As an Ex JW now, how would you react if you met your Bible study conductor?
by EverApostate ini was a jw for 11 years , came to know ttatt and wrote my disassociation letter 5 years ago.
since then i had been an atheist and trying all i can to spread awareness for “still in” members.
my wife and mom are still jws and i do get along with them perfectly.

my last study conductor turned me into elders because my questions challenged her too much. I was 15. I'm not sure if she's still in or not. If a 15 year old with no internet scared her, she must be taking Zanex by now.
I'm metciful. I'd just say hell, how you figured out the truth about "the truth"

Why does this forum tolerate Cold steele and his mormonism beliefs ? Who`s next ?
by smiddy ini thought this forum was for people who were ex jw`s and pro jw`s and the like to debate ,discuss and reasonably talk about our differences ,and sometimes drift off into politics world events and whatever.. however over a period of time i have come across cold steel `s many posts which are nothing more than promoting his mormon religions point of view./beliefs what has that got to do with jehovahs witnesses and the concerns many have with the jw religion.?.
it seems to me he is using this forum to promote his religion and is getting away with it over a long period of time.. how long before other cult religions see this as a springboard for promoting their own religion such as .
sda`s ,christian scientists , christadelphians ,beroean bible students ,etc.etc.. where will it end if he is able to keep doing this ?.

Tolerate a Mormon? You mean a believer in something you don't believe in? This board is ostensibly open to all. It ostensibly allows for freedom of speech. Simon allows JWs, LDS, CAtholics and Baptists here. You can god bless or damn whatever you please and ignore whomever you choose. Happy birthday, merry christmas, happy Hanukkah. We have at least one resident Jew, too.
If you want to challenge ideas or beliefs go for it. If you wish to shut it down, you might as well go back to the Kingdom hall where character and intellect attacks on all "others " is allowed and in fact, encouraged and given regular training.

Wanting Less Involvement (long newbie story)
by DepthsResounding ini was raised a jw and am currently pioneer in a foreign language congregation.
i have been unhappy on and off with my involvement in this religion and am ready to step back again.
growing up i was always active but extremely reserved and a low hour publisher.

I think that whether you marry or not, getting out of FT service will free
you. You don't need an excuse.

Gas or Electric Stove
by just fine ini am getting new appliances.
i have decided on black stainless for the finish.
the house is stubbed for gas and electric for the range.

I like dual fuel. The gas range and the electric oven is the perfect combination. Temperatures on the surface are easier to control with gas and in the oven, for baking, the electric is more even IMO and less likely to go rogue on you.
I used to work at an appliance store and that was preferred by most who had a choice. Often they would get the dual fuel range with oven or the range with separate double ovens. This is kind of about budget, but Wolf is the best, though at the beginning it might be a bit persnickety.
I love certain things about the smooth surface ranges, but they are not ideal for a person who is REALLY into cooking at a high level. I could never afford that dual setup and only had electric available, and for everyday cooking, the smooth surface was great(easy clean!) until an impatient young man smacked a pan on it too hard and broke it. Too $$ to fix. I loved it with the two ovens below, the small one on top and bigger one on the bottom (GE? Gemini?) Great to only heat up a small oven for many meals and have two for elaborate or holiday meals.

Can You Trust the News Media? - Awake! 2013
by Funchback ini have stripped it down to this:.
many journalists and the organizations they work for have expressed a commitment to producing accurate and informative reports.
yet, there is reason for concern.

Asking a Jew about the Name "Jehovah"
by David_Jay injehovah's witnesses...that's the trademark of the religion, the use of the name "jehovah.
" if there is anything jws and non-jws can agree on is that this one thing sets them apart from everybody else.. i have only had witnesses come to my door less than five times since i left in the 1990s.
i guess they don't work the territory i live in often, or perhaps after that first time (which was still after the year 2000) they have marked the words "jew who knows a lot" or something in their notes on my address.

Be careful about which card you try and remove!
by stuckinarut2 inthe belief system of witness has often been well described as a "house of cards"....seemingly stable, yet fragile at the same time.. as we try to awaken our loved ones, we may share certain topics and issues...trying to remove a card or two from the tower of cards.. sometimes in our eagerness, we try and remove some key hot topic...or a card or two at the base of the tower.. that can be very destructive and cause loved ones to act defensive or protective of their beliefs (the society).
they may dig in their heels.. rather, success comes from carefully and casually removing smaller cards from the top of the tower....then allowing them to even remove them for themselves!.
as keen as we are to just bulldoze them down, take it slowly and carefully.. show dignity, poise and grace....and patience....

I think people going into it with a attitude that there is no God or that Jesus is this or that or that Christianity is this or that are going to get the same kind of walls as if they were trying to break down the Watchtower organization itself because faith and Christianity is still their Foundation so I think that someone coming up there with "all believers are idiots" attitude is not going to get very far with a Jehovah's Witness and any kind of conversation I think somebody questioning things, even things about faith or things about Jesus respectfully, even if you don't feel respect for them is important because otherwise they they will at least mentally plug their ears up and start saying blah blah blah blah blah blah blah because they can't hear you so I agree with the original poster here. That's not even a Cult response that is a human response because nobody can have a rational conversation when they are under attack like that even in the movies. They might be able to come back with a different attack but there's no communication going on.
So I would hope that if you want to have a conversation that you keep it in a tone that can remain conversational, rather than confrontational.
