Heading to the Spain and the Holy Land
by CalebInFloroda inas part of my journey as a sepahrdic jew, i am off on a journey that will take me to both spain and israel to apply for the right of return offered to me by both nations.. as such i will be absent from this delightful forum during this life-changing odyssey.
till that time we are together again, be assured you are in my thoughts and (for those of you who do not mind) my prayers.. please know you have contributed to me greatly and have helped me much, all of you.
it is rewarding to freely share, discuss, even debate issues here so freely.

Angry at first
by BeautifulMind inso when my mom died in 2007 the main thing that kept me from losing it was that i knew i would see her again in the earthly paradise that i read and sang about in the jw publications.
i honestly fully believed in it.
we were best friends and it was devastaing to lose her.

Stillin, I'm with you. We think we know a lot at various stages. Some of what we know is contradicted by reality, some by the humility of realizing we just don't have all the answers but what happens after we die is speculative on this side of life. So it's kind of an adventure, but reminds us to live and love while we can. -

Should Charity Organizations Be Forced To Be Transparent As To Where The Money Goes? Watchtower's Financial Books Should Be Made Public
by Brokeback Watchtower ini know there is much encouragement for charities to have financial transparency and i'm all for it reguardless of whether they are a religion or whatever.
also lawsuit pay out should made easy identifiable on tax form too.
any charity should be accountable to the general public when funds are used to pay out lawsuits so that the general public is aware of where their money is going.

I think they should all be required to be extremely transparent and restricted, too. It should be proven to do good in the world,, not just a shell/vehicle to move money around.

What were you favorite book in the organization? I know what you're thinking...LOL!
by BashfulAshG inwhat were *your favorite *books in the organization?.
out of all of those books, i liked "mankind's search for god.
" however, it appears to me that this book is incredibly obscure and no one recalls studying it during the old book study format.

I left a little before Franz, so I wasn't unduly influenced, either way. Still liked that little book. Ugly color, though. Puke. Wasn't it? -

The Study on James. With few exceptions, I thought it was a good study book. I actually still love James (in the Bible). I actually think it represents early Christian ideals more than many of the books. Probably just biased though because I agree 99% with it still-and I'm not even Christian, anymore. Again, my bias is likely evident in this. I haven't studied it in years though, so it could be just a vague affinity, but I did like it better than the rest of the NT. -

Had to go to a JW funeral yesterday.
by Crazyguy init's amazing how ones shun former witnesses or faders.
a couple of people said high to me that know i do not go but the rest no.
but the main reason i post is how ridiculous the funeral talk was.

My dad wasnt a JW. We had a family memorial too. Just a picnic. No jws but my mom and her bro even though dad had worked on khs and JWs homes to be nice-because he was a GOOD guy. Not by any religious measurements.

Id just say to hell with it. Now. I wrote a big freaking da letter after my last run in with them (brief). I was a kid and didnt know better. I was mad:) fun to write and as it was long before aol was a sparkle in anyones eye, there was some serious reasarch involved. Waste of valuable youth! Im much older now, theyd not even getva cut and paste any more. Even if iif theyd read it, its not worth it.
