I have heard dubs say in the past that since the end is coming, its ok to have debt or live a debt heavy life - thinking the end of this system will obsolve them of there financial burden. I've seen more than a few posts here about the DC and the underlying theme of the end is VERY soon, so soon that we might not be here next year. So with that in mind does anyone think that some, if not a few, might plunge into financial debt thinking the end will take care of any debt accumulated in this world?

No he's not an elder, but as I start to type this response he is fucking calling me again!!!!! He left a message saying that he wants me to go to the ass-embly. I've flat out told him that I think the JW's are full of shit. Basically I have faded and have no compulsion to go back.

In fact I've told him in so many words not to come around as he creeps my wife out. Now he won't stop calling, eventhough I have not heard from him in a very long time. Maybe he thinks the end is coming like so many other brained washed dubs.

Waters Above the Firmament, the source of rain?
by VM44 in.
my own unscholarly thought is that the "waters above the firmament" mentioned in genesis chapter 1 was an attempt to explain the source of rain (water) that falls from the sky (heaven or the firmament).. ok, now as o'reilly would say, "where am i wrong?"..

So does Gary's picture prove that the JW's are WRONG? They say that the Bible writers knew that the Earth was round, yet the Jewish picture might allude to that it is not true in the total sense.

Do you think a nuclear weapon will be used in war or terrorism in our time?
by free2beme inwith all those nukes out there, and all the countries that have them or are making them.
do you think it is something we should expect, that in our lifetime a nuclear weapon will be used in war or an act of terrorism?
i personally think it is possible, and i think it would be the middle east that would see this happening.

Nukes may be used in the future, they barely were avoided by Isreal in the Gulf War against Saddam. The weapon of choice in the future will be scalar weapons. The Soviets are 15-20 years ahead of us in this technology, thanks to Chinese funding. Scalar weapons make nukes pall in comparison.

did russell coin the phrase "in the truth"
by headmath inas in the context such as :.
is he/she in the truth?.
i just hate that miserable hyrocritical phrase.
-
sinis
I hate that expression as well. Usually I look at the person saying that, and just like Pilot, I ask them, "what is truth?" They normally give me that bad look and have no answer. I think that phrase is used sooooooo often they associate it with JW's and not the teachings of Jesus.

LDH:
Not sure if you were joking about being a reporter, but if you truely are I think a lot of people would find that what you heard from JR Brown to be of help. If you could pose those questions and answers in the article I think that would OPEN the eyes of many JW's to see that Mother says one thing yet the publications say something completely different. Thanks.

Sorry about your loss. IMHO life is life, and if I have the means to help out a small critter or human I will usually spend whatever it takes.

What it really comes down to is personal issues. Your brother KNOWS it a lie but can't come to grips with reality that basically says "you pissed away X years of your life". I would focus on what he can do NOW. Maybe get everyone to take a class together at a hobby store or college. Do something to put some meaning back into his life. I had a hard time coming to grips myself but not as bad as my wife, who still cannot or will not see reality.
My wife made one interesting comment last night that might help you, and has allowed me to see some insight. She said right or wrong, she continues to go to the meetings because it gives her association and allows her to be around people that have similiar beliefs. She acknowledged that they could be wrong, but basically goes because "it feels good". Perhaps you can use that info to your advantage and help your brother to break free by filling the void with something else.
