Went off outside walmart.

i was loading my purchase in my car yesterday when i saw out of the corner of my eye a 20 something man in suit and tie walk up to me and he was holding what i knew was a watchtower.. after 30 years of slavery and i was running late i went off on him, before he could even open his mouth i said, i was part of your cult for 30 years before i left.

he asked what made me leave, i told him that if when christ came invisibly to earth in 1914 and saw russell and his little group of bible students were the only people who had it right and so gave him authority over his earthly preaching work, why would you be disfellowshiped for teaching anything russell tought?

I had an odd over emotional reaction recently too, and I understand that feeling of being upset that it can still make you mad.

I know too that feeling of not wanting to go off at JW's because I can remember being on the other side of the fence and being completely genuine about it even though I was wrong.

Still, you made some excellent points! I wish I could be that fluent at the drop of a hat. Im sure if hes a thinking person he will think about what you have said, and if he isnt a thinking person you wont have done any harm to his ego or his world view. In fact you will have done him a favour by persecuting him for being in the 'true' religion!

been inactive for almost a decade. This week they were disfellowshipped because someone had seen Christmas decorations on their home LAST YEAR! a decade they have been gone and the elders track them down and disfellowship them. Their reasoning? They are both prominent in the community

Im gutted! Ive been inactive for almost a decade and I put up Christmas decorations and NO-ONE has tried to disfellowship me! It must be because I am such a snivelling nobody I dont hit the richter scale.

Anyone watched the film 'Sicko'?

i watched this film last night, and it made me really really grateful that we have free health care in the uk.

i know we complain about the state of the nhs, but the bottom line is if there is ever anything wrong with me my first thought will not be 'does my insurance cover this' or 'can i afford this'.. there was one part of the film where michael moore takes some people to cuba to get free health care and one woman picks up inhalers for 5 cents a piece, that are costing her $120 in the us.

she just breaks down and crys at the disparity of the cost.. it was also telling to see the insurance companies employ people specifically to try and find ways to deny claims or to void policies where a claim has been made.

Communalism is the real source of the majority of social ills which its proponents want to blame on free market capitalism.

Well, I am sure no system is brilliant, and every system will have inherent greed and exploitation because every system is run by human beings, who do tend to be greedy and exploit as soon as they have the chance to.

However, as regards health care, I honestly think that everyone paying towards a system that will guarantee to benefit everyone is better than a system where each person pays for a personal system that does not even guarantee to benefit the person who is paying for it, and withdraws cover as soon as the individual has a condition that requires long term financing.

I think your ideas, Liberty, only seem to work while you are in the priviledged group of people who are fit, healthy and of working age. Maybe your ideas might change if something unexpected happened to you that meant you needed lots of treatment that your insurance refused to cover.

And what about when you get old and need to retire and maybe have more serious medical conditions that need attending to? In your world of the free individual who looks after children, the old, the ill, the disabled?

i'm so confused..my daughter has two teenage children, they are a girl just turned 16 and a boy 17... when i was at her house watching tv with them..they made the kids cover their eyes when sex scenes came on.

now she just told me they both seperately went with friends to see the last "saw" movie.... since when is sawing someone up ok to watch but not sex?.

snoozy..a confused grandma...who isn't aloud to voice her opinion....

Those Saw movies are brutal. How can anyone think extreme violence is entertainment? Isnt the world full of enough real violence without inventing vile cruelty to watch as a passtime?

I honestly cant understand the desire to find extreme cruelty entertaining. And the response is always the same - 'oh its funny, you can tell its not real'. Yes but you are still enjoying the portrayal of cruelty upon another human being. Whats that about?

I hate cruelty. Maybe I havent de-sensitised? Maybe not being numb to violence is a good thing?

thats right, about 2 weeks ago i confronted the po and told him i just could not do it anymore.. i genuinely have been under alot of pressure recently with my work so i used this as the pitch.

he was not happy but i received little resistance, which suited me.

i handed him my letter last week before i went on holiday.. i have to say it is a great weight off my shoulders, no book study, meetings for ministry, talks, public talks etc etc.. i will no doubt be the subject of local congregation gossip!

Well done. You may well have saved yourself from some illness. You got out before it took its toll on your health, and thats got to be a good idea.

communalism and nanny states have never provided any thing free to anyone and they never will. Slavery and false charity are the hallmarks of such systems and these lead to stagnation and poverty for all.

Wow, I never realised that by paying taxes to provide a system of health care that catered for everyone was so ...so ...wicked.

There was I just thinking that rather than paying an amount of money every month into a scheme that only ever paid for one person (yourself) and positively tried NOT to pay when you tried to claim, and that excluded hundreds of existing conditions and ailments, it would be better to pay an amount of money every month into a scheme that paid for anyone who needed to claim, and never refused payment for treatment and didnt exclude any existing conditions.

But there you are, how wrong can you be.

LMAO - thats such a funny graph!

C'mon get a sense of humour ABR. If theres one thing I hated about being a JW was that nothing was belly laugh funny. That sensible 'Ned Flanders' humour was just boring.

Seems like Satan gets a bad rep in the the bible. A bit like goats. They get a hash write up too. Shame.
