she holds it up and says, "should i buy this as a workout shirt?".

No Sports Cars Please!
by snugglebunny ini read on a jw forum that jw's came in for disapproval if they drove either sports cars or 2-door cars.
the reasoning was that a driver couldn't easily take fellow dubbies out preaching in such a vehicle.
was that ever official policy or just local nonsense from a grumpy po?.

When I bought a 300zx similar to this one, there were a lot of negative comments from the serious minded ones, and it seemed to convince them there was no hope left for me. The young guys loved it though, and two different couples used it as a wedding car.

If JWs were to change their name what would they change it to?
by slimboyfat inwas it 1931 when they adopted jehovah's witnesses?
(at the time with lower case w) isn't it about time now they changed name again?
i mean everything else is changing why not the name!

I don't know Paul, I get your point about it's value as a USP but the name 'Jehovah's Witnesses' is a tainted brand
Maybe. They could change their name to "Christian Witnesses of Truth," for marketing purposes. I do think though they should retain Jehovah as their God, and stick to their version of Arianism. The Trinity is a complex concept, and with the dumbed-down magazines, their target audience like the simplicity of Jehovah as God and Jesus as the son.

Is the Watchtower organisation facing the biggest crisis of its history?
by slimboyfat inrecent developments make me think they might be.
the problems they are facing are not just lack of funds but also draining authority, and the two could be a heady and explosive mix.
one of the best analyses ever written of the watchtower was a book called "trumpet of prophecy" by sociologist james beckford in the 1970s.

No.
The biggest crisis was the 1914 fail, followed by Russell's death. 75% left. Rutherford resurrected from the ashes the religion branded with his own unique style.
If 75% left now, they would still have 2 million followers with billions of dollars in equity. The next charismatic figurehead would have the perfect springboard to launch the religion from, put his own stamp upon, and if he desired a huge cash resource to live off.
in 2015 Watchtower spent 1/4 billion looking after missionaries and special pioneers. The current Governing Body are winding back this unnecessary waste of money, unnecessary branches and printing expenses, so that the religion can operate within its means. After shedding all that dead weight, anyone with decent leadership skills could take over and set up for great luxury for decades to come.

I don't want to spoil the party, but I don't think a name change is required. That is the only thing they have going for them. If I took over, 1914 would be dropped, Armageddon would go, everyone has the chance of heaven, but the marketing differentiation would be "we are the only true (monotheistic) religion that worships the true God, Jehovah." -

My First post
by Simple Minds ini have been lurking on this site for 3 years and this is my fist post.
i would like to thank everyone for helping me wake up.
i was baptized at 24, married at 25, ms for 18 years mentally in for 24 years but started to wake up 3 years ago doing research to give public talks, and the actions of arrogant and narcissistic brothers and sisters did not help.

That is a good letter, and interesting approach that should not cause any trouble.

Does anyone have the original copy of the Awake 2015 Jan before it was changed?
by jwfacts injan used a famous scientist to garner misleading support for creation, quoting rama singh as saying "the opposition to evolution goes beyond religious fundamentalism and includes a great many people from educated sections of the population.
2015 jan p.3) whilst the quote is accurate, it misrepresents singh's intention.
singh continues in the same paragraph, "there are several reasons why facts of evolution are not easily comprehensible by the general masses.

The 2015 Awake! Jan used a famous scientist to garner misleading support for creation, quoting Rama Singh as saying "The opposition to evolution goes beyond religious fundamentalism and includes a great many people from educated sections of the population." (Awake! 2015 Jan p.3) Whilst the quote is accurate, it misrepresents Singh's intention. Singh continues in the same paragraph, "There are several reasons why facts of evolution are not easily comprehensible by the general masses." He continues by explaining why educated people lack comprehension of evolution.
Prompted by Singh officially complaining about Awake! using “intellectual dishonesty” when taking him out of context, Watchtower retracted the statement, reloading an edited version of the Awake! issue to their site without the reference to Singh.
Does anyone have a copy of the original pdf they can send to me?
