Jesus, black or white????
by avishai inwhy the hell does it matter, and why do people make an issue out of it?
-

He didn't exist, not in the way people have created him.
Anyway, just another racial issue to keep people fighting. It shouldn't matter at all.

Do You Believe It's Possible We Might Be In "The Time Of The End"?
by minimus inmany religions other than jws believe we are at the "end times".
some individuals believe the earth will really be destroyed either by means of god or man in this century.. what's your take?.

Well lets see. Life has been on earth for at lease 4 billion years( simple cell life) Around 2 billion years ago complex cellular life appeared. Modern humans appeared around 200 000 years ago.
There was at least 5 major mass extinctions that we know of on earth. These extinctions were cause by different things.
- Catastrophic Agents- such as meteorite impacts and comet showers,
- Earth Agents- such as volcanism, glaciation, variations in sea level, global climatic changes, and changes in ocean levels of oxygen or salinity
So it is possible that we see an other mass extinction on earth that can be biologically (humans) caused.
If we do manage to wipe out almost everything I believe that life can evolve into something else with out us being around.
I like this answer best of all. Major kudos. ^^^^

Do JWs miss having large parties, pot-lucks, etc?
by navytownroger inas has been stated before, large congregational get-togethers, cook-outs, baseball games, etc are now greatly discouraged by the society.
back in the 80s in san diego we had parties, night-time beach bonfires, pool parties and frequent restaurant meals with 10+ people.
do current jws seem to miss these sorts of social activities??

I think it depends on where you are located, because my parents go to parties and "gatherings" just about every weekend. In fact, I have a sneaking suspicion that my step-mother and father wouldn't be in the JW religion so much if they couldn't have those events regularly.

When Disfellowshipping extends outside the KH; shunning that never ends
by Layla33 ini was talking about this the other day to a friend that is an attorney for abused children and we started discussing strange family practices and how they affect children.
it was during that conversation that i remembered something i hadn't thought about in years - when i was 12 years old my step-father and mother tried to practice a form of shunning (disfellowshipping) in the family.
of course it wasn't my mother's idea, it was my neurotic mentally deranged stepfather that decided because my mother and i had disagreed about something in a silly judicial meeting, that i was to be shunned from the family.

I was talking about this the other day to a friend that is an attorney for abused children and we started discussing strange family practices and how they affect children. My crime: I refused to lie for my mom during the meeting, so when we got home my step father announced that I was disfellowshipped from the family. I was not to eat with my family, I was to come home do my homework and stay in my room. This went on for exactly six months. Now, no one in my extended family thought this was right. In fact, my grandfather who was a PO at the time (of another congregation), wanted to bring my step-father in to a committee meeting because he considered it abuse. My father never followed it, grandparents, even my brothers never followed it - we all realized that my step-father was a sick deranged man.
But it got me to thinking, has anyone ever experienced this disturbing trend outside of the JW religion, not read or enforced by the KH itself, but because of your own families? I believe this to be a practice of child abuse, which was the catalyst for the conversation with my good friend. Anyway, I would be interested to hear if anyone else has had to deal with this.

It never occured to me that people can not like donuts. For the ones who don't like them, what kind of sweets do you like?
Chocolate. I like dark and milk. I like sweets, but not too much. I like natural sweets though, not too much sugar.

It tasted to me like warm, sugar-frosted lard.
Yes, that's about the size of it. I don't like sweet things like that, it has an opposite effect.

I was born in it. My parents were essentially born in it. I left when I was 18. It's a done deal.
