Any Dubs in your Hall that were puportedly "Demonized"?
by Sailor Ripley inwe had a whole family that moved into our congo when i was about 10. they had kids from 6 to 16-years-old.
there was always talk of their beds spinning and shoes floating, et cetera.
they lived in a literal shack so i didn't want to go there to spend the night, but i always wanted to go and "check it out" to see some fireworks.

My radio was demonized once, but I wasn't a JW. Thought I was well and truly going nuts for awhile till I realized that my son had discovered a remote(For the CAR stereo!) and thought it was great fun to mess with me. My demon is now 18 and I am gonna get him back for that, somehow. Waiting for the perfect prank. . . My JW aunt (now out, off the drugs and alcohol and a lovely person to know) had her house demonized back in the 70's. . .but I think many young JW women who got things from garage sales had that issue then. . .right before the big '75.

Abstaining from Blood-Eating meat etc.

heck, my understanding of nursing is that babies often get a good dose of mothers blood-you would not believe what the lactation consultants say you have to nurse through!!
so then, after looking at the bible instructions about blood, would not one need to consider the context?

Heck, my understanding of nursing is that babies often get a good dose of mothers blood-you would not believe what the lactation consultants say you have to nurse through!! So then, after looking at the bible instructions about blood, would not one need to consider the context? Sure, kosher meat is bled well, but blood remains, right? So when God said in the Bible(for those of us who assume that he had anything to do with it!) to abstain from blood, was it simply consuming it in any form or was it an attitude toward life that we were supposed to have? A reverence for it, perhaps? So saying, I would never eat blood sausage or casually accept a transfusion (for yuk & possibly spiritual reason and health reasons respectively), however,I would, if a life or death matter accept a transfusion for myself or my child. No one dies when they give blood. Many die who do not get it. Who is showing more respect for the soul-the life than one who attempts to live? Who shows less respect than one who will, for the sake of obeying a religious interpretation, die rather than accept the gift of life given by another. I wonder who is truly pleasing to the God who put us on this earth to have joy? And live?

NEW INK!!!
by RichieRich inso, i went to my friendly neighborhood tattoo parlor today, and recieved my second and third (or 19th and 20th - depending on how you look at it) tattoo.
the chest is an extremely sensitive area, and so i was very aware that i was alive for the majority of the time.. oh, birds are often seen as a symbol of freedom, happiness, and arriving safely.

HELP.... kingdom hall to be erected in my community....town meeting!
by meljon injust spoke with the mayor of our town about a notice in this mornings paper, re the jws are applying to build a hall in our community,,,,,,,,, would anyone care to comment on what they would say at this meeting?
i mentioned to him that it is a cult and i do not want it in our town.
he admitted he didnt know much about the jws and their beliefs and i told him about the abuse and actions being handled by the elders and not the police and also the non government views.

The land use designation will matter, the traffic and environmental impacts etc will all influence whether or not they can get the permission to build. However, the fact that they are simply obnoxious generally will not. Freedom of religion and all that. And its a good thing. But in some of our local congs they have 3-4 groups meeting, and that would highly impact nearby community roads and traffic. That is probably the best defense. If it is a totally new hall to the area, they may only have enough for one group, but in one I went to in NJ they had two actual halls on site and several congregations. HUGE amounts of traffic. Nearly Lost my Son Yesterday
by XJW4EVR ini got a call from the ex, she was in tears, and said that our son was struck by car while riding his bike to work.
when i got to the er, he was lying there in the bed.
he was bruised & scratched.
