How does that fit with the replacement 'anointed' that have been filling the slots of the unfaithful ex anointed? You know, the "Generation that will not pass away, Part B"

Theory
by Theredeemer insomeone mentioned this in a post and i feel the need to make this theory its own thread.. i think that this past zone visit was intended to be that weird!
i think it was a test of faith in this regard, are you loyal enough to ignore the crazyness of all that was stated?
what if they are setting up for radical changes and are testing the waters to see if this current group of jdubs are going to readily drink the kool aid?.

Everyone keeps looking for some big method to the madness or plan or scheme. I think they are just a bunch of dumbasses doing dumbass things and there are nearly 8 million people who are buying into the stupidity.
Some folks make dumb decisions and learn from them. Some people make it a lifestyle and think if they say it is brilliant enough, then it will be.

Kate, nice is the way to go. That doesn't mean doormat, it just means . . . nice! I hope I would handle things as you are, but when I left, and was announced as DA'd, I was afraid to talk to anyone because I knew they would reject me-they were already looking straight through me as if I were invisible. I admire that you aren't allowing people to do that to you WHILE you are still being kind.
As to BOTR, there seems to be a lot of defensive posturing in her posts at times. I have enjoyed many of her posts over the years and I hope everything is ok.

I Waited Until My Wedding Night To Lose My Virginity And I Wish I Hadn't...
by Divergent ini found this article interesting & just wanted to share.
after going through my teenage years trying to be the perfect jw, i realized that trying to live up to the standards imposed on me have been for worse & not for better.
i was feeling miserable, repressed, unfulfilled, with a great lack of self confidence & self esteem.

We do tend to romanticize virginity, don't we? And losing it. And dying with it. For me, I always associated someone wanting to have sex with me as loving me(or thinking I was worthy in some way)-and vice-versa. How dangerous an illusion that was! I felt so unlovable that when that particular barrier was removed, I set about proving how desirable/lovable I really was.
What a mess! Sex can be a beautiful and wonderful thing, but it sure can get twisted up with a lot of nonsense. The act doesn't do that-Our minds do.

Muslim refuses to stand for the National Anthem
by designs incleveland cavaliers basketball player dion waiters stayed in the locker-room during the national anthem at a recent game.
asked why he responded 'i am rededicating myself to my muslim faith'.
another basketball player recently refused to stand for the anthem while on the court and was fined by the nba, dion chose to remain in the locker-room.. have you heard of followers of islam refusing to stand for the national anthem or to say the pledge of allegiance on religious grounds.. .

I have participated in two national anthems where the majority of the population 90-99% were Muslim and there was no lack of participation observed. No one was getting a scolding, so I am not sure where that comes from. I never heard of it and I have done some pretty serious Muslim things, like go to Mecca. No one ever gave a talk on the evils of national anthems. Arab countries all have them. I don't know of any Muslim countries that don't.
Maybe he was in the locker room so that he could pray at the right time? I have never heard of that particular 'religious stand" in Islam or among Muslims or Muslim nations.

Don't name her Virginia. Beautiful name, but shortened to Virgin (granted the emphasis sounds different than virgin, but STILL!) Good friend in elementary school with that name. I still suspect she quit school in the 7th grade from sheer embarassment.

I like classic names, but those vary according to your language and culture. Noor or Nur means light, Nabila means noble. Binta means daughter.
My main suggestion-a name that is light. To the tongue and to the ear. But not comical or ridiculous or too religious. Chastity and Charity are the kinds of names that beg for a rebellious teenager to fly in the face or it. Or get a sex change operation.
Esperanza means Hope-I think that it is a beautiful name to the tongue and the ear and the heart.
I have an Irish background and my kids names reflected that.
CONGRATULATIONS ON THE NEW BABY!!! I'm happy for you-what a blessing.

Hirsi has a story to tell and quite a bit of it has been shown to be fiction. She is polarizing and calls for the abolition of religious rights of all Muslims. She got what she wanted though and is now a US citizen. Having been in Africa and Asia, I understand the things people will do to escape the poverty and difficulty of life there-especially after having tasted the west. HOWEVER, I don't get to speak for all ex-JWs, all American women, all people born on the west coast or all formerly fat people any more than Hirsi can speak for all Muslim women or about all Muslim men or Islam itself, for that example. Her experience is her own just as everyone has their own experience with family and community and faith. I think she has mixed her issues and blames Islam for all of the ones (that she might actually have).
Does Danny Haszard speak for all ex-JWs, Cofty? Do you think that his experience is every JWs experience? Do you have extreme IBS? Do all ex JWs kill themselves or lead the life of degenerates? That is what all JWs think about ex-JWs. I read about people with heinous JW families, physically and sexually abusive parents, families who shun completely. I read about evil elders and wicked elderettes. . . but is that every JWs experience? Is it something that their Bible tells them is acceptable or desirable? Does every Christian get tarred with the brush of the crusaders or nazi's? How about the fact that the most dangerous place in the world for a woman to be is in Christian Congo? Is that because Christians are inherently evil or that black people are or black men are? Would you hesitate to lay all the social ills of sub Saharan Africa at the foot of Christianity? Cause it is mostly Christian. Rwanda-mostly Christian. The most westernized countries there are filled with criminal violence-it is risky to live/visit there.
I don't think Hirsi is qualified to speak about Islam. She can speak of her family, her neighborhood and her own experience, but for you to dump it on all Muslims or Islam is as stupid as thinking that the Jackson Five's experience as children is reflective of all JWs experiences or that all black male JWs live like Prince or that all unbaptised JW publishers can pose nude in magazines and not have any repercussions publicly in the congregation for it.

I responded to a factual error. I am not here to defend or justify any religion to anyone, Cofty. Anyone who wants to promote ignorance and provincial behaviors is on the same continuum as terrorists and extremists of all bents. Whatever their purported motivations they are not for the betterment of anyone.

Small (tiny) victories
by disposable hero of hypocrisy ini had a conversation with my wife today about child abuse as it's in the news, and i managed to slip in the fact that wt (not an individual, but the .org itself) has just been ruled against in the states to the tune of 13 million or so.
she knows i'm opposed to the procedures we have in place, and she can definitely see that it makes sense to go straight to the police, and said she would do immediately if it were our children.
we had a fairly local case where the elders positively marched the offender to the station themselves, and good for them for doing so, but she most likely thinks everyone would do that out of common sense.

To the OP:I'm glad your locals are USING their common sense instead of putting it away in the interests of the organization-as clearly way too many elder bodies have done. Hopefully they are all getting the message that the police participation in an accusation of child abuse is not optional.
Hopefully your wife will see the truth of these things eventually. Good for you that you care enough to even try any more. I think the WT/JWs are very wearing on a marriage.
