12 signs you are a modern day Pharisee
by Zoos ini was reading through this list and was struck by how accurately it describes the watchtower royalty class.
not exactly a professional doing the writing but i think he captures it pretty well.. http://frankpowell.me/12-signs-you-are-modern-day-pharisee.

Good stuff, problem is Pharisees only see the straw in their sisters eyes and miss the plank sticking out of theirs. Their spiritual surgeons working in total blindness, imagine a heart surgeon trying to operate on you with a plank sticking out of his eyes, now you have the Pharisee and his Spiritual Surgical Center! -

Kaik many of even the most faithful are begining to contradict the circuit-overseers behind their back because they don't believe the "End is just around the corner". I was talking with a few Witnesses who are in the late Sixties, they were saying they could never retire because they don't have enough money and did not put enough money in the Social Security program here because they did lots of work under-the-table by evading taxes.
They complain how this System does not have the generous benefits for those on the Public Dole like Denmark and Sweden do, the government housing, the government food allowance for the poor and the $30,000 poverty checks some of the Nordic Countries have for people who did not have any savings. The Watchtower could smuggle all the JWs in to those countries and hold out until the End comes, sounds like a good deal!
Ray Franz Jr. and his story about the Asian woman who refused to have her leg fixed because "1975 would usher in God's Kingdom" should have woken up more people than it did. These liars always say "Its so good God did not bring the End back than because many of you would not be alive, he would have zapped you all!" I tire of their lies and how many lives they ruin by making smart people work jobs best suited for people with no brain power, just a thought.

Nothing Says, "I Love You!" Like Institutionalized Shunning!

In my family's case, we have a saying that's been tried and tested over the last ten years! I think you have this wrong, Shunning has become so common members inside the Organization "It's not just for Disfellowshiped Members Anymore!". Regular Publishers can't see the "spiritual warts" on the tips of their noses, that's for all the Holy Witnesses to see! Jehovah's Witnesses and the Governing Body Members are so shallow, just listen to all the recent talks about who is worthy to marry and who is not!
"It's not what's on the inside God see's, it's what we observe on the outside that make's the Witness a certified member of their little group." Listening to JW Broadcast and JW TV were told about all the great works JWs are doing the Elders see, that's how they make their debuts in the Kingdom Theatrical Arena. The JWs who shun each other in "good standing" judge everyone with a different scale they dare not judge themselves with because they would be found greatly lacking! Compare what the Bible say's to comments Tony Morris made about finding a good mate!
6When they arrived, Samuel took one look at Eliab and thought, “Surely this is the LORD’s anointed!”
7But the LORD said to Samuel, “Don’t judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The LORD doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.” 1 Sam 16:7
It's obvious why the Watchtower hates Bible Commentaries, they show their entire system of judging what humans are on the outside contradicts everything God sees in people. The Watchtower has no problem shunning people who are in good standing, they stacks heavy weights of guilt, making their rules unbearable yokes to carry. The leaders and Elders don't lift a finger to help spiritually weak and broken reeds, their only concern is forcing people to live a life their unable to! They do "bind up old men with weighty rules and regulations yet don't lift a finger to help them through!"
"...practical bearing upon all the mighty relations which each man sustains to his Maker.
I. Let us try to analyse the statement on the negative side, to begin with. The Lord does not look upon the outward appearance in fixing His judgment of any human soul. It so happens that this very narrative actually specifies many of those particulars which men are wont to regard as highest in value.
1. For example, the Lord does not look upon one’s social rank. The family of Jesse had no conspicuousness or remarkableness, as the world reckons. Moreover, David was the one that made it royal, and when he was chosen he was by no means the head of it. Good Lady Huntingdon used to say she thanked God for the letter M, for he did not tell Paul to say “not any,” but “not many.” Now it is certainly true that the best part of the world’s highest worth has risen from what would by some be called its lowest sources. It is usual to sneer at the plebian birth of Oliver Cromwell as well as that of Napoleon Bonaparte; but this had nothing to do with any vices they displayed or any virtues they possessed. These men were kings of other men by reason of a manhood which Charles the First; never got from the contemptible Stuarts, nor Louis the Sixteenth from the more contemptible Bourbons. The pride of rank is prone to run into an extreme of superciliousness, of self-seeking, and of oppression. Cornelius Agrippa actually institutes an argument to prove that there was never a nobility which had not wicked beginning.
2. Furthermore, the Lord does not look upon one’s family history. The lineage of Jesse, Obed, and Ruth was quite humble in its origin. David’s mother is not even mentioned by name in the Scriptures. It is pitifully mean and conceited for anyone to set himself up as meritorious because his family once had a hero among its members.
3. Again, the Lord does not; look upon one’s fortune. If anyone supposes that the wealth of the “rich kinsman” Boaz had come down by inheritance into this family estate, we are surely without hint that the property had anything to do with the lot of the shepherd boy David..."

Anti-JW billboard going up in Texas
by sunny23 inthe first ever billboard has been crowd funded on reddit and will be going up.
i'm curious to know if it will cause a spark in any jw's who already have questions or doubts and lead them to research into the child abuse cases and lead them to the thought that the wt and gb are not inspired or gods mouthpiece.
at the very least it will provide people a topic of conversation and questions to the jw's who knock on their door: "so whats this whole sex abuse in kingdom halls thing about i saw on the billboard down the road?

Are trying to make a dent in people who might be faltering religious wise, I hope it has the right effects of helping them free themselves instead of making them cling back to a religion they were on the exit plan shortly. While talking with a kid who has many pioneers in his family, it's weird how he was clinging to the religion even though he celebrated birthdays, Christmas, Easter and Halloween, try to figure that out! His parents are out of the religion or do the annual Memorial Token visit with all the other Outcasts J.W.s pride themselves not being.
So what's the answer to this question, is the goal to warn the public and prevent them from drawing close to a religion that's losing relevance and rapidly become stale like bread without preservatives? The Watchtower wishes their 1914 and Twisted-Generation Teachings had the shelf-life of Twinkies but they don't. JW Facts has shown to anyone willing to open their eyes the Watchtower's Doctrines are falling apart. Who is the targeted audience with the poster because the website used for those who want to discover more information might want to change content to fit the correct demographics. Do you know if they did some experimental research to see who would be best suited for these signs?
I agree with some of what Simon says, they have the low retention rate because their goal is to get you in the door, once your in they dump you off because they can't count time anymore and once you leave their willing to apply all the time needed to expel you! Your screwed twice over, you lost your physically family if you were a bitch or cock to them, and if you get kicked out there goes all your pseudo JW Family that they promised for be there for you!
"I'm not 'against' doing things per se - I just don't think it's the most cost-effective way of reaching people and is the wrong message for the wrong audience. It's unclear what the intention of it is meant to be or how success will be measured - key factors for any advertising campaign.
BTW: JWs already have the lowest retention rate of religions - I think the information is available for those who want it but you can't make people want it until they are ready.

I like the reply to the post:
"No one will ever read this • 4 years ago
I didn't read all the comments. I'm an atheist. If, somehow, I ended up in front of a creator (no matter what creator it would be), I would not be confrontational and argumentative. I would ask sincere questions to find the truth. Isn't that what the whole thing is about? To know the truth? It shows how petty this situation has become that even in the face of IMAGINARY incontrovertible proof, you still IMAGINE that you act like an asshole. Truth is truth. No matter how much it contradicts your worldview. You may not like it, but it's still the truth."
"I read your article(I was not afraid, nothing he said is anything new, the saying "News is the same old evil happening to new people" applies with what's really grieving him. Older books like ("Why I am not a Christian" by Bertrand Russell), Voltaire's anger with all the evil we experienced dates back further. Voltaire was also angry with God over the same injustices and that's been almost 500 years ago. He made the bold prediction "The Bible will be useless in less than 100 years", his house was turned in to a Bible Translation work area, so much for his desire to eliminate people's beliefs in God.
To be fair and not one sided, I read responses to his anger and inability to reconcile the Problem(more like Mystery of Evil) with a God who claims to be good. The author is filled with moral outrage, as one reply posted their dialogue "God say's to him, "I am so glad you too are full of anger by evil." The author has a deep sense of justice, a refreshing morality that surpasses many who believe in God and he/she is trying his /her best to make the World a better place. If she/he is out in the trenches trying to fight against evil, he's one amazing atheist man among many who don't care about the plight of the poor(I mentioned the followers of Joel Olstein who are so wrapped up in their own personal gain through money, they make religion look sick! Bravo for this author and his sense of Right and Wrong!"
Here's a reply to his letter.

They have no guilt throwing away all their followers potential and talent, no remorse they squandered human better spent trying to make the world a better place than spinning wheels for 60-80 years. What good have Watchtower followers done by chasing the low grade theology spoken by their insane old men. I asked a old lady JW "what do I tell your grand-kids and great-grand-kids who are alive in 2050 if I make it that long "why you stayed in the Organization?" She has been a Witness since 1921 and she has no problem with all the false prophecies and errors. She chalks it's all up to "growing pains", "receiving new light", "Jehovah providing direction at a pace his organization is able to keep pace with".
How do you argue with her reasoning, she was born in 1921, baptized in 1935 and remembers the "tar and feathering" and beatings inflicted on Bible Students because of Rutherford's crazy ramblings making trouble with local churches and her uncle was living out of a portable U-haul like trailer in the North Central United States during the Winter. She's been telling me "Look, the End is so close, Satan's System is almost over (since 1972).

It's the Truth Finklestein, it's a "no brainier" the Watchtower's latest methodology will include two of the following byproducts of their "good news of the kingdom", each talk our CO gave had Watchtower's trademark qualities.
1. Get the audience in a state of anxiety, they need to continue the belief the Watchtower has inside information with God when the End will come. Make sure the audience think's the Great Tribulation started last night and the only way they can be saved is by doing more works than they have. Anxiety with a knotted up stomach, make sure the Publishers get nauseous after hearing your talk and feel even worse than ever!
2. Depression, your not doing enough, help the audience feel despair because their no approved by Jehovah, their not "Special Pioneers" so it's doubtful they going to receive a higher reward when the End comes.
3. It's a sin to enjoy yourself in our World, if your taking a vacation without spreading the Watchtower's Gloomy message you need to be afraid! Fear is one of the top three qualities the Watchtower is known for, "Doom and Gloom", add "Self Loathing" and avoid having any confidence with yourself because your a bad person if you do!
4. Question yourself constantly while ignoring all the crazy doctrines Watchtower creates out of thin air. Don't read the Bible because it's written for the "Little Flock", scriptures like "The Bereans were the most noble because they checked to see if Paul and Barnabas were liars" (Acts 16 or 18?) and Revelation 2 "Keep testing those who claim to be leaders in your midst". The focus most always be on question yourself, this makes certain your circuit stays in a state misery, they feel worthless because their not Piousneers. Keeping them with mountains of mental baggage will avoid any thinking outside the box and question ideas like "The Overlapping Generation" that's famous for being the "Square-Circle" of JW teachings!

The last CO visit he said "We are past the threshold of the Great Tribulation", this was eight months ago, can you clarify what he's talking about because my tiny brain can't grasp deep JW Apologetics, what does "Past the Threshold" mean, please help!
