Yes, welcome to the Twilight Zone of the JW religion. Those that are DFs, won't go back, but still practice it and believe in it. I have one in my family, it makes no sense, but they are so indoctrinated, that even though they are not in it, they are still conditioned by it. It is sad.

Met an exJW when I was out Friday Night. His pain broke my heart.
by str8?so is spaghetti..until you heat it up ini was out friday night with a few of the friends i have made since leaving jws behind, when lo and behold, it turns out that one of their boyfriends was an exjw too!
i was excited at first, as i had not yet met someone who was exjw and gay in the flesh until now.
however, my excitement was shortlived.

My Story - Part 1
by Jeremy C ini have never posted my personal story about my years as a jw, and my departure from the organization.
i thought that my personal story might be of interest.
it is my hope that some of my experiences and observations might be of help to some of you who have recently left the organization.

I look forward to reading your story, you are in the right place, many people can identify with what you are writing.
I smiled at the demon obsession with the JWs. They are notorious for it and it brings back memories (albeit, sad ones)...

Is there any Religion WITHOUT a belief in an afterlife / reward?
by ThomasCovenant init's been interesting to read the various discussions that go on here particularly between those who 'believe' in a 'god' and those who don't.
in my opinion when all is said and done it seems to come down simply to.
versus .

As a Zen Buddhist, I don't have a belief in the afterlife or reward. Some Buddhist sects do, but as an individual you create a path that works for you and as a Zen Buddhist, it is not necessary to believe in this.

Mom is gone
by Katheryn ini'm not much of a poster here, but the passing of my mom on friday is as good a reason as any.. she was in deep, no doubt will be refered to as "faithful to the end" by those who eulogize her.
this new chapter in my life of course has me is a reflecive mood.
i'm sure when she was diagnosed with cancer 4 years ago that her hope was that the "new system" would come before she succumbed.

How utterly sad. Do not talk to strangers. I remember being told that as a child and it stuck in my head. What a complete tragedy!

Actually no I never was, although I know some that were - I was different, cool because I was an enigma. I just never much followed the whole JW thing in school, I guess I learned that duality young - that was my time to be whomever I wanted, no I never saluted a flag or sang the national anthem, but I made it known it was because I was "forced to" because of my parents. I went to school with a lot of different types of kids/religions, so it wasn't that big a deal.

Pioneers who never do witnessing in the weekends (when people are home)
by yadda yadda 2 inwere there many in your congregation?
there used to be heaps in my old ones..

My aunt and grandmother were one of those pioneer snobs. Never went out on the weekend, did the 9-5 book studies, a few businesses and "street witnessing" (a farce if I ever saw one). They really looked down on those that knocked on doors, and if you were a non-pioneer, you were just beneath them. Good times!

My parents are going to meet with me!
by Confession init was two years and two months ago when i told my mother that i no longer recognize the wts religion as being "the truth.
" as you may know, to a jw mother, this is like telling her you've decided to jump off a skyscraper.
i have spoken to her only two times since then, and have not seen her or my dad since then.

I wish you the best. It is unnatural for parents to turn against their children simply because of a difference in belief. I hope both of them will come around.

I come here to keep tabs on this cult that enslaves the majority of my family.
I also want to be able to share and help any that are getting out of this organization and I like reading their stories.
Sidenote:
Since I have been coming here I have had the funniest dreams regarding the JW religion. Interesting...
