... or do people look at things that way in order to justify what is happening in our lives, and add meaning to it?
If so is it healthy to think everything happens for a reason?

a more complete example of a wrong religious road or overwhelming delusion than what is found in the writings of the watchtower bible and tract society would be difficult to find.
if each jehovah's witness would follow their own guidance and conscience, many more than already have would stream out of the suffocating grip of this man-centered organization and into true liberty.. matt 24:11-12 many false prophets will rise up and deceive many.
because lawlessness will multiply, the love of many will grow cold.
When I left too many of my friends said they did not want to know if it was true or not. "Better the devil you know".
hi guys,.
good discussion here.
thanks.. what is real christianity?
Hi Thankyou.
I hated the concept that God only deals with a microscopic minority group. I still find it hard to accept that he only listens to any single group of people. I believe we should go to God. That is what is universally believed at the core of most religions, and certainly was taught be Jesus. Recognising and appreciating a creator is a good first step.
The word organisation never appears in the bible, so no, the bible does not say you need an organisation. That is the single most obscene control mechanism of the WTS. God never operated through any single organisation, though for a short period of time the 12 tribe kingdom came close. Even then he operated through individuals. Rarely were the majority of that Jewish 'organisation' even serving God. Have a look at http://www.jwfacts.com/index_files/slave.htm for a comparision of history with the concept as presented by the WTS.
to all jwd posters that i have felt go overboard with your bitterness toward the borg!
see below a copy of part of my letter to my son (he posts on here when he gets chance to).
i now fully understand your anger and your desire to try and get jw's out of this blood guilty cult.
Nice to read your story Tez and PaulJ.
My name is Paul and when i was reading the letter i had a sudden hope that you were my mum. Oh well, one lives in hope.
well this poor jw walked to the table to sort out the throw aways just as i headed there also.. i saw him and smiled, then he dropped his head to not look at me.
we both sorted out the things for the trash bin and were only about 20 or so inches apart.. i remember him coming to my house when my daughters were young girls and he wanted to get aquainted.. maybe i should have spoken to him but i just looked at him and he refused to even look back.. how sad.
he always has this really sad disappointed look on his face.
It is such a shocking feeling. I got semi shunned this week. An active and an inactive sister who has not gone to meetings for years were sitting in my wifes cafe' when i popped in for lunch. I went and sat next to them. The active sister said "I knew you would sit next to us" She sat for a minute or so and then got up and went and talked to my wife. What got to me is the inactive sister got into me, saying I am an apostate and will die at armageddon. If that is true then so will she.
I have a new favourite brand of clothes that I am enjoying wearing. It is called CULT. I have some shorts and it has cult in large letters on the back and a cool looking cross for a logo.
ok, i promised!
so's not to take the other thread off topic, let's start on this here.. so: what's the dubs' most ridiculous teaching?.
i'll start.the ships of kittim.. .
The other is the current teaching of the days of Daniel.
The 1290 days prophecy is said to be between the 1918 and 1922 convention
1355 days prophecy is between 1922 and 1926 convention.
There was 1355 days between the '22 and '26 DC, but 1334 not 1290 between '18 and '22. The number of days don't match up but the GB must be confident that no one will ever bother to check up.

that a single slave is a group of 144,000, but was really just a president, but now is really only the governing body, who are also a domestic, but actually are God's earthly organisation, and;
that it is not Jesus Christ but the slave that is the mediator for JWs
i was just eatting breakfast and thought of an idea to make the congregations less desirable to be in.
if jws can not/don't want to see through the doctrine, maybe filling the congregations with undesirables will make them think twice about going to meetings.
maybe we should do an advertising campaign to the mentally ill, tell them that meetings are filled with people longing to be their friends.. advertise to the cleptomaniacs that there are plenty of trusting people that leave their bags around.. tell young men that there are plenty of gullible virgins that still have a 1950's view of male superiority and headship.. and all they have to do to become a member is pretend to go preaching 10 hours a month for 6 months.
Sorry, I did misword this. I was thinking of guillible people.

well, not too serious.
the following is taken directly from the reasoning book, page 202, under the heading jehovah's witnesses.
parentheses are mine .
are jehovah's witnesses a sect or a cult?".
From the Sceptics dictionary,
If one person believes something they are insane,
If a few people believe it they are a cult,
If lots of people believe it they are a religion.
From my dictionary, even religion is someone elses sect.
