  Motivations for Watchtower leadership

  i’ve struggled for some time with this question.

  why would the elders, cos, branch committee, helpers to gb and the gb themselves devote their lives to progressing in the organization, if the whole thing is one big sham?

  i have 3 ideas so far.. 1) money.

  It's the power.

  I think they probably hope it's true, but even if it's not, power is more addictive and intoxicating than heroin.

  These guys think their immediate superior, the only person they have to answer to, is Jesus Christ, for...er...Christ's sake.

  They have 8 million+ people revering their every word, no matter how ineptly spoken or nonsensical the thoughts.

  Remove these bozos from the insular WT / Bethel lifestyle and they wouldn't qualify to be a Walmart greeter. The least moronic of them realize that, and so on and on they go.

  Their clothes are 1960s style. Stepping into their future is like stepping into the past.

  And why not? The 60s were pretty much their high point.

  Double-digit growth year over year. A fixed date for Armageddon, in the not-distant future, to ramp up enthusiasm. No pesky facts available on the internet, no child abuse lawsuits, plenty of income from books & magazines. Apostates were shadowy figures who ranted & raved outside conventions & clearly looked mentally ill.

  They'd love to go back in time 50 years.

  He's still tweeting about weather maps & Alabama, this morning.

  This marks 5 days in a row.

  He also got a Coast Guard rear admiral to write a letter defending his statements.
  

  I look forward to his comments about the hurricane & Alabama at his next rally, September 9 in North Carolina.

  I also definitely think he should keep tweeting about it, every day, for the next 14 months.

  the watchtower has attempted to address their two witness rule and the case of the raped woman in a field found at deuteronomy 22:25-27all the tireless work that so many ex jws and concerned worldly people have done by phone calls, cart crashes, demonstrating at assemblies, questioning jws and so on, is paying off.

  it's not the doting jws that have been questioning the two witness rule, it's apostates.this is a "question from reader" in the december, 2019 watchtower.

  the bible says that at least two witnesses are needed to establish a matter.

  We can be confident that the judges would “investigate the matter thoroughly” and render a decision in line

  with the standard that God had set out plainly and repeatedly.​

  Any time the WTS says "we can be confident".....that's a pretty good sign they're just pulling $#!+ out of their collective watuzzis.

  Museums growing at the branches especially Warwick

  i am not sure if this has been discussed but last night mid week meeting about organisational accomplishments really got my goat as the example of the temple was used.

  people contributed to the building of the jewish temple and now the museum and bethel in warwick.

  this supposed .be evidence of god s guidance.

  I like how the museums are dedicated to displays of Rutherford's & Russell's old books....

  But if any current JW were to actually, you know, read the contents of those books, they would at least be confused, startled, panicked, and quite possibly lose their faith in JWism entirely, considering how absolutely bonkers the "current truth" was in those years.

  I love how all those "starting point" dates are so "rock solid".

  Yes, per the dear leaders, the entire earth was fully submerged under water in exactly the year 2370 BC.

  And the 350,000+ species of beetles alive today all evolved from one beetle "kind" on the ark. That's some speedy evolution - 350,000 species branching off from one pair of beetles in 4000 years.

  Or maybe Noah had 350,000 pairs of beetles in the ark....Careful - don't swat it! Just let'em crawl on your food.

  Heartbreakingly sad - sorry you have to experience this.

  An extra helping of sadness in that your mother is convinced that she has to earn her way into paradise by doing more, more, more, even if it (literally) kills her.

  If people would only stop and think for a millisecond - what kind of God demands such self-destructive slavery? And even such a God did exist, why on earth would you want to worship him?
