This is really tough, but I'll give it a shot.

mmm... hmmm... ahhh... nope, can't do it. What I do is subtly place specially loaded bits of information into their minds in order to seed questions. Over time, this is the most effective way to urge their mind to doubt. This is the beginning. The doubt will grow in secret. They will begin to see more and more of the unTruth that the WTS preaches. Perhaps they begin to research on their own. Eventually, if they have a heart that truly seeks Truth, their eyes will be opened.

70 words or less, for me, would be too blunt since I could sum up the JW "Truth" in one word: Lie.

Then how would you explain it rockguy? There is always a story behind it.....and it could be very very painful to talk about. How would you know? Do you feel compassion?

Part of the problem is that you are speaking from the influence of a different premise than many other people. Because of your... instruction, you believe it to be abnormal to live an alternative lifestyle, when in fact, it is abnormal for at least part of many, many species of creature to not behave differently from the majority in this fashion.

In any case, I believe that the biblical directive against homosexuality is man-made and certainly not God-made. Since only man speaks out of ignorance, an omniscient and omnipotent God could not.

There is always a story behind it

You have to believe this in order for your belief to be true. However, it is not. I have known many homosexual men and women who were not traumatized into being gay. In fact, I find no correlation at all. I could say that in order to be heterosexual, one must have survived some sort of trauma and it would be just as ridiculous.

Why don't you research the subject and try to prove that homosexuality is always caused by some trauma, some story.

Death In the Family, How do I handle this ??? HELP !!!

my mom (die hard witness), is not doing well, she called me for the first time in over 3 years on sunday, she probaly has a year or less left in her, we had a good chat, she cried alot and said how sorry she was, and that there might be something to the things i have said.

(wow i almost fell over).

and then today my grandma died at age 100 (witness for 75 years +).

My mother has cancer and has been hanging on for a while. But she could pass at any time. She will most likely have a Witness funeral. As much as the religion makes me ill, I will not allow them to influence how I live my life, where I go or don't go, what I do or do not. My spirit is much, much stronger than anything in a KH that might try to influence me, unless it be to defiance.

Bottom line is, this is family. You should go, in strength, to lend support to your family. A side benefit may be that you come to terms with things and realize that the power of Satan and His organization (WTS) have no power over you any longer.

Relationship Question

for those of you who have experience with this or may have solid imput;.

in meeting new people for a possible meaningful relationship, how much is wise to reveal about our past experience with the borg?.

when i came out of the borg, i was in a relationship with an ex-witness, and felt understood.

I think you should warmly embrace the chaos you find yourself in and see where it leads you.

I find that it is really the ones who believe the dogma, any dogma, who are the nutcases. You will not sound like a nutcase as long as you maintain an open, but skeptical, mind.

i would love it if someone out there could clarify for my stubborn brain just why birthdays are forbidden??

for the life of me, and i was a witness for over 30 years, i still can't wrap my brain around that issue.

i need something more than the two accounts 'gone wrong' and pagen, in the bible.

Those are the core reasons I was ever given. The hypocrisy comes to play when they will allow some things with pagan origins or influence and not others.

For example, did you know that a standard deck of playing can may be used in divination? In fact there is some evidence that the tarot deck and standard playing cards have a lot in common, perhaps a common origin(??). Four suits, ten cards in each suit, four face cards for each suit. The only main difference is in the tarot's Major Arcana. Based upon how little evidence the WTS needs for pagan influence in order to forbid other things, one would think they would consider banning playing any form of card games that use the standard deck.

Dungeons and Dragons game & JW urban legends

does anyone remember this game from (i think) the early '80s?

it's a role playing game of some sort that included some violent imagery or something.. i remember jws (and the media, come to think of it) making a big, big deal of it.

something like it was demonized or made kids murder people.

last week was the 13th anniversary of my baptism into the borg, and i celebrated it by writing a letter of disassociation to the uk hq.

this has been acknowledged, and i am out of the wt!

the dubs who came round to confirm it commented on the date, so i told them it was quite deliberate, kind of rounds things off nicely, don't you think?

New Light?

i have looked up the scripture (in its proper context).

firstly, it does not even mention "new light" at all!

secondly, who can read the whole chapter and honestly say this is about god's progressive revelation of informaton to an organisation appointed by jesus to teach people truth in the last days?.

The WTS's, like many religions', logic tends to work backwords. They very often hold a belief first, and then look for supporting evidence, effectively making it up or twisting a scripture to make it fit what they already believe, and ignoring any evidence that does not.

For example, I was raised, by the WTS, to believe that mankind has only been on earth for 7000 years. Scientific evidence to the contrary was touted as being incorrect, with absolutely no qualification. They couldn't say why carbon dating was wrong, but just that it was, because they already believed something contrary. This blew my mind and was part of my falling away.
