don't know if i'm late to this thing, but it is just has me totally confused!
If I had to guess, I'd say this was done by ex-JWs....they know stuff that outsiders wouldn't know....I'm pretty sure I heard those urban legends of the dog getting stuck in the door and lady pretending to be on the phone before.
I'm still puzzled as to why it was done....
you had to get baptised,because of parental pressure..you had to get baptised,to date a potential mate..you had to get baptised,to get married at the kingdom hall..you had to get baptised,to keep your marriage together..you had to get baptised or god would kill you at armageddon.....the list go`s on......wbt$ rules are such that,your life can be disrupted or destroyed unless your a baptised jehovah`s witness.....were you forced into being baptised?...outlaw
Hehehe, I sure don't remember the date, even a month after, I wouldn't remember it. (Or even how many years I was baptized for that matter.)

Although I have to say that I knew everything I "beleived" by heart when came the questions. And by beleive, I mean....what I was supposed to beleive to not die horribly by the hands of God. For me it was very similar to an exam at school. I studied a lot, learned everything from a tender age, but never truly cared. It was very strange that I could know all of this stuff, and have everyone around including myself think that I accepted them as the truth...while still having that subconscious part of me who didn't give a crap and knew this was all just routine. And that part of me woke up a few years later.
Maybe that's what being brainwashed feels like...it's not really you...there's always that very fain voice that tells you it isn't really you...

Even at 18, I was still very immature when I got baptized. I of course didn't do it because of an overwhelming desire to belong to God, or whatever they say it means.
I did it because I felt I needed to..being 18 already, I felt "unspiritual" and left out (an obviously not marriage-material...) because most of the other teenagers where dunked . So I did it for show mostly....I never mentally dedicated myself to any God or organization, never even prayed before my baptism. I just felt nervous about the questions and having to stand in my bathing suit before hundreds of people is all I could think about on that day.
So yeah, it was a pressure baptism. And one I wish never happened because now my father won't speak to me.

i recently read that in switzerland there is a group of scientists that work on research, kind of like a think tank.
Ugh! That "Jehovah will provide/will snap his fingers" answer to every rational question thrown at them just insults my intelligence so bad.So tired of that one.
as a jw in the d2d work, i always had this feeling of special right to be there.
i had worked the territory so often that i knew every house, sidewalk, what door to knock on, etc.. i noticed in myself a comfortable sense that i had some sort of 'right' to be there, not as if i was walking on someone elses property, though i knew that and respected their property - but a feeling of familiarity that looking back was out of bounds.
almost like the territory was literally 'ours' - as in ownership.
Strangely, I was so used to go walking to a person's door...on their properties, that it just felt normal when I was a JW. I mean, that's what I'd been doing since I was a child.
But now, when I happen to walk on a street I know, I feel horrified at the thought that I used to go knocking on those doors and presenting awful magazines. It makes my skin crawl just to think about it.
my son, joshua - the 3 year old, loves the us flag (he has a couple mini ones), any map of the united states (even the little weather map in the newspaper), the statue of liberty (likes to pose as such and is fixated on looking a picture of said statue) and is now starting to take an interest in the federal buildings in d.c.. we really don't know that to think about this other than keeping him supplied with maps, flags, and pictures of the statue of liberty.. what do you all think?.

mrsJones---Do you beleive in the possibility of reincarnation? I like to keep my mind open about every beleives, and when I see a young child with unusual interests of behaving much more mature then their age...it always gets me to think about all those reincarnation stories I read. Previous lives....and all that.

It would have been nice for a change, but we were quite the perfect little bunch of sheeps in my congregation. The WT's wet dream in fact. We were often congratulated for how obedient we were as a group.
Eveybody put up their hands when it was time to agree, and I remember clearly when they asked if someone was opposed, everyone were just looking around, a small disbeleiving smile on their lips, everyone thinking...." But....who could ever be opposed".

i thought the jws would never visit my appartement bloc...but they finally did.. i came home yesterday night to find one of the new tract folded a few times and inside my mailbox.
i was really excited of course, but a bit dissapointed that i wasn't there to get it directly from them.
i looked around the other boxes, and it seems like the dubs just left one to everyone without even trying to knock.
