Speaking of music.........
by beksbks inany of you have suggestions for me?
i am not sure what genre this would be considered, or quite how to look for more.
some french jazz or blues of the 40s and 50s i suppose, not sure about the time period there.

:I have recently fallen in love with Wilco's Yankee Hotel Foxtrot... I've only recently discovered them, and I regret not having gotten into them sooner.:
...thats cool, you jumped on board just in time for their live in chicago double disc set: Kicking Television.
hi beksbks,
if you like female with acoustic guitar in hand, here are two albums currently in heavy rotation for me right now:
-Jenny Lewis (of the band Rilo Kiley) and the Watson Twins, and the album "Rabbit Fur Coat"
-Cat Power, "The Greatest" (she croons with that sort of amazing voice you would definitely hear in a smoke filled room)
and if you are in the mood for dudes with guitars try,
-Ray Lamontagne, "Trouble" (before heading off to his job in a shoe factory, this guy woke up one morning to the radio playing Stephen Stills' "Tree Top Flyer" and knew he could never return to his old job again)
-Mark Kozelek (of the band Sun Kil Moon) "Tiny Cities," which is an entire album of modest mouse covers in the smoothest sexiest voice ever. ;) or try, "Ghosts of the Great Highway." -

Jehovah baby: you were my better-half, but just an invitation to the blues.
by tetrapod.sapien inlosing jehovah was like losing a girlfriend that you loved.
you barely had time to flinch when you found out that she had been sleeping with all your friends and stealing your records to pawn off.
that you had just been another sucker on the vine.. when jehovah dumps you, you start looking at yourself longer and harder, and wondering what it was about him that you found in yourself, until all you see there in the reflection is just yourself, dancing with an imaginary hand and waistline.. when jehovah was gone, and the war was over, i realized that all the things that had made me "good", and "moral", and "hate what was bad", didn't mean anything to me anymore.

This question is not meant to be..well..weird but....
by stillAwitness indo any of you parents and/or sons and daughters feel weird about sleeping in the same bed as your parent and/or son or daughter?
is there a certain age that this behavior becomes inappropriate?
i ask this because the c.o and his wife that are staying with us this week: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/9/107349/1.ashx brought along their 18 year old daugher.

hi stillAwit,
yes...that is weird. culturally unacceptable for an 18 year old girl to sleep w. her parents, for sure.
im picturing asking every woman i know over the age of 18, no, after her "coming of age" even, if she would ever dream of sleeping in the same bed as her dad again under ANY circumstance and i cannot think of any one answering back anything other than....
"EWww!!!"
...maybe if she were 8. but not 18. -

Nearly a week smoke-free, and I am MOODY!!!
by AlmostAtheist ini've been off of cigarettes for almost a week now.
i'm chewing nicotine gum like mad, but i can still feel myself melting down inside.
the world seems like such a crummy place to be right now.

by Mulan ini thought i would let you know that my dad, passed away a little while ago, tonight, january 23. they called me at 6pm to tell me.
he had been failing rapidly for the past month, and had completely lost his hearing and was totally blind.

A Room with a View
by Lady Lee inyou just never know what you might wake up to.. .
i can usually see the skating rink in the park below my window.. i can usually see the river between those trees in the background.
i can usually see the mountains beyond that.. as you can see, i can't see any of those things today.

how pretty lady lee. i miss snow.
Whose woods these are I think I know,
His house is in the village though.
He will not see me stopping here,
To watch his woods fill up with snow.
My little horse must think it queer,
To stop without a farmhouse near,
Between the woods and frozen lake,
The darkest evening of the year.
He gives his harness bells a shake,
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep,
Of easy wind and downy flake.
The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.
