I was bothered by the full time JW employee at a major hospital in tacoma who spent her Career dealing with JW blood issues. A nurse, she had access to patient records and decision making as well as obvious ties to the local JWs and hlc. No JW would have felt free to take any care accepted by the WTBTS. There was a fissure in their freedom to have privacy and make medical decisions. I rather suspect that whatever literature the provides to the medical establishment comes at a price, as well as training, speaker fees, etc. I am sure bloodless surgery development is funded outside the WT. Bet they are getting grant money funneled through the WTBTS in some way. They don't do anything unless they gain from it.

2001 Symposium on "Problems of Bloodless Surgery" in Moscow - Sherri Ozawa explains the HLC and bloodless medicine clinics
by OrphanCrow ina few years ago, prior to researching the field of "bloodless medicine", i was under the mistaken impression that bloodless surgery was a field of medicine that sat "outside" of the watchtower influence and operated as a part of mainstream medicine.
since that time, i have discovered that "bloodless medicine" has been founded and maintained by the watchtower society itself.
bloodless medicine is the watchtower society - it has been organized by people who have been trained by the wts and therefore, the bloodless industry is controlled by the wts.

How Far Apart Were Your Legs?
by Joe Grundy inseveral threads on here about the excellent bbc r4 programme this week ('the report') focussing on rape and abuse in barry, south wales, jws.
fat pervert mark sewell later got 14 years and i hope he is enjoying every minute of it.. the courageous ladies who spoke on the programme were articulate, reasonable and made a tremendous impression.. the quote in the thread title made an impression on me, and i hope, on all listeners.. forget religious, theological, 'biblical' issues and cut to the basics.
a rape victim was asked to demonstrate - to demonstrate, ffs - to three unqualified (middle-aged at least, presumably) men just how far her legs were apart when she was raped.. i have rarely heard anything so outrageous, and i used to investigate rape and abuse in my profession.

Ray Franz and You.
by John Aquila inif ray franz would have kept his mouth shut and not disfellowshipped, and remained part of the governing body how many of us ex-jw would still be trapped in the cult?.
would we have come this far?.

I exited shortly before hearing of Franz. Nice confirmation though. I did love learning his story bit by bit. No web then. This used to be a very lonely row to hoe! -

New BBC article on JW abuse
by snare&racket inis religion doing enough to root out abuse?.
he would go upstairs, on the premise that he was saying a prayer with his niece, then sexually abuse her.
mark sewell was sentenced to 14 years in prisonafterwards, the elders told her that as it was only her account against that of sewell, nothing more could be done.

From my JW mom after I posted the link on FB.:
" I wish you would not discuss religion on facebook. I don't like you putting things on facebook about the withness's true or not. This is really none of your business since you don't believe anything about my religion."
From the lady who will go out in FS tomorrow to tell people about all the religions she doesn't believe in being Babylon the great.

In my email yesterday. Later she said I should pick on Catholics(not that I believe anything there, either).
The FB article I posted discussed at least 4 religions, problem is the WT got headline status for a change.

If you suspect a vulnerable person is being used or abused, do please call the authorities.
If the sister is executor of the parents estate, a guardian ad litem (or something) could be assigned to look after her interests, both daily issues and financial. I have a friend who is marginally disabled and depends a lot on her sisters (who are good women), but if they were not so good, it would be really easy to take advantage in more than one way. She isn't a stupid person and her intelligence is not THAT low, she has minor physical limitations, but the way all things shake out with her, she is very vulnerable because of oxygen deprivation at birth.
Do be a good neighbor. And go to more than one resource if you need to. It might be that sister just needs to know shes on the radar to clean up her act. Get your neighbor on a couple of radars.

Why hasn’t someone gotten real pissed off yet?
by John Aquila ini keep reading of some guy who is so upset at someone that he goes into a theater and shoots 20 people..
or a kid that is so mad that the other kids made fun of him that he goes to school and shoots a bunch of kids..
or some guy that was fired from his job and he goes back and shoots of bunch of his workers.

Recent case of the guy who was DFd for cause and after ages of trying to be reinstated, he lost it and tried harming the elder that he thought stood between him and reinstatement by poisoning his family. He clearly lost all rational thought and the elder is fortunate that the guy didn't try to get more immediate action than slow poisoning. He said he was losing his mind with being ignored as if he were invisible ad his marriage was being affected (I understood more from the shunnning issue than from the cheating, but that could be the lawyerly attempt to color the case as a defense) -

Welcome, stick around and you will figure out what is best for you. In the meantime, take heart, once you are out of the house, you don't need to live with parents and whatever you do is not going to be on their daily radar. Just don't get involved with dating a JW. Recipe for being trapped longer. I think the fading away is a good MO for young adults.
