  I just checked. The Revelation Climax book isn't listed among the available publications on the WT website. I'd have been a little surprised if it were, simply because it's a confusing book that requires some immersion in WT in-speak to understand some of the commentary.

  Ah, for the good old days, when it was ALL in the handy fixed-price catalogs ...

  i hate that phrase and i always have.

  we knew a jw couple who applied every year to bethel and giliad until the age cut-off (age 35 or 40?).

  • "fleshly" sister/brother
  • "heart condition" instead of "attitude" or "disposition." (Did Franz not have access to a thesaurus?)
  • "accurate knowledge"
  • "happifying" is horrifying
  • "expression," instead of "statement," "opinion," or even merely "he said."
  • "greased" instead of "anointed" -- Ugh! And other mangled verses of the poetry of the Psalms in the interests of literal translation.

  I never was a JW, but these phrases make me cringe when I come across them in the lit.

  Met with the C.O., and need help with 1975

  here is a quick summary, in august i turned in an elder resignation letter stating that i could not teach doctrine from the governing body because i did not "know" them at all, and i had doubts.

  when asked by the elders, i said the doubts spring from this generation and 1975. the elders took no action, waiting for mother to tell them what to do.

  would want to talk to me on his visit.. this week, our c.o.

  I've searched through the references, and it seems that the teaching wasn't explicity dropped. They went from declaring that each "creative day" was 7000 years long, to saying things like

  The Bible does not specify the length of each of the creative periods. Yet all six of them have ended, it being said with respect to the sixth day (as in the case of each of the preceding five days): "And there came to be evening and there came to be morning, a sixth day." (Ge 1:31) However, this statement is not made regarding the seventh day, on which God proceeded to rest, indicating that it continued. (Ge 2:1-3) (Insight on the Scriptures, Vol. I, p. 545)

  Unless that does count as dropping the teaching ... but it's not saying that they *couldn't* be 7000 years in length.

  Elton John, Billy Joel (just starting out), John Denver (Rocky Mountain High; Poems, Prayers, and Promises; Annie's Song); Afro picks, Afros even on white people (like me :-)), platform shoes, Earth Shoes; miniskirts went out and mid-length skirts were in (thank God); trips to Rockaway Beach and Rye Playland with friends, the Rose Dance at my high school, the senior prom, my first years of college ...

  The phrases "fleshly brother" or "fleshly sister" (referring to one's siblings rather than one's "brothers and sisters" in religion) sets my teeth on edge. I get an unpleasant mental picture of skinned people.
