The science indicates pretty clearly that people choose to gay as much as people choose to be straight, that is, in almost all cases, no choice at all. I doubt there is a "gay" gene, or that homosexuality is entirely genetic (it would appear that homosexuality is congenital as well). There is a correlation between homosexuality and testosterone levels in the womb.

Logically consistent theories of ID exist.
by hooberus inthe following is one theory that comes from the id book the biotic messagehttp://www1.minn.net/~science/contents.htm by walter remine.
"an intelligent designer is necessary for the origin of life from non-life.
" the biotic message page.

AuldSoul: indeed. If I were going to believe in a deity, a God of the gaps seems like a pretty insane way to go about it.

The statement is inherently untestable. A "designer" is a supernatural entity. You can't make testable hypotheses about a super natural entity.
But let me put it to you this way. How would you test for a "designer"?

Oh goody. "Evidence" for a "faith". The whole problem with ID is it pretends it's science, while it completely rejects science.
The statement "An intelligent designer is necessary for the origin of life from non-life." is not provable. What more, it is sort of an argument from personal incredulity. Basically, "I can't see how life could have arisen without an intelligent designer, ergo, ID."

WT monitors sites?
by Gordy inthere was a post on the other day someone was asking about whether the wt monitors websites such as this and other "apostate" sites.. unfortunately i couldn't find it to add this to it.
i remembered a jw who worked on installing computers at london bethel, some time ago telling me that the wt did monitor websites.
this jw is gradually fading away from being one, so can't say to much about him.

sir82: though it does seem odd, i recall this exact thing happening. a po in scarborough was "knocked down" to MS. at the time though, in all fairness, we thought it was really unusual. we asked everyone, "have you ever heard of this happening before?" but we got no positive responses. (even from my elder dad). so, unusual yes, never happened, no.

in all fairness though, this leak could just be educated guess work. there is nothing terribly significant in it. if you didn't know to use caution in browsing from any bethel internet resource albeit wifi or lan, then you're just dumb. like i said before, ssh tunnel to a proxy, and you're safe. (unless they get a hold of your machine itself)

ackack

All of this is easily defeatable with a simple ssh tunnel however, so, in reality, if a bethelite wanted to, with a tiny bit of computer-saaviness, could overcome any counter measures.

Unusual preaching method I spotted today..
by ackack inwhile waiting for a streetcar today, i noticed an unusal flier stuck to the side of a newspaper box.
why has love of neighbour grown cold?many people feel miserable with no solution.
in israel, jews and arabs live together, but often hate one another.

Removal of YHWH from Old Testament
by ackack inpart of the jw's argument for the inclusion in the jehovah is that there was a custom to remove it from the old testament.
is that true?
am i even getting the argument right?

Flash, the point was removal from Hebrew->Hebrew copies, not translation of the Hebrew scriptures. The watchtower argues that greek->greek copies had the tetragrammaton removed.
