2018/19 new light
by Ray Frankz inhi guys, long time without paying a visit to this site.
today i returned to check a 'gossip' that is running around in brazilian exjw forums.. they are stating that is almost certain they will make a big change in their doctrine maybe this year yet in the annual meeting.
they say people in warwick were commenting on this.

overlapping 144,000. as each one dies--some other nutter takes their place.
They used that one years ago, example given was that of a soccer team. when someone gets sub-ed off, a new player goes on. but there is always 11 players on the team.

1 of the 10 sisters baptized had to be baptized twice, must of be some technicality on the first attempt, toe or knee coming up out of the water? Could she have been counted twice?

steve2 My hunch is that numbers attending conventions in New Zealand have been slowly declining for a few years now - but I do not have hard evidence to back up my hunch
Your hunch is correct, the chch convention is always a good one to gauge numbers over the years. There is only the one convention for the whole south island, no boundary changes to distort attendance figures. During the 90s attendance was always closer to 4000 with always 60+ being baptized. This year, 3 of the 6 sessions had under 3000 attending.

For JWs Lurking Here: This Is How Your Governing Body Are Robbing You
by pale.emperor inhello to all the active jehovah's witnesses lurking on here, or those having doubts.
seriously, i welcome you.. i was explaining to one of my friends recently about how the watchtower society uses it's members to make them money every day without them even realizing it.
unbelievable?

So what else does the WTS really have to survive on ?
International conventions, the planning of more & more international conventions is a big money earner for Watchtower. And there are a few planned for next year. Only the well off JWs can afford to pay WT for the privilege to travel to the opposite side of the world .

Why are they announcing 2019 conventions so early?
by Richard_I ini was just told there will be international conventions in canada in 2019. .
so i looked at jw.org and i see that there's a whole bunch of conventions now listed on the site for 2019.. isn't this odd?
normally we were told the location of conventions during the first week of january.. did they realize there was less in attendance in the 2018 conventions, and want to give ppl more time to make travel arrangements??

Some thoughts on the message of doom
by JeffT inone of the recent threads on the talk about the hailstone message got me to thinking.
the problem with putting out a message like that is what to do when nothing happens.
i have to think that somebody will be asking that question.

The problem with putting out a message like that is what to do when nothing happens
If nothing happens, it just means it is still to happen and you don't want to be caught thinking it wont happen.
It has now been 140 years of them telling their followers that the end is just around the corner, and their followers are still putting faith in the end being just around the corner. So if WT say something will happen, means it will happen, just not in our lifetime, and the next generation will just continue believing these messages. That is unless new light overwrites these messages.

by jonahstourguide inhi all.. personal experience.
attended a regional convention in melbourne australia.. saturday attendance,, 1,500 approx.. baptism,, 11. about 8 born ins ,,, all 8 under 20yo and 5 under 17.. 3 of the 11 appeared to be over 20 and are not born ins.. sounds about .8% increase ,,, kind of.. the outstanding part of the day was the continual reference to ' are you, can you do more'.
