So does the 3-year old who starves to death in Darfur get to spend his/her afterlife in the "smoking" or "non-smoking" section?

Did anybody figure out what to do with the www.letyourcompassguideyou.com website?I just get a green screen with a compass, whos needle follows the mouse pointer around.
OK, figured it partly out.
Swing your pointer past "east" just a bit, in the green area. Eventually the background changes and becomes "clickable" at the "108 degree" mark.
Click on it, and a small screen pops up, asking if you are "one of the good ones"?
Answer with a "n" and you are taken to the same ols "thehansofoundation.org" website.
Answer with a "y" and you are taken to an FTP-looking site, with folder names. But clicking on any of the names just yields a "built-in" permission denied" error.
Guess I'll have to play around some more... -

Witnessing at the WalMart in Evansville, Indiana(pics)

for your viewing, uh, pleasure?

Back in my old congregation, we had a similar display set up in a common area at the local community college.
We weren't allowed to initiate conversations, but we could reply & converse if anyone came up to us & starting talking.
In my time there, not one person ever said anything to us.
It was the easiest 4 hours of field service you could ever get!

Watchtower Rules?
by grissom6471 init really amazes me when people say that the watchtower rules or controls people.
i heard on the news that the vatican issued a statement calling for a .
boycott of davinci code movie and book.
-
sir82
Consider this:
OK, so the Vatican issues a call for a boycott of the movie. How many tens of millions of Catholics will ignore that, and go see the movie anyway?
And of those who see the movie anyway, how many will be excommunicated from the church for failing to obey this directive?
And contrast that with this scenario:
In the early 1970's, a Watchtower article came out that said that smoking cigarettes is now considered a disfellowshipping sin. Prior to that, all thru the 40's, 50's, 60's, JWs could smoke as much as they liked and faced no judicial consequences.
Suddenly, with the appearance of that one printed message, smoking was a sin that would definitely lead to disfellowshipping.
How many JWs obeyed that 180-degree turn of opinion?
And of the JWs who did not obey, those who continued to smoke, how many were disfellowshipped?
I think you know the answer.

Apparently...
by ballistic inmy computer may be running counterfeit software.
oh my gosh, how did that happen?

sir82
Reasonably, then, mature Christians would want to avoid stumbling others, and therefore confess this software piracy to the elders.

Need evidence of others with "god's holy spirit"!
by bythesea ini sent my husband off for the week with a 7 page letter outlining some of the isssues i have with the wts.
its been a long time coming!
the letter went into a lot of different areas, touching on all the big points and admitted how fearful i have become of sharing this information with him or anyone else because of not wanting to lose my friends and family over it all.

what they are acomplishing now
I'd ask, what exactly is it that they are accomplishing now?
Billions of hours preached, for a 1% growth rate? Just baptizing the children of current JWs, with 0 hours spent "in the field", should produce growth greater than that.
Magazine subscriptions - cancelled?
Awake magazine - production of new issues cut in half?
Books - now all of them, even the Bible and the bound volumes, breing produced in paperback?
Food service at conventions - cancelled?
Thousands of Bethel workers - downsized?
Sounds to me like they are shrinking, cutting back, withdrawing, circling the wagons, whatever you want to call it...what "accomplishments" in the past decade can they point to?

144,000 early view
by golden age in.
i was researching the topic of 144,000, does anyone have any scans from the 1935 convension when rutherford made the big change about the great crowd.
or any scans from watctower articles around that time that discuss this issue and what the new rules were to be.. also, does anyone know who rutherford said would live on paradise earth before 1935, because in the millions now living book written in 1925 he had talked about abraham and others living in beth sarim, additionally he did say in the millions book at that time that many people would be able to live on earth forever, who was he referring to if all were supposed to go to heaven..
