Today's Special Day Assembly Expenses and the $10,499 Deficit. Silent Majority?
by Tenacious intoday i attended a one-day assembly in my hometown.
i knew when it came time to read the afternoon expenses that it would be an incredibly high and ridiculous amount that was nowhere near the real expenses for that day.
sure enough, after lunch came the announcement.

I am soooo impressed by the members of the circuit or whatever. 1,700 of them and only 500 donated? That means probably more than 1500 of them are waking up or at least not total idiots. If I'm not assuming too much by the utter lack of donations. JWs maybe are donating to actual needy people or taking care of their families an buying their kids some ice cream!! -

Enjoy life without others influencing the way you look at it. Take off all the lenses of the world, WT or politicial or philosophical or ideological and just observe with normal, natural eyes. Its kinda crazy wonderful!! -

When I was in Cairo, I used to order the best thing from a local sushi place. It was a frozen watermelon slushie-just real watermelon, frozen and then blended. In the summer, in Cairo, there is nothing better to ask for. Its easy enough to make, I wonder why more folks don't make it?
Edited to say: No alcohol was used, but I imagine that someone could do so if they were inclined.

prove? there is nothing scripturally evideced or even vaguely INDICATED. This is very disappointing-as a JW, I could argue scripture about things that mattered. It might be a unique interpretation or "take" on a subject, but at least an arguement could be made (mostly). This one is just so far removed from having any reasonable explanation that it seems like a waste of energy to finish reading what it is that they say. It is just so much NONSENSE. No point. Just an excuse for their continued existance. -

Babygirl, I'm sorry. It is funny how we used to call ourselves brothers and sisters but in situations like this, how many of us feel that we literally have the same mom? Truly we have become sisters in this. I'm sorry, sweetie. Sometimes people are so blinded by false things that they can't see truth standing in front of them. Truth is your child crying in pain and needing comfort. If that isn't 'family business' then I sure as hell don't know what is. I am on the west coast and will soon be driving to E. Texas. If you are somewhere in between, message me and I will stop by and meet you for some coffee and a hug from a mom that has enough love for you in her heart. -

Such a sad story. The family must be devastated. The other driver should be in jail for a good long time. That was disgraceful, dishonorable and evil in every way. Accidents happen, but drinking and driving and leaving the scene of such an accident is inexcusable. -

US Royal Commission or Something Like it
by mrmagic inwhat would be the equivalent of a us version of the royal commission?
i'm not just asking about one specific governmental entity, but perhaps even a conglomerate of entities or series of events that would need to take place to cause a domino effect....a tipping point.
who do you think needs to be contacted that can turn around and contact a lot of others?looking for thoughts and ideas.

while the outright abuses need to be addressed I think that they are bringing children into judicial committees (whether as victims/sinners/both) needs a particular spotlight put on it. The abuse issue (with confessional privilege and reporting requirements) needs to be across the board for every organization/individual, even. HOWEVER, the WT policy of JCs is harmful to kids. I know it is a religious practice, but when dealing with minors, it becomes an abuse in itself. I think that is a item particular to the WTBTS/JWs that needs to be highlighted for the abuse THAT IT IS! -
