  used to claim (and probably still does) that masturbation would turn you into a homosexual.

  they, of course, failed to explain the process by which that happened and since masturbation is likely a near universal practice, the claim fails the test of logic, as homosexuality is not the majority form of sexuality.. but over in the islamic world, an equally illogical claim is made.. mucahid cihad han, a turkish televangelist .

  This is why I don't hold hadith in any particular esteem. I will take wisdom where I find it and when it looks ridiculous, I figure that the "saying" came about when it suited someone, long, long ago who was trying to get his kid to stop masturbating.

  Its kind of how I view the Bible. Sayings, not particularly inspired. There may be some really good stuff, there may be some really true teachings, but it is all sayings that made the cut somewhere along the line.

  FYI, hadith are not considered in any way inspired. Many give them (selectively, as they are wont to be selective) too much influence. I think a lot of the nonsense hadith were put in there to inspire a desired action by someone who wasn't otherwise compliant-until they are told that "the prophet said it to. .. .(someone respected who allegedly repeated it). Stupid game of telephone gone wild.

  Village Idiot-they don't care about the money. Its not THEIR personal wallet and they have lots more where that came from. Its not even that much money.They are all about "the principle of the thing". Or the lack of principles in their case.

  I was in high school. Two years after I was DAd, I was on homecoming float with the little girl I babysat, who was 2. I was on the committee and had agreed to babysit since her folks were desperate. Soon afterwards, I found that I left so I could live a disoloute lifestyle. . .and had a little girl. I was a virgin when the rumor started. My mom heard it at the hall. I think it softened her towards me since she knew it was false. They were pretty ugly about it. Years later a JW saw me with my son and made comments about his big sister. He might still wonder about that!

  Is Lett a real person or some kind of poorly made robot? Nothing else online has such a dysfunctional synchronization unless they are dubbing in a a different language family. Like Japanese or Swahili. The cartoons look more like real people talking than any Lett video has. So is he real or is he a virtual JW?

  earlier this morning, i posted off to the the institute of engineers an application for membership as an "engineering associate":.

  - today being just over 40 years since the congregation's retards elders made me abandon my apprenticeship.. (in this part of the world, the pre-1975 hype was taken to that level.

  not being content to prevent young persons attending university, they went one step further and treated with hostility any youngster who would "tie up five years of their lives" by entering into an apprenticeship.

  some terrible flooding happening there.. i never realized that texas was so prone to serious floods and flash-floods because of the geography and weather.

  it tops the stats nearly every year for flood fatalities.. stay safe, stay dry if you can and don't take any chances.

  water is unbelievably powerful - whatever vehicle you have it can sweep it away like a twig.

  I have friends and family all over Houston. I should be there now, but glad I'm not, honestly. My neighborhood has lots of flooding but my home is ok. No one I know is harmed, thankfully. Others are, tragically.

  recently, several comments have been made in various threads in reference to some of the recent changes to a few of the rules by which jehovah's witnesses must live their lives in unquestioning compliance.

  the assertion has been made that these rules are a "relaxing" of previous restrictions.

  the suggestion has been made that this somehow indicates a corresponding relaxing or loosening or lessening of the authority which the governing body (gb) holds over the rank and file (r&f) members of the religion.
