Ask what he things he has been achieving over the years going door to door. How many people has he converted, how many people he has spoken to that now have a clear understanding of what JWs teach the Good news of the kingdom is. If his answer it no one, maybe he would realise his time could be better spent doing other things.

I remember chasing people down the street when street witnessing.
Them: I'm in a rush
me: that's fine, Ill walk with you
I now know how annoying it is when people do it soliciting for charities.

New Article on BEARDS and Attire of Jehovah's Witnesses
by jwfacts ini have had requests to add an article about beards and jehovah's witnesses.
it is interesting that there is virtually no statement that says a witness cannot have a beard, yet universally they do not have beards.
i have scoured quotes from all the threads on jwn, all references to beard on the cd watchtower library, and copies of elders letters that i have.

The neckbeard - not a good look.
I have added this next paragraph, as it is intriguing how Watchtower picks and chooses when to invoke certain principles. They very much employ and Eisegesis method of deciding what they want to promote, and then randomly select Scriptural principles to support their pre-decided stance.
Watchtower's requirement to shave goes against their usual method of forming doctrine. In line with the reasoning for why Jehovah's Witnesses are not allowed to celebrate birthdays, shaving should be forbidden on the following basis:
- Men naturally grow beards, being the design of God.
- The Bible provides the example of Israelite and Christian men with beards, as a guide for us to follow today.
- The Mosaic Law forbade people from shaving, highlighting God’s feelings against men being clean-shaven - see Leviticus 19:27.
- Shaving is effeminate and a homosexually inspired, androgynous fashion.
- Shaving has pagan roots. It was likely first practiced by Egyptian priests, and later promoted by Alexander the Great. (See wikipedia.org/wiki/Shaving) During Christian times, Christians wore beards whilst the pagan Romans, such as Pontius Pilate who authorized the impalement of Jesus, were clean-shaven.

PIZTJW Years ago a serious injury required surgery. As a result I was in a neck brace/collar for nearly three months. As such I could not move my head or neck, could not shave...even if I had wanted to. Guess what? Two weeks after my surgery one of the eldurrs made a point to "lovingly" chastise me for having facial hair and showing disrespect for Jehovah's house by attending a meeting with...a...GASP!...BEARD!
That is terrible. JWs are as bad as the Pharisees.

Excellent points. I love that picture of the pirate. It is a crazy concept that shaving will be required in the New System, and shows the subliminal manner the Watchtower uses to control its followers.
Two good points I've gleaned from your comments that I will add are:
- A beard is natural for men, and to insist on shaving is going against nature
- The origins of shaving are pagan. In the first century, Romans were shaving whilst Christians were not.
For most other subjects, the Watchtower would use the above two points to prevent a man from shaving.

"There is also the pirate beard where the pirate gets resurrected. He gets to wear his old clothes but his beard is trimmed to a moustache."
I'd love to see that, if you remember the issue. There should be no reason that in the New System beards are not allowed. Imagine telling Moses he cannot have a beard, because some pompous 21st century American leaders felt their era of fashion was more acceptable than that of the early Jews.

I will make a change to say this applies to Englsh speaking countries, and that in some cultures some Jehovah's Witnesses are known to have beards.

I have had requests to add an article about Beards and Jehovah's Witnesses. It is interesting that there is virtually no statement that says a Witness cannot have a beard, yet universally they do not have beards. I have scoured quotes from all the threads on JWN, all references to beard on the CD Watchtower library, and copies of elders letters that I have. If anyone here has any quotes that I may have missed please feel free to suggest them. I would be particularly interested to know if there is some old elders letter that directly speaks against beards.
The article is long and full of pictures, so rather than copy it here, please go to Beards and Attire of Jehovah's Witnesses.
The information in the article is from my experience, and the English Watchtower, which is very Western focused. I would love to hear from any foreign speaking people regarding whether beards are acceptable in their culture for publishers and for elders.
