If not a charity, I ask for their name and C/B #. Then I report them. I am on a do not call list and I mean it!

PRAYING.... Is it the answer to eating disorders?
by Gill ini found that the article on 'young popele ask....do i have an eating disorder?
' in the awake magazine for october 2006 to have worrying advice in it.. apparantly the answer to this problem, according to the wtbts is prayer!
how did psychiatrists miss this for so long?.

Mental health people get folks to examine what is really troubling in their lives. For a JW to do that will open up a real can of theocratic worms(NOT a disease one would want!). The WT can't have JWs examining their lives and THINKING deeply about issues.

Either it is a big lie, or they had been around JWs enough to want to not have to ever see them again! Just think, would you willingly listen to preaching by a JW?

Disco Banned?
by Wordly Andre ini am a bit too young to remember this but, was disco really banned by the jw's??
?

I don't know if disco was invented by gays to lure us all in, but I did see a large disco retrospective at the EMP (experience music project-Seattle Center) and the gay lifestyle and disco had very strong early connections, then went more mainstream. It was a fascinating exhibit and while that one is over, if you ever get a chance to see the EMP, take it. Its very cool.

I was only around at the tail end of disco and never really heard anything about it at the hall. But whenever I went to school dances, my mom would tsk tsk. Never forbade it though.

August 22, 2006 - Likely the end of the world according to Muslims.
by Elsewhere inhttp://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?s=c55608db5b5834c2316826ebb719cb6c&threadid=252956
we now have a date for armageddon august 22, 2006.. .
a top expert on the mideast says it is possible iran could pick aug. 22, 2006 the anniversary of one of islam's holiest events, for a cataclysm shiite muslims believe will forever resolve the battle between "good" and "evil.

Nah, they won't do it. It would just prove that Bush wasn't lying about Terrorism.

I think I would have more fun if I was "the most dangerous kind of evil". So, for those among you more advanced in evilness(sp?), how does one turn to the dark side? Cause I am sure not getting what I want!

Toastmasters is a good alternative to the ministry school if you simply need to learn how to speak in public. It is better in that they have more than one subject to speak on, one isn't told what to say or think and overall, the skills are something that can be put on a resume. How many people want to put WT involvement on a resume? EWWW. Unemployment anyone?

The elders in my cong. were ok till I was molested, at which point they gave me the second degree (did I scream?) Jesus Christ!
One of the best elders I ever knew was an elder at whose home we had a youth WT study. At the 1975 study (remember in the early 80's when they did the study about the 1975 expectations?) he told us all his own plans to 'beat the system.' He told us how convinced *He* was that 1975 would be the end. He actually did some kind of sleezy things, but i don't remember the details-it was one of those 'the worldly people are all gonna be destroyed in armageddon anyway' kind of attitudes that prompted his rather unethical behavior. In any case, he was very honest, let it all hang out and told us frankly his impressions of the time. Now, we were all teenagers and had a pretty good memory of those days too-only most of our expectations were nightmarish and frightening. I was 9 in 1975. So my problem is with all the other elders who thought he was out of line for being honest. And the fact that he stepped down and then moved out of the area soon after-though he had been in the same house for over 20 years and had businesses in the area-told me that he was run out of the congregation. I don't know what ever happened to him, but he sure got me thinking. I love that guy. The youth WT studies on Sat. nights ended a couple of weeks later. Which worked for me, I spent more time with my worldly friends since us JWs were not supposed to discuss spiritual things anymore.
