Anyone Else from Canada?

i'm really intrigued by that fact that i may know some of you and yet not know that i know you.

i just want to know how many people from canada are here.

if you don't mind and don't care about posting your province (cause i'm too timid to) we could all get an idea of just how many canucks are really out there.

we all know there is no mention of cats in the bible...not one....but another thing that's weird is that there is no reference to any people in the old testament taking their kids down to the beach to make sandcastles and stuff...why?

In the french version of their Bible, it's even the actual word they use! The brother that had to read that in front of the whole congo was so embarassed and it was pretty hard not to laugh at the simultanously silly and disgusting mental picture.

Were you a non-spiritual JW?

i sure tried to act spiritual in the beginning of my jw life.

i could go through the motions of being a good jw, but i just never could get turned on with being spiritual.i gave great talks and when i was an elder i could fill in for a no-show and never miss a beat.

however, my wife at the time always complained that we didn't do the family study or study the wt lesson ahead of time.

I agree about JWs having a twisted definition of "Being Spiritual".

As a teenage girl, I badly wanted to please my JW father, and the most hurtful thing he would say to me was that I should be more spiritual. It was as if being un-spiritual was the equivalent of worthless. And he always sounded so disapointed and discouraged.

I'd cry if he told me that me not loving to read the publications meant that I was becoming un-spiritual, like my mother. So I'd try to convince him that I *did* like reading them, that I *loved* going out in service. Even though I was miserable. And I beleived that I was really un-spiritual for not naturaly meeting their requirements. Imagine, I never had an actual study and never ever pionnered.

Today I realise that I *was* a spiritual girl, I still am, always will be. This is my nature. But in the actual sense of the word.

*Phew* This is like therapy or something....

Bastet (or Bast)- Of course, I feel very connected because of my love of cats and arts.

Ostara- Because even though Autumn is the most mystical season to me, spring comes really close, and I get this unexplainable feeling of well-being and peace in the first days of spring.

How much younger or older were your JW friends at the hall

i used to hang out with only older people.

the ones my age were married and had kids so i didnt fit in.. i was always with people 20 and even 30 years older than me.

it was as if i was their age.. i don't think it's healthy to hang around with people much older or younger like that.

I was a teen, but my friends where two very eldery women and two 11-12 years old girls.

I just didn't connect with JWs my age. I really had no desire to hang out with them at the meetings or anywhere else. Maybe because in the back of my mind, I knew the grandmas where probably hanging on because it was their whole life....and the kids, well the kids are not as brainwashed as the teens. Those girls confessed to me that they gave gifts to their friends at school for Christmas. So I do have a very faint hope for these poor children.
