I'd be willing to bet that to debator black is not and white is not but if someone declares black to be black he/she would declare it to be white and vice versa. I think too that if someone mentions the truism that shit stinks he/she would declare that it is closer to benign in that aspect. Why do they say David and Bathsheba. Surely if Eve was deceived and Adam not so, then too Bathsheba would be considered such while David not. We can only imagine the time and thought and planning that went into seducing Bathsheba and arranging for the death of her husband. When I was an elder we were trained or taught to ask leading questions to determine if repentance was sincere or if rather they were just sorry they were caught. If David were judged on that basis, knowing that it was meticulously planned and not spur of the moment, surely his repentance if declared would be null and void. And as mentioned on another thread there was guilt attached, just that the punishment was transferred to the child.

once again our lurking jw friend sent us the oct. 15th jw study version for the wt studies.

in this article you'll observe the wt society really making jehovah's witnesses question themselves, doubt themselves - even if what they are observing the organization doing - they are not to doubt jehovah or the organization, but their own imperfect human judgments.

in other words : " don't trust your own mind - it's skewed ".. under the article titled, " keep on seeking first his righteousness " on pg.8 it lays the groundwork in stating, " seeking his righteousness includes trying to live according to his values, and perfect standards, not our own.

Have your JW Relatives Explained about Generation/Overlap Change to You ?

after reading on the way out's thread about his mom explaining the generation overlap to him it kicked this idea into my head to make this thread .

i thought it would be helpful to see if anybody here has had jw relatives or friends try to explain this " generation overlap " theory to you as a faded or inactive witness and what happened in the conversations.

so please feel free to post your experiences.

Amazing what the "generation" topic has generated. But to djeggnog I also have a question. In the dvd put out this year, faith in action it is stated that Russell had a problem with the notion that a god of love could be reconciled with the hell fire doctrine that taught 'eternal torment'. Do you think that Russell would do any better with the teaching or belief that is promulgated by Jesus' anointed congregation -- the faithful and discreet slave -- that is God's sole channel of communication asyou put it, that this god of love is prepared to, imminently, cause the death in yet to be seen horrific fashion of billions of people including babies and young innocent children.
