Are JWs as eager to accept voluntary disassociation by minor JWs as they are to baptize them?
by Island Man inwe all know that the organization shamelessly pushes for youth baptism, even encouraging parents to withhold driver's licenses from driving-aged teens unless they get baptized.
i've been asking myself: since they are wiling to accept minor baptisms, are they also willing to accept letters of disassociation signed by young minors?.
i ask this because it seems to me that a signed letter of resignation has a greater "air of legality" to it than baptism, because its a signed document just as most contracts are signed documents.

Does anyone know what the alternate arrangements are for Camberwell? Just realized they had enough? Property price dictated?

A most interesting Christmas present
by JeffT inso our daughter gave my wife and i a very nice family album of photos from the course of the year.
as we opened it, she said it had a surprise hidden in it, so we're watching for something to fall out.
about 2/3 or the way through it we hit an ultrasound print of a tiny baby.

In 1966 supposedly cautionary statements were made. I was born then. They forgot the cautions by the early 70s when it was a frenzy of WT declarations that 1975 was it. Any disclaimers were delivered with a wink and a chuckle that am gone would be so stupid as to ignore their warnings about the impending calamities.
"There were other statements published that implied that such realization of hopes by that year (1975) was more of a probability than a mere possibility. It is to be regretted that these latter statements apparently overshadowed the cautionary ones and contributed to a buildup of the expectation already initiated." -Watchtower, 1980 March 15, p.17, par. 5"WT literature combined with the talks. . .don't be naive. Whether you have been studying for mere weeks or years (you've stated both) you werent their before OR soon after1975. I was and with all due respect, you need to be silent on this subject that you are truly ignorant of.

Selling Sacramento, CA Convention Deal to Skeptical Public
by dannyboy ini live near sacramento, ca and earlier this week the local convention authority held a big deal press conference announcing a "deal" with jehovah's witnesses (see clip below).
based on comments to local news media on their websites, more than a few people are not too crazy about the idea..... i heard an interview on a local station where the head guy [of the convention authority] was defending (sounded very defensive) the city's deal with the dubs, by saying "well, they'll bring hotel dollars, food dollars, and they'll be visiting all of our local museums, evening life, and entertainment attractions.....so the monetary impact will be huge for us...".
specifically discouraged from doing any of those "extra" things..... hope those attractions aren't hiring more employees to handle the witness "crowds"........ also, during the interview, he said that the convention authority would be able to select the dates for the various conventions.

Seriously? man. last night we had the oompapa/Mexican music neighbor having a very rowdy party. till 3am! Some Christmas music of various cultures and a dj who apparently was given one 5 minute bathroom break. 7pm to 3 am. who does that? They yelled and screamed all night. NOW the kids party is going on. doesn't feel Christmassy, I'm hoping they spent their yearly entertainment budget on the last 24 hours.
