I would like to do an article on Jackson's comments about the GB. Alternatively, it may be about the misinformation spread throughout the JC. I am looking forward to the recommendations that the RC provide. They felt that of the groups involved in the hearing, Watchtower was the organization with the most flawed child abuse policies, and their recommendations should contain so excellent information to publish.

LevelThePlayingField, thanks, I look forward to getting it.
This is priceless. Their own website http://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/202011167#h=1:0-4:278 states that a form should be filled out, "regardless of whether he demonstrates interest," after which it is held by the congregation or sent to Bethel to forward to the appropriate congregation.

Brokeback Watchtoweran hour ago
When older it takes some type of upheaval in order for neural plasticity to take place and one change one's whole mode of thinking. Lets hope people that this man will change for the destruction of the Watchtower Organization!!
I doubt it. He strategically became anointed whilst married to one of the sweetest women I have had the pleasure to know. When she died a few years ago, I had hoped it may trigger some emotion in him. Yet since then he has still shown himself to be fully supportive of the new direction the Governing Body is taking. Maybe he has suffered internal turmoil since his wife, and now father have died, but there has been nothing to indicate this is the case. In the RC, he came across conceited and dismissive.

Cult or Religion
by Richard C B inwhat is a cult and what is a religion?
its open to debate.
who has the authority to say for certain what is a cult and what is a religion?
-
jwfacts
The basic definition of cult is simply a religion with its rites.
"a particular system of religious worship, especially with reference to its rites and ceremonies." http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/cult
However, people tend to think of a small crazy group in a commune. Due to this range of perceived definitions, the word cult has lost its usefulness. For that reason, the term used now in such discussions is whether a group uses "undue influence." That way the discussion can focus on the way the group operates, and the affect on the followers, rather than the collapse into a debate on doctrine.
Watchtower complies with a lot of the practices that are considered undue influence, in particular not being able to question the leaders, and shunning.Jehovah's Witnesses vary greatly in how strictly they follow the rules and internalize the doctrine. For many that just hang in there for social reasons, it does not hold much influence in their life. For those in Bethel, it is very much like being in a small cult commune. Once they move to Warwick, that will become even more evident. When I was in Sydney Bethel, which is in a country setting an hour from the CBD I felt like I was trapped in a cult commune, and found it oppressive and depressing.

We need to help out here. I'm prepared to contact Deaf Aotearoa and the newspaper and explain what the official process is. Do they still use the Foreign Language forms and do these get sent to Bethel or are they just held locally at the Kingdom Halls? If anyone has a copy I could forward that would be great. -

Cognac - Hi Paul, Are you sending the RC this article?
Angus has read it. I am not sure that the RC is looking to legally pursue individuals, but I thought the information may help them identify that Watchtower does change its doctrine to be more secular under legal pressure.
Also having evidence of the GB dishonesty and contempt shown to the system should make sure the RC does not go soft on its condemnation of their practices and its recommendations for change.

"New Light never contradicts Old Light, but simply adds to it"
by stuckinarut2 indoes anyone remember this classic quote from a society publication??.
i remember it has been quoted many times, but i cant find the reference.. if this comment is to be taken literally, it condemns the organization anytime there has been a complete changes in teachings and doctrine!

"If we were following a man undoubtedly it would be different with us; undoubtedly one human idea would contradict another and that which was light one or two or six years ago would be regarded as darkness now;… But with God there is no variableness, neither shadow of turning, and so it is with truth; any knowledge or light coming from God must be like its author. A new view of truth never can contradict a former truth. "New Light" never extinguishes older "light" but adds to it…" Zion's Watch Tower 1881 Feb pp.3,188 -

Tornintwo - thank you for the kind comments. I would like to write more about the Royal Commission, but rarely get time were I can sit down, and get in the zone I need to be in to write. It takes me ages by the time I find all the quotes and cross check everything.
Sabin there are a number of Watchtower quotes presented in the article where it says "spanking" is ok, or to use a "rod". These are prior to the year 2000 though. That is the point of the article. Watchtower showed that they are willing to gradually amend their teachings despite what the Bible says, yet contradicted this to the RC when saying they cannot change their teaching on the Two Witness rule.
username The term the watchtower uses is 'theocratic warfare'.
It was interesting that Toole said he had not heard of the term theocratic warfare, which is a form of the liar paradox.

Thank you for the update. I have benefited greatly from Atlantis' work for over a decade, and more recently from files you have sent. It makes it so much more appreciated now I know some of the story behind the name. It is beautiful to know your hair is in memory of your mother.
I am so glad that you could carry on the work for your family. My son is 7 and intrigued by what I do on my site and is constantly asking questions about Jehovah's Witnesses. At this stage he wants to carry on my site when I no longer am able to.
