Way to plagarize Bill Hicks, Butters.
It's Just a Ride - Bill Hicks
http://www.tehomet.net/bill.html
The world is like a ride at an amusement park, and when you choose to go on it, you think it's real, because that's how powerful our minds are. And the ride goes up and down and round and round and it has thrills and chills and it's very brightly colored and it's very loud. And it's fun, for a while.
Some people have been on the ride for a long time, and they begin to question: 'Is this real? Or is this just a ride?' And other people have remembered, and they come back to us and they say 'Hey! Don't worry, don't be afraid -- ever -- because... this is just a ride.' And we kill those people.
'Shut him up! We have a lot invested in this ride! Shut him up! Look at my furrows of worry; look at my big bank account, and my family. This has to be real.' It's just a ride. But we always kill those good guys who try and tell us that -- ever notice that? -- and we let the demons run amok. But it doesn't matter, because... it's just a ride, and we can change it any time we want. It's only a choice. No effort. No worry. No job. No savings and money. Just a choice, right now, between fear and love. The eyes of fear want you to put bigger locks on your door, buy bigger guns, close yourself off. The eyes of love, instead, see all of us as one.
Here's what we can do to change the world, right now, into a better ride. Take all that money we spend on weapons and defense each year and, instead, spend it feeding, clothing and educating the poor of the world, which it would do many times over -- not one human being excluded -- and we can explore space together, both inner and outer, forever. In peace.
You also refer to that old Chaos axiom, attributed to Hasan i Sabah, "Nothing is True, Everything is Permissible".

Precisely, though not very practical. Hmm... I wonder why AC titled that one book "The Book of Lies"...

Angry Witnesses
by Moomin ineverytime i look at videos talking/warning about jehovah's witness on youtube, i am always so shocked at the venemous replies from the dubs.
they say things like "i can't wait to see your face when you realise we're right when armageddon comes" and "i can't wait for the day of jehovah when you apostate scumbags get obliterated".
it's shocking.

Who is to say those individuals are genuine baptized JWs? Would it be possible for an apostate to pose as a witness and post a vicious hatefule reply only to make the JWs appear that way?
Anything is possible. But one can't assume it. I've experienced this vicious behavior first-hand from more than one Witness.
It would be a mistake for you to assume that "apostates" are out to ruin the JW "good name". Most are only out to shed light on the destructive lies of a man-made high-control religious sect whose claim to be guided by holy spirit to be very... misguided.

So, 75% of the world's population is religious, believes in a higher power. How can they all be wrong?
In the early 1600s, a great deal of controversy surrounded one particular astronomer. For thousands of years, it was believed that the earth was the center of the universe, that the earth did not move, based, relatively recently, upon certain bible verses such as Psalms 93:1, Psalms 104:5, and Ecclesiastes 1:5.
This was the official position of the Church. Much scientific evidence of the time also seemed to support the geocentric view. However, we know very well now, the geocentric view of our universe was incorrect. Copernicus published a book suggesting the quite heretical idea that the earth revolved around the sun. He was so fearful of being charged with heresy, by the Church, that he waited until he was on his death bed before publishing the book. Galileo took up this torch and was very nearly charged with heresy until he recanted.
Was the majority of the world wrong? This would seem to be the case.
It has been postulated (and I apologize for not being able to source this at the moment) that at any point in time, 90% of what our species believes to be true about our universe is incorrect.
Now, does that mean I personally believe that people who believe in a higher power(s) are patently wrong about everything? Well, certainly not. What I'm suggesting is that we are all living our lives based upon our best guesses; that Truth is an illusion; that very little, if anything is a certainty, no matter what side of any argument you stand upon.
Just because a majority of people believe something to be true does not necessarily make it so.
(In philosophy, this is a logical fallacy, argumentum ad populum, "appeal to the people". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argumentum_ad_populum. We should all take classes on logic and philosophy, critical thinking, myself included.)

LAME (or funny) JW "Get together" stories, please...
by exwitless inok,i've been sick for 2 days (sore throat, feeling run-down) so i could use some good laughs.
something just made me think of how absurdly lame jw "get-togethers" always were.
there were several that we went to (when we were still being love-bombed as newbies) where we ate dinner, then played bible pictionary.

I'm sorry, but I can't really remember any lame ones. We didn't play lame bible games. I can remember going out to a park with everyone. We'd say the prayer, eat fried chiken and potato salad and then we'd all play.
Get togethers at peoples' houses were pretty cool too. We'd play football or other games. It was never all religion all the time.
Once we had one for the kids where we played more standard games like potato sack races, three-legged races, etc. but that's about as lame as it got.

"Absolute truth does not exist" I answer that and I'm trapped by the next question either being answered "Absolutely true" or false. So I'm not provided with an answer I can choose, since absolute truth does not exist, even that is not absolutely true, hence even something one believes to be true can only be relatively true and ultimately an untruth.
Fortunately the world is not actually binary.
Rather banal mouthy. Sorry. Cute try though.

- Were you an active "apostate" at assemblies? - No
What were your prior views concerning "apostates"? - Apostates were all evil Satan worshippers. They were liars and only wanted to corrupt me and pull me away from Jehovah.
What are your views now? - Evil is obviously relative.
