Is it all downhill after leaving JW's?

i know many people will get angry at this, but i had to share some observations i've had since i discovered this board a couple of days ago (see my original post under "why all the venom?").

i'll be very honest and say that i was hoping that i would discover that the jw's were wrong about some things, including the so-called "apostate" sites (i have been recommended to some internet sites and some books that i plan to investigate further).

i was hoping to find that people really didn't need the jw's "spiritual food" to remain true to god.

This forum has a lot of athiests, but many JWs become Christians and there are exJW Christian forums.

Many exJW's do self destruct. Two friends I grew up with suicided after being d/f and a third tried several times. That being said, I am in touch with many x'jws, and after 5 years or so most seem to be very successfully on with there new lives, generally far more happy and successful that whilst JW's.

I personally feel so relieved . Jesus said take his yoke because it is kindly and light. Leaving the WTS certainly was huge weight off my shoulders. Despite all the problems that it causes and the future uncertainty I wake up every morning thankful for life and the strength I finally had to move on.

How do you give a cat a pill?

my cat is a little sick (all sorts of nasty things coming out the business end .

i was also given some pills that need to be administered once a day... but she will pitch an absolute fit when i try to stick it down her mouth.

she always manages to bring it back up and slobber it onto the floor.

I always crush in to a powder. Get a firm piece of meat of better still liver. Make a deep insertion into the meat and push the powder into the middle of the piece. They never even notice it was there.

Do YOU Consider Yourself An Apostate?

i find this labeling insulting and misdirected.

i have been lied, deceived/tricked by a group of men posing as god's direct channel of communication.

when a group of men heightens the expectations of a world change to happen in 1975 (armageddon) to its' adherents and nothing occurs and then blame their adherents for thinking such thoughts, this is outright deception.

I had a fight with a brother the other day who is trying to get me d/f for being an apostate. Of course I am not. Every comment of his was "you are an apostate, every comment of yours is against Jehovahs witnesses."
My argument is that the word apostate is not even in the NT. The great Apostacy that it talks about are religions that turn away from the words of Jesus. I never berate the words of Jesus so how can I be an apostate.

JWs can not seem to separate Jesus from the Organisation, or the WTS. No I will never let any JW label me an apostate.

guys: if a girl is only mediocre in the looks department but is absolutely fab-u-lous in the personality dept...........which is more important to you?

What are JW's leaders going to do when we hit the year 2014 and no Armaggdn

we are fast approaching the year 2014 which will be 100 years since 1914. what are jw's and the wt going to do if armaggeddon has not occurred by then?

will they come up with a bunch of "new light" to do away with 1914 all together?

will they suddenly announce that jesus came into kingdom power in the year 2014?

By then people will be living to 125 so that give them an extra 25 year.

Actually they solved the problem in 1995 with the new generation teaching. A generation is now said to be an undetermined period of time, in other words, a generation can continue for 100's of years. They still try to say it will come tomorrow, but in 2014 they can point to the 1995 articles that show they never suggested it has to come within a life time.

I prophecy (with about as much holy spirit guiding me as guiding the WTS) that after 2014 there will be an increased rate of decrease of Witnesses in all developed countries. The only way they will survive at all is to totally stop mentioning 1914, move mainstream and just tell everyone they are the most loving brotherhood. With the Jehovah teaching they are different enough to survive as a religion in its own right. The other necessary change will be to make the bible actually apply to the great crowd, make Jesus their mediator and stop mentioning the Anointed 144,000.

I need help with a discussion with my parents!

my parents are on the circuit, well educated, well intentioned and totally committed to the wts.

for years i have argued with them over issues and doctrine.

they know most things that are wrong with the wts but refuse to budge on the idea that it is the only true religion.

Its not till monday, so i have the whole weekend to prepare.

I like the idea of discussing 1919.

Who was the f&D slave during the last 1900 years? No idea. How about Russell, yes, he was wrong but Jesus did not clean his temple till 1919. So if it was cleaned in 1919 why were they still teaching all the wrong time prophecies in 1930, idolising pyramids, using crosses and eating blood. Why were they still idolatrously worshipping Jesus until the 1950's?

I hold out no great hope, but at least I tried. If it does not work this time, I will make it the last one and move on. I am scared to think of how my parents would cope with being 60, and having to build a new life. OzziePost gave me hope to see how he has made a success of his life since moving on. If they do leave the first thing I will do is try to get them to join his Charity fund, Mum has always wanted to help others in a real way, and I am sure she would be a charity worker if not a JW.

Looking for some advice

i'm a young man raised in the jws, been meaning to get the hell out of dodge for a few years now (basically ever since starting a history degree and learning why the jw conception of history, science, and indeed of reality is so utterly nonsensical, in addition to having discovered girls and fun).

i have no qualms about leaving the organization, i don't care what the elders or anyone else think about my decision - with the exception of my family.

i love my family deeply and i know that my decision will really hurt them, especially my mother (a full-time pioneer), and this is making me hesitate to do what i know needs to be done in addition to causing me a lot of worry and stress.

You could go on living for what will make your mother happy, and end up like me. 35, married to a JW, with kids, and having little idea of who i am, what i want, and now hurting not just my mother but also a wife.

Or you could end up like a 25 yo friend who was just disfellowshipped. He is also married. He no longer has a mother who speaks to him and does not expect to for the remainder of his life, a wife who does not know whether they should stay together, and a deep longing to find out who he is.

Or since you now understand reality, you could fade, never enter a kingdom hall, not discuss your beliefs and actions with your mum or others so as not to get d/f, and hope to be left alone. Then your mother may at least feel like she can talk to you from time to time.

All those litres of processed blood by-products that Jehovah's Witnesses can now use; was that manufactured from blood poured out onto the ground, or stored blood?

Another question springs to mind.

All those thousands of litres of blood the Jehovah's Witnesses use in the transfusions of allowed components and immunoglobbulin injections; where does the blood come from? JWs must not donate blood so why do they think they should make use of these medical miracles?

Heres a simple question defd.

Are we allowed to eat food sacrificed to idols? Yes.

So why does Acts 15:28 say we can not? Is the bible wrong? No. Acts 15:28 only applied to the congregations with a mix of Jews and Gentiles to avoid stumbling. Likewise blood is also acceptable. That is why it is never mentioned as a reason for shunning or the second death.

Russell knew it, Christians know it, so why don't JWs these days?
