot of things in it that are supposed to be accurate...a lot to do with symbolism in art, much relating to whether jesus was a mortal man...and if he....oooops i dont want to give it away.. i am just curious what others think of it.
it is a book that is causing a bit of a stir with many because it states that the bible was "not a fax from heaven" etc, and that the books of the new testament were put together at the council of nicea, and constatine had a heavy hand in deciding with the council what gospels made it into the new testament and what did not...very interesting.. i would love to get my hands on some of the gnostic gospels but i am not sure where to look.
I think he did an excellent job writing the book. I loved the book.
Have you found the hidden code(s) in the book and on the jacket?
This may help you in your search for Gnostic Gospels:

what is the belief of jdubs about dinosaurs now?
my daughter came home the other night from her grandma(jw) saying that she wouldn't let her watch a show about dinosaurs on discovery channel because what they were showing is not true.
dinosaurs were not meat eaters.
Dinosaurs were placed on the earth to defoliate the heavy plant life caused by the planet being surrounded by a water canopy.
While in the fourth grade we had to present 'current events' articles from news papers. My grandmother would not allow me to use newspapers I always had to use something from the watchtower or awake. I normally picked the Awakes blurbs on news around the world.
I recall bringing the teaching above to light for my classroom. I can still hear Miss. Carmichael saying. " Cassi where do you get this stuff from"? I realized years later she probably thought I was using articles from supermarket tabliods.

i'm starting this because i was chatting with someone this morning about pictures of ourselves as kids.
i realized i didn't have any of myself so i got my mother to email me a few.
i promised i'd start a thread about it and if that person doesn't post the pic they sent me this morning, i will.
Don't apologize Shari you are doing me the favor.
Yes, I am the one on the left, if the picture were in color it would be me in the green velvet dress.lol
Thank you so much. My sister and brother are also pictured.

well, it's been a long time coming, but my publisher just sent me the proof for the cover of my sci-fi novel today, and it looks fantastic!
i wrote back and told them it was well worth the wait.. as soon as they release the book, i'll make a shameless announcement so you can all rush out and buy a copy.
(unless, of course, you want me to come to your town for a book-signing!
Squares, Triangles, and Saucers is as much a human drama as it is a work of science fiction. The author unapologetically explores human interaction and emotion. He imaginatively puts a different light on extraterrestrials, their purpose for visiting this planet, and how they may interact with us."
Sounds Great SanJim!
Congrats to you on a venture I have only dreamed of.

Can anyone see this? If so I am on the left standing in the dress. My brother and sister are pictured with me.
blah try it again
what an audacious question!
" wow, bradley -- how could you stoop to such levels?
do you consider most people as simple sleepwalkers through life not paying much attention to reason, logic, science, history and a desire to understand?
I find this part of Bradley?s post most humorous:
I find ignorance all around me it seems -- astrology, new-age beliefs, creationism, militant nationalism, irrational views of self and others.~~ Logansrun
Bradley admitted his own ignorance in his 'irrational' views of others. He fits right into his ?most people? statistics. I also believe he went as far to include himself twice. He goes onto mention that he may even have irrational views of himself, so give him a break.

does there seem to be a higher incidence of infidelity amongst the jws?.
my brother, who is an active jw and ministerial servant, has an elder friend who was recently disfellowshipped for having an affair with another sister in the hall.
it turns out this sister was divorced a few years earlier from a "worldly" man who had an affair on her.
Czar's logic sounds like it's borrowed from a college course on human sexuality that was heavily peppered with the twisted rantings of some horny, misogynistic, bitter, middleaged, male professor whose wife won't let him play around. Either that or Hugh Hefner trying to justify 50 years of exploiting men and women.

I think you hit the nail on the head!

Thanks as well to my anonymous benefactor! You know who you are and I thank you very much.

Thanks Again!!

Who, but a fool, would break up a comfortable, safe, happy family life over a sporadic or one-time sexual liason? Only someone with a sense of personal insecurity and a satanic possession complex. But I notice that women who receive monogamous attention are often amused by the devotion they receive. ("my man is under my thumb") I refuse to play women's game.Monogamy needlessly empowers women to something they simply have never been entitled to - evolutionarily or morally.

Your statement implys that only men ?cheat? that women do not. I know of many men who act so 'foolishly' as you describe. What makes your statement even more so outrageous is it seems you forget men were behind the so called rules of monogamy in marriage.
I seem to remember it was men and are men who decided this Christianity should be in place and made the rules. Men said marriage need be between two souls. Men who burned women for witchcraft when this was far from fact. Men who preside in and have for hundreds of years the highest positions in clergy to assure one remains monogamous in marriage. Men who made these rules.
How many women were in positions of authority to make such decisions? LMAO at your statement. Somehow turning something men demanded throughout history onto women who are empowered with what, when they are angered by a man who breaks one of his very own rules?
Men who make the rules. MEN who wanted such. I look on and laugh even harder at your statement when reading about women who at this moment in time are being stoned by men for not remaining monogamous.
Who is under whose thumb again?
