Asking a Jew about the Name "Jehovah"
by David_Jay injehovah's witnesses...that's the trademark of the religion, the use of the name "jehovah.
" if there is anything jws and non-jws can agree on is that this one thing sets them apart from everybody else.. i have only had witnesses come to my door less than five times since i left in the 1990s.
i guess they don't work the territory i live in often, or perhaps after that first time (which was still after the year 2000) they have marked the words "jew who knows a lot" or something in their notes on my address.

It was good of you you to share your exit story. Thank you and welcome. As Louis Armstrong said, it's a wonderful world!

Be careful about which card you try and remove!
by stuckinarut2 inthe belief system of witness has often been well described as a "house of cards"....seemingly stable, yet fragile at the same time.. as we try to awaken our loved ones, we may share certain topics and issues...trying to remove a card or two from the tower of cards.. sometimes in our eagerness, we try and remove some key hot topic...or a card or two at the base of the tower.. that can be very destructive and cause loved ones to act defensive or protective of their beliefs (the society).
they may dig in their heels.. rather, success comes from carefully and casually removing smaller cards from the top of the tower....then allowing them to even remove them for themselves!.
as keen as we are to just bulldoze them down, take it slowly and carefully.. show dignity, poise and grace....and patience....

I think people going into it with a attitude that there is no God or that Jesus is this or that or that Christianity is this or that are going to get the same kind of walls as if they were trying to break down the Watchtower organization itself because faith and Christianity is still their Foundation so I think that someone coming up there with "all believers are idiots" attitude is not going to get very far with a Jehovah's Witness and any kind of conversation I think somebody questioning things, even things about faith or things about Jesus respectfully, even if you don't feel respect for them is important because otherwise they they will at least mentally plug their ears up and start saying blah blah blah blah blah blah blah because they can't hear you so I agree with the original poster here. That's not even a Cult response that is a human response because nobody can have a rational conversation when they are under attack like that even in the movies. They might be able to come back with a different attack but there's no communication going on.
So I would hope that if you want to have a conversation that you keep it in a tone that can remain conversational, rather than confrontational.

What's worse, 2 week old getting nearly 100 rat bites and living, or Jesus' torture and death?
by FatFreek 2005 insome 35 miles from here, in the small town of magnolia, ar, a teen couple is in trouble -- as they should be -- for allowing their 2 week old girl, a 5 pound baby, to suffer nearly 100 bites from rats.
one of the bites was so large and deep it required plastic surgery.
i don't want to even think about the horror this teeny creature felt during those instances -- and the horrible nightmares she may suffer in years to come.. i wonder if this is one of those human experiences that may be worse than what christ suffered on that stake.

While I believe that Jesus probably existed, that he had followers and that he did eventually die, I don't think that he ever thought he was a ransom sacrifice I don't believe he ever claimed it and I don't believe that even if he had gone through everything that is said he did that it would begin to touch for any humans have gone through whether in this time or in historic past.
Had he gone through what is claimed or 30 times more I don't think that that would do the trick that everybody is trying to say it does. I would not think that an Almighty God would need such a sacrifice nor would I think that any human being could provide it. I think the premise of a ransom sacrifice is particularly insane

Im "Going To Die In Armageddon"
by pale.emperor in3 missed calls from my jw brother last night.
i didnt answer because he's actively shunning me and when he does ring it always to preach to me about how we're so close to the end and how i should "humble myself before the mighty hand of god" .
he then texts me saying "we need to talk".

I had a convo with my aunt, a pioneer, yesterday. She is dying from cancer, stage 4 and was telling me her Armageddon hope. Maybe Trump/n. Korea is giving them hope for a swift end to this system of things. She is rather in denial that we will all die from something. Anyway, I'm not doing a lot of bubble popping with her. She is the one person I know who really needs her cult to function in the world-but she was conditioned and trained from birth to go off the rails when out of it. Those are her options. Good jw with marginal but respectable employment/govt dependentcy or addicted promiscuous loser slob. Nothing in between.

I left young, but never had confidence to write what I wanted to. Rejection is a big theme in my life. I could still do what I want, but that demon hasn't been exorcized. Every time one of you make rude or even challenging comments to or about me, my thin skin hemmorhages.

Memo shows Trump tried to end investigation in Feb.
by Coded Logic inwashington — president trump asked the f.b.i.
director, james b. comey, to shut down the federal investigation into mr. trump’s former national security adviser, michael t. flynn, in an oval office meeting in february, according to a memo mr. comey wrote shortly after the meeting.. “i hope you can let this go,” the president told mr. comey, according to the memo.. the existence of mr. trump’s request is the clearest evidence that the president has tried to directly influence the justice department and f.b.i.
investigation into links between mr. trump’s associates and russia.. mr. comey wrote the memo detailing his conversation with the president immediately after the meeting, which took place the day after mr. flynn resigned, according to two people who read the memo.

I don't think that Trump is guilty based on evidence. I think that Trump is very suspicious based on what he does, what he says, how he acts, and how his surrogates respond for him or try to. We don't have evidence yet although I haven't looked at the news in the last 20 minutes or so but if it looks like a duck and Walks Like A Duck and quacks like a duck it might be a duck. Not to mention there's a whole lot of duck crap going on- that's all I'm saying.Donald's a Duck.

2017 Convention Video To Be Shown Regarding The 1975 Failure
by pale.emperor inhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=go3arnnsfkk&feature=youtu.be.
no mention whatsoever that it was watchtower themselves that strongly hinted towards this date.
instead they blame those who "put their trust in a date, not jehovah".. let's recap... .

If Jesus had to choose his earthly organisation NOW, who would win?
by stuckinarut2 inwe all know that the society claims that jesus invisibly chose the bible students (forerunners of jw) in 1919 to be his organization here on earth.. yet, as we know, so much of what they then taught and did was wrong according to current teaching and practice.. the reply witnesses will give is something like "they were the most sincere seekers of truth blah blah...and jesus could see their potential".
so, pretend for a moment that the current organization and the 1919 organization were both in concurrent existence at the time he invisibly came to choose.... which would he choose?
the current or former?.

You didnt give him very many options! Both were or are self-serving in self-aggrandizing not much like Jesus

OH HELL NO! I just watched the bit with " Gloria" imagining herself turning into Lot's wife simply for missing a memorial that I am pretty sure she has no intention in partaking of.
That is SERIOUSLY the kind of fear mongering they are doing these days? Unconscionable! The entire thing shows these people who keep affirming that going out in pioneer service-STANDING BY A CART!-is so valuable that it is worth giving up a good job for. "I don't like the person I've become" The girl colored her HAIR! She didn't pioneer. She was so on track to become a wicked evildoer!!!
I would write a letter to the borg except that its a waste of my time. I'm pissed watching their propaganda. All of it, but that in particular gets to me-because isn't that the ultimate in guilt tripping? All over missing a stupid memorial? When they aren't even allowed to partake????
I say hell no. I want to call out that stupid organization so much is isn't even funny. I also know it isn't even rational and it wouldn't matter.
