journey-on: The family values that led Mary to her role as the mother of Jesus are of immense aid in showing how this young woman guided her son, instilling in him those things that allowed his gifts of healing and prophecy to grow and flourish.
Hi you got to be careful there a bit about Mary. At the grass roots, some religions are taught very little about Jesus. The emphasis is on Mary and her ability to "intercede" for the sinner with a distant Jesus and an angry God.
Do you remember when Jesus was around 12 years old and He went "missing". His parents (earthly parents), mother (Mary) and his father (Joseph) went looking for Him. They became worried like any caring and loving parents would. On the 3rd day they found Jesus. He was not playing with the other boys in the streets of learning to swim. No, Jesus was at the temple with the wise teacher, listening to them and asking questions. Mary and Joseph were very surprised to find Jesus in the temple. Mary asked Him why he had stayed there when they were going home. She told Him how worried they were and how they had looked everywhere for Him.
You know what Jesus said? He said," Why did you look for me? Didn't you know that I would be at my Father's house?"
Mary did not even understand what Jesus meant! The teachers in the temple were surprised how Jesus had asked them questions they could not answer.
Now exactly what things did Mary "instill" in Jesus? As a mother, Mary did what and behaved how any mother would. However, Jesus was very, very special.
