OMG, I’m gonna get Old and Die.
by John Aquila inwhen it finally clicked,.
and you realized there was no 1914, there was no generation that would see the end of a wicked system, there was no paradise around the corner, .
what went through you mind?.

I got over the JW illusion decades ago. I have however hit the thoroughly mddle aged realization that I will really die. Not sure if there was some niggle of JW hope in there-id love to blame the Borg for my silliness, but I think mortality just hit me over the head. -

Who I really am
by JWdaughter inthis is so stupid, but yesterday i was shopping and i saw this wild blouse and i thought-if i could dress how i really wanted to, i would buy that blouse.
i walked away and was thinking-why the hell shouldn't i dress how i want to?
because someone told me that orange paisley print is tacky?

I am looking over my old posts and this is one of the earliest that I ever started a thread for. I saw the title and thought I would have had something very profound to say.
I had forgotten all about that blouse, but seeing the post I remembered it vividly and I wore it for a LONG time, I loved it. I still love orange and still love paisley.
Its funny how we let our upbringing and expectations shape how we feel about something like a shirt! Really, it was about me, and I am still a well bathed hippie chick at heart and am in fact now wearing an orange top with my jeans. . . so not much has changed. My ex husband probably didn't even care about that shirt. . . that was really all the JW upbringing talking and I haven't been JW since I was fifteen. My 49th birthday is in a few days, so go figure!
For all those who think I am a repressed, oppressed Muslim-Sorry. I'm wearing jeans and a orange blouse and my hair is making me WISH I wore a headcovering, because I am having a very bad hair day (curling all over).

7 year old boy refused blood by Jehovah Witness parents to potentially save his life .Wouldn`t you take that chance ? To save his life ?
by smiddy inan article in the heraldsun.com.au sunday may31 2015 by reporter kay dibben.
and i quote.
" a hospital has taken the extraordinary step of asking a court to allow a boy to be given a blood transfusion during a liver transplant, after his jehovah witnesses parents refused.. brisbane`s lady cilento children`s hospital has asked the supreme court to authorise medical staff to give any necessary lifesaving blood during and after the boys liver transplant.. the boy "j" aged 7 has been on a liver transplant for a year and his parents want him to have this operation but giving blood is against their religion.. the child... is small for his age has portal hypertension and a genetic condition that can affect multiple organs .. end of quote .

I have learned that there is a pretty common understanding in some JW circles that once the court takes control that the JW parents are freed of responsibility and will often just quietly let done what needs to be done in the case of minor children. They'd rather have their kid than the notoriety of refusing blood andlosing their child to gain JW stature/martyrdom. Some more hardcores won't, but some just tell the doctor to have the court order in place so that the proper care will be given.
I am sure that this is a more sophisticated JW loophole that is not known or available to many JW families.

Lett likes big butts, and he always lies.
by cappytan inthe parody video is being released before the "official" release on sunday!.
video being re-edited...stand by.. edit: here is the re-cut with wingcommander's excellent input.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s5h1cj527s4.

Somewhere there is a thread about a 'parody' of the Lett presentation (June). I gotta say, standing on its own, it didn't need any commentary to illustrate his supreme ridiculousness. Had I shown it to my mom before she saw it with her JW friends, she would have said it was an apostate lie. -

Big eyes- jw's all excited about the movie
by purrpurr infor those still attending.
have you seen an excitement go through the dubs about the tim burton film big eyes?
they reckon it will give a "fine witness".. i've seen it and found it really irritating, basically margaret keane is such a timid mouse that she allows her husband to take all the credit for her work.

My mum had to see it. I was stalking redbox to find it for her. It was movie of the week worthy. Another example of JWs finding someone with a weakness. Keane may be a fair example though of a person that is better off with the org, or at least one who will never be able to doubt out loud without having the internal and external demons making her wonder where else can she go? -

Hope y'all in Texas are doing OK !
by Simon insome terrible flooding happening there.. i never realized that texas was so prone to serious floods and flash-floods because of the geography and weather.
it tops the stats nearly every year for flood fatalities.. stay safe, stay dry if you can and don't take any chances.
water is unbelievably powerful - whatever vehicle you have it can sweep it away like a twig.

THe printed books are HUGE. One would need a fairly large safe to hide them in(they won't hide easily among your socks and t-shirts)..I love that it is available online. Printing is super expensive-just to set up the first run would not be cost effective for the limited demand. -

Jovies - Thanks
by Doltologist ini have posted questions on christian web sites.
those questions have always been polite and i have never used questionable language.
the questions weren't exactly in support of christians though.. what did i get for my efforts?.

JWTalk seems to be the JW website to go to if you want to see how active JWs respond to your commentary.
I think skeptics in the pub sounds fun-so long as there is an actual pub involved. I don't drink, and I am a believer in God, but I enjoy a lively discourse among thinking people:) Have fun!

What did you think of the ones that married, “Out of the Truth” but would still defend the WT Teaching?
by John Aquila inwhen i conducted the wt study and the article was on marrying only in the lord, it seemed that the ones who commented the most were persons who married a non-jw.
in fact, they were the ones that always told the young single jw girls to pioneer and never marry a worldly person.
"because i know what its like and believe me it's no fun" .
-
JWdaughter
They are trying to overcome the stigma of the marriage (which is not forbidden explicitly, but is definitely considered weak) by insinuating that they are in some way suffering or being persecuted in their marriage-thus removing the stigma and inviting the crown of martyr to be offered to them. -

Running into a JW on a mission
by Illuminated ini was walking in an empty area of a main street recently when i noticed an elderly woman with stacks of magazines headed towards my direction looking as though she's on a mission.
she drew closer to me, and made eye contact.
do you have children, are they jw's?.

I'm glad at the tone you took. I hope she is a bit curious.
