  Drink Driving

  with the christmas almost upon us i would like to share a personal experience with you about drinking and driving.. as you may know the local police are having a serious go at drink drivers this year... well, a couple of days ago i was out for an evening with friends and had a small number of drinks before dinner, followed by some rather nice red wine.

  feeling jolly i still had the sense to know that i may be very slightly over the limit.. that's when i did something that i've never done before - i took a taxi home.. sure enough on the way home there was a police road check, but since it was a taxi they waved it past.

  i arrived home safely without incident.. this was a real surprise as i had never driven a taxi before, i don't know where i got it and now that it's in my garage i don't know what to do with it.. any ideas?.

  I just found out that my late dad got a dui when he was a young man. It instantaneously removed my rather unforgiving attitude about them, becsuse my dad was a good human being. Even to my ex who did also. Its still a damn fool thing to do, but if you get away without damaging anything but your pocket book, its a cheap lesson. But learn from it.

  One relative damaged a life irrevocably and the consequences of it destroyed him. Suicide was his way out. 24 years ago. It still hurts everyone remotely involved, including the other party and both big families.

  also, i'm not quite sure which sub-forum to post this to....

  i have a typical religious background for my country; grew up with lutheran christianity (which was our state religion up until 2012; we now have a secular constitution).

  Welcome.

  One thing you have noticed is that their answers/responses are inconsistent and often contradictory. That is because the religion changes and always has a long winded response to questions that seem so simple they shouldn't be questions. A normal person would not worry about their religious body's opinion about issues of rape, assault or murder until long after police were called, medical aid had been rendered and the justice system was doing its thing. For JWs though, it seems they need to ask elders to consult legal. In fairness though, I think for murder or assaults in progress, most would call 911. Unless it was spousal.

  I'm glad! Those who earlier expressed interest in printing-when no one knew who owned them anymore- can now perhaps help the Dystras to get it going again. No excuse to bootleg them. Yay!

  This is a good thing and I can't believe folks are trying now to make it about a drama or agenda. If you support the publishing of it, you now can help. If you want a legit copy, hopefully they will be available soon. Win-win.

  All those Muslims, trying to be converted by JWs. How much you wanna bet that they use the name Allah instead of Jehovah?

  Ok, I don't know that, but, I'm curious to know if it is the case.

  edit. They do use Allah for God, but I don't know enough Arabic to find a "jehovah" on the arabic site. Genesis 1;1 has Allah.

  Congregation average

  a while back at our co visit, he commended the cong.

  because our average hours had gone up.. we went from around 7.3 to about 7.5. i recall the days when anything less than 10 was considered awful.. of course now, they don't even print the hours in the km or anywhere.. i was wondering how these numbers compared to other congregations?.

  Wow, this so sounds like a sales organization. Only they usually provide the materials and actual training. Pay for gas. . . .JWs should take the one thing they learn how to do and become life insurance agents or something. Maybe employee benefits-aflac. . .

  Welcome. I'm angry at the practices in JW-land, but we were all the people. Most people are sincerely trying to do the right thing. So, no sense hating on individual JWs, though I do hate the Ruling class and its manipulations.
