Do you think that all Black people are somehow obligated to embrace Bill Cosby for what he did? Most times when celebrities or even community leaders speaks on an issue it's sparks debate about the issue, that's just how it is. You make it sound as if white people agree with each other all the time or immediately fall in line when a famous person speaks, that's silly and you know it.

No I do not think they should embrace him, as a matter of fact I found some of his comments crude. And I would not appreciate being spoken to that way as well. I was not speaking about this thread only but those of his last comments and watching reaction on TV and such because of the first comments he made. Many said that he should have kept such to himself and inside the black community.

No one is calling Bill Cosby a traitor. I was deeply dissappointed by what he said because I thought it was based on negative, misguided, emotion. He can do much better in trying to reach the people he's talking about. Again, are we supposed to just accept whatever criticism is handed down just because a Black man said it?

Some have called him a traitor, I heard a man on O?Reily doing just that. I?m sorry I do not know his name. There was a white guy who disagreed with Cosby and a black guy as well. Both called him a traitor to his people ( first set of comments and second were discussed). And no I do not think you are too accept everything that is said. I just wondered why it was such a big deal last time when his comments seemed much tamer if you will.

Nobody likes to be talked down to. I don't see how "publicly admitting" about an all too public problem is gonna help out. Anyone who really needed to hear what he said tuned him out a long time ago,

II agree completely. I am not saying to publicly admit anything one finds wrong with their situation but publicly saying there is a problem should not be that much of an insult. Because it not only has been said that he should not have said it at all but also the way he said it.

I still don't get why it's such a big deal to some black people that a black man spoke out in the way he did. White leaders, actors, speak out all the time about 'white' problems if you will and they are not stigmatized because of such.

Why does that bother a black person so much? I know damn well if a white person had been up on that stage saying the same he would be called racist. But a black man does and he is basically called a trader. Who then is supossed to point out problem areas?

Is is because no one wants to hear that they do have problems or won't admit such publically to try and fix such? Because the only other option is to whisper about whatever one believes the problem may be and hope it gets fixed. It reminds me of the game of 'telephone' the right message is never heard in the end.

Yes a brother and his wife in Dallas TX. Did not follow many JW rules but were allowed latitude IMO because he always bragged about his sizable donations to the WWW. As a matter of fact there were many in Lake Highlands cong. who seemed to get away with so much because they had money.

just out of the jws i had a town house i rented.

i was moving into another home and the landlord was scum.

when i moved he charged me for every little thing which was already broken or malfunctioning when i moved in and also charged me for hairline cracks in a 50 year old porcine bathtubs and sinks ( which already existed prior to my move in) the list goes on and on.

The next day, I made sure to tell everyone of my little trick. The whole office was having a laugh. We never found out who the thief was, but our lunches were left alone after that. :D

That reminds me of the old TV ad where the Dad while driving on family vacation refused to stop for his wife and children who needed to use the bathroom because he said they were stopping too much. Next thing you know Mom is passing out candy. You guessed it Dad's 'candy' was a chocolate e-lax.

Is this an okay reason to vomit?

i was walking to my girlfriends, and just as i saw her house, i saw a ginourmous flag that covered half of the front of her house....i had a little pre-vomit spit up type stuff just thinking about going into the house....is it normal for this to happen?

I would not vomit over a flag ( althought I may say it sounds rather large) which may be there to show support for soldiers. I would vomit at those soldiers I see coming home without faces, legs and arms.Those who are haunted.

I would vomit over the fact these kids will never be the same for the things they were forced to do to Iraqis-- I would vomit for all the Iraqis have lost their children and husbands who will never be the same--haunted with nightmars of war.

Vomit over the staggering numbers lost in Vietnam on both sides, WWI and WW2 etc. Those are reasons to vomit.

The flag is a symbol which means different things to different people.

Reports that 1 million black children live in extreme poverty exist side-by-side with news of unprecedented economic, political and cultural gains by African Americans.

The rest of the stats where that quote comes from goes onto say:

The number of black children living in extreme poverty climbed to nearly 1 million in 2001, according to the Children?s Defense Fund (CDF), a Washington, DC-based child advocacy group. The record number was the result of a sharp one-year increase in the number of black children living in families at half the poverty level from 2000 to 2001.
While the CDF report focused on black children because of the staggering rate of increase in extreme poverty among this group, there are growing numbers of children of all races in the US living under these wretched conditions?defined by the Census Bureau as an annual income of $7,064 or less for a family of three.
Other research has placed the number of Hispanic children in extreme poverty at 733,000 in 2001, about 13 percent more than in 2000. The number of very poor white children rose by an estimated 2 percent, to 1.8 million. Thus, a total of more than 3.5 million American children live in households where basic necessities of life are simply out of reach.
Using US Census survey data, the CDF found that 932,000 black children were extremely poor in 2001, up from 686,000 a year earlier. The 2001 total was twice the number of black children living in abject poverty two decades earlier when the Census Bureau began compiling such figures.

Why Bigboi is it getting worse and not better given the article you posted above which shows so many advancements for black people? Whites and Hispanic live in extreme poverty as well. It's not just black people who have it bad. Is there that much racism going on still? Which I do not see, perhaps because I am not a black minority just a minority.

Or is it because something needs to be done by the community which is not being done?
