glitter: Hibiscusfire, you said this: "“X-mas” is meant to share season’s greeting to all races, cultures and religions. (snip)"#
And the whole post came from here: http://www.goodnewsetc.com/123TS1.htm
And was written by "Victoria Barboza is in 9th grade at Midway Baptist School in San Diego."
"Christmas is one of the most enjoyed holidays of the year. To me, as well as other Christians around the world, this season continually reminds us of the day Christ was born. (snip)"
Is from the *same* webpage and was written by "Ezraley Samala is a 9th grade student at Bay View Christian Academy in San Diego."If you hadn't noticed before glitter I did mention eg on pg 18...
"There is no “X” even in the word Christmas! And even if there was, let’s take any other holiday or even your own personal birthday, how would you like it if no one even took time out to recognize your birth. I know I would feel un-appreciated or even un-loved. gift He sent us, Jesus Christ. The whole reason why Christmas even is, is to celebrate the birth of this Man, this innocent and perfect Man whom we learn later was crucified and resurrected after three days.
Christmas has been distorted to some fantasy time of year, even to the point where people try and leave Christ out and replace it with a big “X” that signifies absolutely nothing.
Don’t take the history out of Christmas. Just know the only true gift we have received is the birth of our Savior, Jesus."

Yes these are comments from other people other than myself and it was to show you that I am not the only person who think the same about the X in X-mas.
Now if you go back and notice again I never put my signature as Hibiscusfire at the end.
Ha! You think you're so smart you're stupid. ....I did that deliberately glitter mouth!!!
LOL!
So I'm not busted because I didn't do anything wrong.

Cynus...
I have a just-turned 19 year old working in my family's business, for 3 years now. Tough, dedicated, loyal, hard-working, does whatever aked of him. I wouldn't trade him for anyone. He's the exception. When I was 18 I worked my ass off to be independent. It seems something happened to most of the kids 3-4 years younger than me (Im 33) and most 18 year olds think they have 18 more years to grow up. Or maybe I'm getting old. Sometimes at work some of the younger inexperienced workers work harder than the older ones. They also get taken advantage of......you have to wait until you are really appreciated...less pay because you're new. But such is life...I went through that stage.
I'm getting old too. When I younger I believed I should have gotten married at 18....It's probably a good thing I didnt??? Not too sure. perhaps I guess.

Crumpet: Hello Hisbis - I love your threads.
Thank you. How's the leg? My mother broke her arm Easter Monday and it's still hurting her. They had put the cast on too tight. She will get better, I pray. The therapy hurt her like crazy so she stopped it because she told the doctor that they would break her hand again.
What is your opinion on what 18 year olds should be allowed to do? Here in Britain you are legally an adult at 18. I learnt to cook clean run a house etc as soom as I was able to reach the various chores and I'm grateful my parent taught me these basics so young as i Had to leave home at 16 and have lived alone since and made all my own decisions and supported myself. If they are supporting themselves they can do what they want. I realised after one encounter I wasnt ols enough for sex at 16 and so put it off until I was 18. That said I think 16 is far too ypung to have to leave home, but thats the JWs for you.
I mentioned some things earlier but...
I think 18 year olds should have a bigger sense of responsibilty and not be told every minute what to do...especially in this time since the world has gotten so modern now...the little 9 year old thinks she is a big woman.
18 year olds should be able to maintain the house - yes helping with daily chores...including cooking, washing and ironing (at least their own clothes), cleaning (the toilet too)
If he/she does not have a job yet at least one should be in school studying to better him/her self depending on the situation at home financially. Working can raise the funds to study later on or while working they can study.
I don't think an 18 year old should have sex unless he/she is married.....should be this way but out of curiousity the opposite happens and the outcome is not very nice at all....sometimes the couple end up getting married....
I think sleeping until 10-12 is pure laziness especially when the person really has no job or is not going to school and leaving everything up to mummy to do.
Depending on the situation an 18 year old is still not old enough or wise enough to venture into the world by him/her self unless they grew up a tough life....by all means make the best of life then. There is still need for parent/guardian's input and discipline...not experienced enough in all areas.....Yes we learn from mistakes and sometimes wish we had listened to our parents/guardians.
I don't think 18 yr olds should smoke...I don't think anyone should smoke. It's just a waste. Alcohol and drugs is a no no too. At this point they think it's good to try new things....get hooked and die.
As for movies - if you move out at 16 or even 18 your wage earning abuility is severely restricted and if you can afford to eat and keep a roof and watch any movie then that is your perogative.
Sure the wise thing is to budget.

AK:
I remember that during the Vietnam war, those of us 18 or so were plenty old enough to be drafted and killed in combat. But too young in most cases to get a car loan, and it seems that you could not vote till 21 then. - What a thing eh? hmmmm
My dad served for several months in Korea as an 18 year old in the 50's. He was allowed to kill for his country, but when he returned the state laws would not allow him to get married until he was 21. - maybe if he had gotten married he would have refused to go back to do that line of duty...they probably think that way
I wish they would have let him - I was one of those darn 6 month babies... - oh? what do you mean?

findingmyway: It depends on the individual. Some 18 year olds have the maturity level of a 13 year old. By the time I was 18, I had full-time employment, I was living on my own, and I was caring for my own physical needs. My parents' next door neighbors still have their 33 year old son living in their basement. Not sure exactly what that says about him, but ever since I moved out he's been saving for a house and he's only 1 year older than I. I truely think it's also because of the parents/guardians impact on the individual and the environment....but yes the individual has the MOST IMPORTANT DECISIONS TO MAKE.They are in control of their lives. You had it hard finding. But you've survived and learned about life at an early age. Yes I know someone who is in his 40's and live home with his two aged parents - he does nothing except stay in the house whole day. Hibe
