The Motive of the Governing Body
by jwfacts ini have been quiet of late, developing other interests, happy that there are a whole group of people producing great resources.
however, i found some old emails from ray franz that promoted me to write an article that answers a question i regularly receive.

Who make up the new memorial partakers?
by jwfacts inwhen the doctrine regarding 1935 being the close of the calling was done away with in 2007, it was not unexpected to see the number rise.
over the next few years it went from around 8,500 to 10,500. this seemed to indicate that there were a couple of thousand people that may have felt they had the calling all along, but too shy to profess it.
for the 30 year period between the mid 1978 and 2007, parktakers had barely dropped.

Continuing to report a rising number makes it seem Watchtower is being somewhat honest about the number partaking. However, they don’t count all partakers. An apostate took the emblems when i was in Parramatta congregation and the elders advised not to count him as a partaker, so it seems the number is filtered down to only include Jehovah’s Witnesses in good standing. No doubt many of those that are counted are viewed with suspicion as well. -

That makes it all the more intriguing. Knowing how the GB and probably congregation judges new partakers, why are the numbers still going up? Also, I thought the long term members with such a desire would have jumped on board a decade ago, so what demographic make up the latest ones?

For the 30 year period between the mid 1978 and 2007, parktakers had barely dropped. There were always a few people that would start taking and then stop going to meetings, and so the flatlining seemed mostly due to "unworthy" ones claiming to be anointed.
However, the number continues to rise, and now is over 20,000, which is not something I expected. Who are these new partakers? Is it mostly new converts, or older ones that are starting to change their belief? Does anyone have experiences of who are now beginning to claim to be anointed?
I have just updated https://www.jwfacts.com/watchtower/memorial-partakers.php with the latest numbers.

No Need To Preach In Every Country Anymore
by pale.emperor inspeaking to a pimo from my hometown yesterday.
he told me that in the watchtower study (10 nov 2019) regarding “the great tribulation” the elder on the platform said that there’s no need for jws to preach in every country in order to fulfil the prophecy, and therefore the org has already fulfilled that prophecy.
and that there’s nothing else left to wait for now but for “the great tribulation” to come.. gasps of delight came from the audience.. has anyone else heard this?

Watchtower has made this claim a number of times over the years. Since population growth makes it impossible for them to ever literally meet every person on earth, they have to come up with such excuses, otherwise the end would never come. -

Memorial date
by DomineIvimus-DI incan someone please help me with this, if you’ve looked into it before?.
i read somewhere that the witnesses didn’t celebrate the memorial on nisan 14 according to the jewish calendar.
i did a quick google check - seems next years memorial is on tuesday (nisan 13) rather than the wednesday, nisan 14 according to the jewish calendar.

Check out https://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/209120/why-memorial-held-on-wrong-day
Watchtower loosely bases it calculations on the Jewish Karaite sects determination for Nissan 14.

Why do CO's refuse to strip Elders of their position?
by Tenacious inin several congregations i attended many elders were downright evil and flat out drunk with power.. many times i personally knew of things done by them that would have been a disfellowshipping offense had they not been elders.
and even though many times these issues and spiritual atrocities were reported to the co's and hq they would many times (if not all the time), get off with a mere slap on the wrist or a forced apology.. why do you believe elders are so protected?.
my theory is the authority integrity within the congregation.

Because most CO's don't have the balls to do anything.
This has a lot to do with it. When my father was a quite new as a CO he removed a number of Elder’s, a lot to do with domestic violence. The previous CO knew of the accusations but was afraid to do anything, particularly since in many of the congregations the elders were related and would back each other up.

Excellent point that I haven’t properly thought about before. A celebration of life, not of death as Watchtower wants to make followers believe.
