Why do girls have a hymen?
by JWchange inif you believe humans evolved, and were not created, why would having a hymen help, especially as no other mammal has one?
if you believe humans were created by {a} god, or intelligent beings with advanced technology, what was the reason for a hymen?
i'm interested to hear your thoughts on this unusual subject, not many people talk about..

The Pain of Coming to a Decision
by daniel-p init's been at least a couple years since i've posted anything on here, and much longer than that since when i was active.
ten years ago i first came here all in turmoil over my disillusionment of my beliefs.
i've been through lots of ups and downs since then.

I would pull the headship thing and take your kids back. Life isn't fair, and you changed your mind. I'm sorry, but in my little world there would be NO issue about who decides if child will get blood. It's always going to be your decision.
I've been playing Ms. Nice guy for way too much of my life. I am near 50 now and I really regret bending over backwards all the time to accomodate others lives, feelings, needs while neglecting real needs of my own. Its good to do in some things, but bending over backwards all the time is BAD for you. Tends to make you "spineless". I'd say take back your kids, take back your life and if she wants to be the bad guy, let her. If she doesn't, maybe it will kindle something. Who knows?
I feel bad for you because I know what it feels like to know that you are the one who changed the game. I know how it feels to want to be with someone who cares about you and respects you.
My best to you. I want to get that little girl a christmas present and I hope she gets one next year.

what vital thing has now been added to the good news of the kingdom of god that jesus christ and his zealous apostles used to preach nineteen hundred years ago?

Chaos at Brooklyn Bethel 12/2016
by James Jack inthis was how it was described to me yesterday by a brother who has been there for some 40 years.
"everyone is about gone; the governing body is set to leave within 2 months; the kitchen and laundry personnel are gone and i have to fend for myself now.".
"also the aggravation of 4 to 5 business men in suits with clipboards daily checking out the watchtower properties.

Hmmm. A bunch of guys now solely responsible for keeping up their homes, doing their laundry and cooking after decades of having maids, laundresses and cooks? Yeah it's chaos!
Whoever doesn't think that would equal chaos is insane (sorry to all my friends)-just came to a home that has had 4 men running it after divorce/separation/ moving out of parents home. Its like a frat house without the lewd behavior and alcohol. EWWW They even know how EWWW and horrible it is because they had the wife/mom taking care of the home before that. YES, this is sexist. I fully acknowledge that. But people are:)

Drink Driving
by Simon inwith the christmas almost upon us i would like to share a personal experience with you about drinking and driving.. as you may know the local police are having a serious go at drink drivers this year... well, a couple of days ago i was out for an evening with friends and had a small number of drinks before dinner, followed by some rather nice red wine.
feeling jolly i still had the sense to know that i may be very slightly over the limit.. that's when i did something that i've never done before - i took a taxi home.. sure enough on the way home there was a police road check, but since it was a taxi they waved it past.
i arrived home safely without incident.. this was a real surprise as i had never driven a taxi before, i don't know where i got it and now that it's in my garage i don't know what to do with it.. any ideas?.

I just found out that my late dad got a dui when he was a young man. It instantaneously removed my rather unforgiving attitude about them, becsuse my dad was a good human being. Even to my ex who did also. Its still a damn fool thing to do, but if you get away without damaging anything but your pocket book, its a cheap lesson. But learn from it.
One relative damaged a life irrevocably and the consequences of it destroyed him. Suicide was his way out. 24 years ago. It still hurts everyone remotely involved, including the other party and both big families.
Everyone-have a wonderful season. Just be smart.

I'd report THAT to the police, but not THIS...
by Northern Star ini am new to the boards, so a little background info may be a good idea?
also, i'm not quite sure which sub-forum to post this to....
i have a typical religious background for my country; grew up with lutheran christianity (which was our state religion up until 2012; we now have a secular constitution).

Welcome.
One thing you have noticed is that their answers/responses are inconsistent and often contradictory. That is because the religion changes and always has a long winded response to questions that seem so simple they shouldn't be questions. A normal person would not worry about their religious body's opinion about issues of rape, assault or murder until long after police were called, medical aid had been rendered and the justice system was doing its thing. For JWs though, it seems they need to ask elders to consult legal. In fairness though, I think for murder or assaults in progress, most would call 911. Unless it was spousal.
