One single picture that makes you think
by Lilycurly inokay...following yesterday's post and all the great ideas you had.
we are now seriously considering sending a da letter that would resume to one simple phrase like:.
"for more then ten years now, i am assured that the jehovah's witnesses do not have the truth.

Rutherford cartoon pics? Do you have one? I have to admit the christmas one would be cool, but it's so easy to dismiss it as old light...
The jumping girl is pretty cool too. Hmmm... The crossed-out watchtower logo would be nice, but maybe too simple....

OOOoooh!Priceless!lol And disturbing....hehehe. But I should mention that the letter will be in french, and most unfortunately, we don't have the equivalent for that expression....so it can't work.
The Armageddon one, I will keep in mind....thanks.
Any more?

Okay...following yesterday's post and all the great ideas you had. We are now seriously considering sending a DA letter that would resume to one simple phrase like:
"For more then ten years now, I am assured that the jehovah's witnesses do not have the truth. With peace of mind and great joy, I now officially quit.
XXX Love and hugs...---name----"
What I would like, is one picture that I could print at the bottom of the page, that could make the elders at least spark a bit. To make them feel how free and happy we now feel, or maybe just how silly we now consider the group. I know you are all good with that. And if there are more suggestions to make that one phrase more effective, by all means say it.You know you are all aposta-geniuses.

Mother's DA letter
by Lilycurly inwell, after 10 years, they are asking a letter from my mom.
don't know why...but they said it's that or they df her.
well, she really wants to jump at the chance to vent for what they are doing to her family.

Thank you guys.;P
No, as far as I know, my mom isn't out-spoken at all about her apostate thinking.lol Unless you count trying to cancel the brainwashing her youngest sons are getting from dad. So there is really no good reason for the elders to suddenly start thinking about this. They also know that our family is kind of raw since they pushed my father into shuning me, and they still go and do that. Inconsiderate bastards. I suspect that the body of elders has changed a bit in the last months, that must be why they are now so much more authority-happy and zealous. You know, young new eldies.
Yes, Scully's right. You have the best memory ever Scully!lol The original letter is in french and really well spell-checked, no worries. Sorry about the english atrocities. You know, it would be kind of funny to send the elders a letter so full of mistakes that it's praticaly unreadable. With no structures or capitals.lol
Oh, and thank you so much for the suggestions, I will try to work them in.
Honesty-I will ask my mother and seriously consider that short and to the point letter. Would love to see their faces...lol That would be a very clever and memorable way to go. They already know what we think anyway. And that would be a phrase that would play again and again in their mind. Like it does in mine right now.lol
Oh, and maybe add "Love and hugs" at the end. Saw that in another DA letter. Found it so sarcastically funny. Like you think of them as one big joke. Ooohhh, maybe write it in big nice, curvy purple letters at the center of a floral, scented paper, with little hearts on the "i"s .lol Alright, I'm tired.hehehe

Well, after 10 years, they are asking a letter from my mom. Don't know why...but they said it's that or they DF her. Well, she really wants to jump at the chance to vent for what they are doing to her family. Dad shuning me and all that, so she asked me to help. She noted things that she wanted to say, and I wrote it, since she hates writing. We don't want it to sound too bitchy though...so I might need some help to soften it a bit, and make it clear that it's the WTS we dislike, and not the individual JWs...Here we go...
"Dear Sirs,
Following your request of a letter of DA , I only have one question to ask. Why now? Why ten years later? Is there a reason that I am not aware of? Have I somehow become a bigger threat to your group's members now then ten year ago? I don't think I have, my life has been pretty much the same since I took back the control I had lost over my life and actions. But today, you want my demision on paper. (Which shows once more that you are behaving like a compagny would, and not in a christian way. Unless I forgot a verse where Jesus demands reports and paperwork from his disciples.)
I will keep this short because I have read what my daughter wrote to you some time ago, and it illustrated very well what I think of your organization and religious groups en general. You have never answered her numerous questions properly; showing the same closed mind that we now come to expect. It isn't much use nor very fun trying to talk about those things with such narrow minded people. It doesn't show great confidance in your beleives when you refuse to consider honestly other options and point of views.
To be clear, to me, the jehovah's witnesses organization is absolutely not the only way, no more then any other group who take what they want from this jewish Mythology book they call the bible. Jesus, Jehovah abd Satan, are merely copies of other deities such as Allah, Zeus and so many others. Which were created by men in it's quest to explain natural pheomemas, good, evil, mental and physical illnesses, etc. You could have easily been born in another country and be as fervant a muslim or buddhist.
Unfortunately, some people chose to take these legends to heart and apply then in their lives. Some of them ruining themselves and those around in the process. And those are not very pretty stories either. A lot of the bible I did not like to show to my kids. Stories of a vengeful, warrior god, commanding armies that kills and pillages to get some land. Stoning of children, genocides...the bible contains more attrocities then today's horror movies.
What is most saddening is you blind confidance in this pathetic New York compagny. To beleive immediatly everything they write without looking for yourself, or looking up the sources at least. It shows a certain lack of maturity, since a few searches about science or even history would show you that the WT doesn't research very far, and not very honestly either. They are well known for fixing quotes and facts to accomodate their teachings.
I have come to a point where I decided to leave the sad and monotonous life of a JW behind me. I chose not to have my life ruled by others, being the best person I can be. be happy, and love others. When I quit being a JW, I made the choice not to be forced to be insentive to the world around me, to stop being hypocrite to myself, and to stop having to judge others that did not think like me. I would not let other people tell me what my conscience should say ( as my husband still does, by shunning our daughter). I don't live for the spiritual carrot that is the new sysytem anymore.
By this letter, I officialy DA myself from the JW org."

The Uniting of Races ... Credit the Watchtower

having been one of jehovah's witnesses for a .
number of years i could not help but notice that there was harmony between.

Some people are racists, in and out of the org.
I know for sure that there are racist JWs, I had the displeasure to date one of them for two weeks when I was in. He would never admit it, of course, but he constantly made negative comments about black youths on the street when we were driving alone. Assuming that because of their race, they were up to no-good. It made me so uncomfortable and I started thinking about ways to let him off as soon as I could. Some people are just nasty, and cults can't erase such deep character flaws.

Why has the 'Creation' book fallen out of favour with the WTBTS!!!
by Gill inwhy has the 'creation' book, the light blue one, fallen out of favour?
when it came out it was called 'the final nail in the coffin of evolution theory'.. i've heard a bit about there being 'problems' with the book but would like to know if there are specifics and whether the wtbts find the book an embarrassment, which is why they may no longer be using it..

Hmmm, the word probably hasn't reached every JW....because when I received my DA call, I said to the elder that I didn't beleive in the Bible's account of creation anymore, and asked how they explained the fossils and human remains from millions of years. And the only thing he could come up with was..."Well, you know, we have a book that explains all that, would you like me to bring it to you."
How weird, and he knew me since I was a kid, he knew I studied the thing countless times. So I started to tell him about the book being dishonest, and he asked me for proves, but wouldn't accept anything from the Internet.pfff.
The only consolation, is that he resigned as an elder soon after that.

As a j-dub, how did you react to christian music?
by Highlander inso i'm riding in a car the other day with a j-dub.
on the radio, i have it turned to a station that plays the occasional christian rock type music.
a song comes on that has lyrics.

Lilycurly
Even as a JW, I had a liking for Church music. It's just so beautiful, especially when there are voices. I'm not even a christian now, and they still give me shivers, some of them are amazing.
I realized it was "bad" to like them when I was about 10 years old and my father caught me humming "Ave Maria". Then I knew I must pretend that I didn't like those songs, like I had to pretend I didn't find christmas lights very pretty and halloween decorations super cool.

If this doesn't scream mind control, nothing will
by restrangled inthis poem was written by a 15 year old jw to encourage one of my younger relatives to get back to the kh.
to get to the meeting ahead of time.
to make our way to the counter to get in line .

The poem kind of reminds of a horrible song I heard here once...You know that man who thought he had musical talent and recorded a guitar CD with JW songs for kids he invented. And there was one about all that they had to do, like stop playing to go to the meeting?
