this is a story about the heart-pounding rollercoaster ride of buying a house and how i saw the proof that god really does love me.. some of you, especially newer ones, probably don't know that when i left the organization in 1987, i left still believing that the organization was the true religion, which meant, since i couldn't stay in it and keep my sanity, that jehovah didn't want me.
after 12 years of trying as sincerely as is possible to get his help with what was wrong, i gave up and quit, and literally prayed to jehovah saying, "it's obvious that you don't intend to help me; therefore i can only assume you don't want me.
fine; have it your way.
Hey congrats COMF!
You know what, if you put all the creditors in the U.S. together, you would only come up with about 5 vertabrae. No kidding. These are some spineless bastards.
It is good to hear that you have not buckled under the pressure and that you have a new place to call home.

it is reason that engenders self-respect, and reflection that confirms it: it is reason which turns man's mind back upon itself, and divides him from everything that could disturb or afflict him.
it is philosophy that isolates him, and bids him say, at sight of the misfortunes of others: "perish if you will, i am secure.
" nothing but such general evils as threaten the whole community can disturb the tranquil sleep of the philosopher, or tear him from his bed.
Occam's Razor?
Occam's razor is a logical principle attributed to the mediaeval philosopher William of Occam (or Ockham). The principle states that one should not make more assumptions than the minimum needed. This principle is often called the principle of parsimony. It underlies all scientific modelling and theory building. It admonishes us to choose from a set of otherwise equivalent models of a given phenomenon the simplest one. In any given model, Occam's razor helps us to "shave off" those concepts, variables or constructs that are not really needed to explain the phenomenon. By doing that, developing the model will become much easier, and there is less chance of introducing inconsistencies, ambiguities and redundancies.http://pespmc1.vub.ac.be/OCCAMRAZ.html

you can read my bio to find out a little about me.
basically, i need support.
even after two years, i still think.
Hi Buffy,
I really feel for you. While you didn't mention whether you prayed to God, I would recommend doing that once in a while. This may help even if you find that you do not believe in God.
It has helped me on occasion.
It was relatively easy for me to logically dismantle my beliefs and accept that life on earth has evolved. Finding emotional balance and solace is of course a bit more difficult.
Well, if you need help challenging your belief system or if you just need someone to listen, there are people who care.

...what happens to the disabled during a fire when the buildings' elevators are not to be used?.
are they expected to use the stairs?
why is the public not informed about this aspect of emergency preparedness?.
It's good to know that at least some employers are concious of these difficulties, Blondie. Thanks everyone for the discussion.

I hope you aren't serious, Naeblis.
If just a few others respond as you do, you would really have no hope of making it out alive.
Have you ever been in a nearly-suffocating crowd of people? You cannot push people out of your way. It simply doesn't work. You may hurt people, but you will get trampled too.
I was in Peru three years ago in a crowd on one of the popular saints' days. There was no external danger whatsoever as everyone left the plaza, except for the small pushes which propogated along to become huge waves. Still, I think some people could have been seriously injured.
I thought a woman next to me would lose her baby in her arms. I was shoved right into her. I can't adequately describe how I felt at the time, but it was not a nice feeling at all.
I am fairly certain the baby survived, but I don't know what injuries may have been sustained.
Imagining being in that situation during a disaster is more than frightening.

right now my body is half shaven with needle marks and bruises everywhere.
if i were stopped on the streets of chicago looking like this, staggering with fatigue, i would be arrested.
something we men have a hard time getting through our thick heads is that just because we feel basically okay, does not mean that we can or should do a lot physically after a traumatic event ... and i found this out by doing a little too much walking at the hospital chest tightened, became out of breath, and got dizzy.
Amazing,
Yes, take it slow, but don't stop anytime soon!
Please keep well,

There are guidlines available; I have checked online. However, it doesn't help if only the disabled are familiar with them. The general public should know what to do in case of emergencies too.

did anyone notice that john larson used the assembly hall on ventura blvd.
in woodland hills, ca (a neighborhood in the northwest part of los angeles) as part of his backdrop?
you see him next to the assembly hall on the hill to the left of him several times during the segment (to his right as he faces the camera).
Yup, that's my old assembly hall!
