I mostly read, also. A lot of times I just don't feel as if I have anything else to add to the discussion as others have adequately covered everything that could be discussed in it.

As a JW, did you ever stand for the national anthem ...
by Frequent_Fader_Miles inmy conscience wouldn't allow me to do otherwise.
after all, this is the country that schooled me and fed me.
i use all the infrastructure here, and am entitled to all rights and benefits that any other citizen was entitled to.

I always stood. And my father did also. I never knew it was such a big deal until years later.

Former or Current Elders, MS, Pioneers.......Did you enjoy these positions?
by R.F. indid you ever enjoy serving in this way or did you view it more as, "it's the thing that's encouraged, so that's what i'll do"?.
im currently a ms and pioneer(will shed this one immediately) and before i ever were appointed these, i always wanted to.
i thought it was a pretty cool thing for someone my age to be instructing the congo, and to have so many look up to you.

I was a pioneer and I never enjoyed it or felt any "joy" in it. I became one because I didn't feel "joy" just being in "the one true organization." I thought that maybe this would help. Well, it didn't. In fact it showed me more so everything that was wrong with this "organization."

Shunned at Walmart
by Grammy inthe greeter was a woman i once called friend and who (unfortunately now) was baptized after studying with me for a year.
when i walked in i was the only one coming through the door so it's not like she didn't see me, she turned away and ignored me...not wanting to lower myself to her level i simply got a shopping cart and went about my shopping, my first instinct was to report her to management for dereliction of duty but i thought better of that because my doing so would show her it upset me.
i really owe her a debt of gratitude because it was at her baptismal talk that my first strong doubt that it was the truth finally penetrated my foggy brain, as i sat and repeated the baptismal questions to myself at the assembly when she was being baptized i realized they were not the same ones i answered in 1974, that started me on my journey out of the org.

Thank you everyone. I am about to leave to go over there. Greendawn --- No, I am DF'd. I thought I had faded away but I got pregnant a couple of years ago. I wasn't married. I hadn't gone to any meetings but the Memorials in seven or so years. But since I had gone to those stupid Memorials every year, they df'd me because I still had association with dubs. I never went to one JC. I think a lot of them didn't agree with that decision and that's why they still talk to me. No one in my extended family has ever shunned me.

Here I sit worried about my Dad, and I am also, a little bit worried about the dubs. I was baptized and am now df'd. My brother and sister never took the plunge. They'll talk to them. They'll be a bit more affable with me. Some dubs will talk to me but it will always lead back to an invite to a meeting or something about praying to Jehovah. I just sit there with a fake smile (like them, haha) and don't say much, and think why can't they just shun me like they always did everyone else?? Ugh.
