Suffering with "Bridge-over-River-Kwai-syndrome" while fading
by OneGenTwoGroups ini've never liked being late for meetings, 10 minutes early has always been 5 minutes late for me.
i'm a very punctual atheist at the meetings still.. when someone asks a simple question from the platform and not one dummy raises their hand, i still feel the need to raise my hand so that we don't all look like idiots.. my shoes still need to be clean and polished, my suits and ties match and are in good shape.
i never wear them anywhere else.. i still feel like saying hello to people that are obviously being ignored by everyone else.. people not singing out still bugs me, lol.

How some Elders responded to Ray Franz DFing
by James Jack ini gave a several talks in gadsden alabama usa during the 90's.
got to eat and chat with several elders who were in the know such as : felix parnell, willie anderson, bobby rogers, earl parnell, theotis french, and rob dibble.

"It's the demons..."
by pale.emperor inone thing that really frustrates me inside is how quite a few jw's (especially my family) actually believe that demons like to inhabit second hand vases, or clothes etc.
my sister and mother are so bad with this that they wont even talk about it - because even talking about it "brings demons into your home".
so any attempt to show them that it's unscriptural is shut off with, sometimes them literally going "lalalalalalala im not listening".. i used to believe it myself (why wouldn't i?, i was told by my mother and father it was fact).. what i'd like to point out to anyone that would let me debunk it is this:.

I have been studying and practicing the occult for about ten years.
I am not going to argue back and forth with people on this; I will simply state my policies: I do accept anything occult from another person that I don't know, I don't buy any used occult items whatsoever, and if I am buying some mundane item secondhand, if I see ANY occult symbolism on it, I will not buy it.So far, so good.

I dont know how i can leave my family!
by BlackWolf inmy mom and i were talking today about how next summer i will be 18 and she said that just thinking about it might make her cry.
that made me think about how much more it would hurt her if i quit being a jw.
i really do love my parents, i know they are just being cruelly manipulated by a cult and that they really think they are doing what is best for me.

Lacking some of the pieces in the puzzle
by oppostate ini had a chance last weekend to talk with an elder i used to serve with.
a very kind hearted and understanding elder, always showing sympathy and concern for others, looking out for the little guy, the downtrodden and oppressed, even willing to stand up to uncaring company-men co's .
he was po way back then and became the cobe in the new re-0rg, until, that is, the gb came out with the age limit.

He got a chance to learn firsthand what the WT organization did about pedophilia in general, and then he saw on a personal level how the middle and lower management dealt with it locally. Anyone with any thirst for the real truth can see something's not adding up, based on the Society's handling of the pedophilia issues on all levels. There is NO way to reconcile WT organization's policies with decent behavior. -

Bethel, I would imagine, discouraged them from filing Social Security until they were done with them. It cuts down on paperwork, confusion, etc. Imagine Bethel being considered a retirement home by the government. -

JWs and New Year's Resolutions
by JW_Rogue inanyone else find it odd that jws don't do new year's resolutions?
i have never read anything about it in any wt publication.
yet, it is like some unwritten rule.

I agree only in the sense that you should strive to improve yourself every day.
I do like the convenience of making grander plans coinciding with the calendar year, though.

How will many JW's react ?
by Phizzy ini did not believe i would see the demise of the wt in my lifetime, and maybe i will not, they may be able to ride out their present problems.. but how do you think this will affect the average, loyal, believing jw ?.
usually most things just wash over them, if there is a slight niggle, they use their well-worn way of explaining things to themselves as in "the end is near" or "jehovah knows best" etc etc.
but the huge sea-change in corporate policy that we see unfolding, all construction work stopped, except warwick and maybe their biggest project, chelmsford u.k. huge bethel layoffs, and the lifestyle of the remaining staff reduced to virtual slavery, more bethel closures, spiritual food reduced for the public as well as the r&f, and all of this being the opposite of what they have claimed was evidence of jehovah's blessing ???.

Damn. If it was like that at my congregation, I would still be in, happy and oblivious.

Pioneering
by Sabin ini`ve heard many pioneers claim that they are deserving of material things because they are the ones who make all the sacrifices.
one claimed that jehovah had made sure that she got absolutely everything she wanted right down to shelfs so she could put up pic`s of her family because, to quote "we are so deserving, we`ve made the sacrifice".
mind you this is the same sister who told me "it`s harder for me having my son d.fs than for a mother loosing her child in death".

When I pioneered, I didn't expect anything, and appreciated everything. I guess I was doin' it all wrong.
